The Veilwalker Chapter 526

Void creatures might have been designed for bringing destruction to reality, but that did not mean they were suicidal. Even so, they would do everything in their power to destroy.

The white void had not just drawn them over. The creatures wanted to know what was causing them extreme unease and danger.

They had realised that the white radiance was deadly to them in ways their natural enemies weren't. However, getting close to that white radiance was easier said than done.

Just getting in close went against their instincts, but it had to be done if they wanted to rid themselves of the unease. At the same time, they couldn't ignore their natural enemies.

So when the radiance and its purifying light disappeared, the void creatures abandoned their fights and went after the being who had suddenly appeared in the heart of the white radiance.

They moved on instinct, failing to notice their comrades struggling on their knees. Then again, they were creatures of the void and had no attachment to one another whatsoever.

There was only the goal and an instinct to make it happen.

Unfortunately for the void creatures, the target they were after was unlike the ones they had been battling just moments prior. The purifying power might have disappeared, but they had unwittingly entered his ever-present domain.

"Haha… I don't even know who to thank."

The void creatures heard the enemy mutter to himself. They were already on the enemy, left with a few kilometres to cross, when they suddenly froze in place.

The Chief Enforcers, who had been itching to see Alexander make another move, widened their eyes in absolute shock and disbelief when the void creatures came to an abrupt halt, trapped in their state of motion.

As if that was not enough, six void creatures were kneeling behind Alexander; six creatures they had been wondering about. There they were, putting on a show to tell Alexander they could not be looked down upon.

'Well, I'll be damned…' Vornarax couldn't help but remark in shock and embarrassment. 'We've been simply making fools of ourselves!'

Unlike other void creatures, those at the god tier were not so susceptible to the applications of laws hindering their movements or combat prowess. They were the epitome of chaos and disorder, the opposite of what laws represented.

To see the very monsters, while defeatable by them, frozen in place and reduced to mere spectators, left the Enforcers feeling like idiots. Right before their very eyes, Alexander proved to them that he was one of a kind.

Drakmor glanced at his companions, once again understanding what they were going through. After all, he had witnessed something similar when Alexander was in Universe Prime.

Alexander had that kind of effect on people.

But how they were feeling wasn't important at the moment. Without so much as a word to his companions, he melded with the void and disappeared, reappearing a few tens of meters behind Alexander.

Just like Calyndra had shown them, multiple patches devoured his senses as soon as they crossed the boundaries. The scene before him felt so freaky that his core began thumping, a dreadful feeling creeping into his being.

They were light-years away from the patches, but the dragon could feel the unreasonable fear settle into his being.

'There are more of them than I imagined.'

Drakmor gulped anxiously, counting at the very least millions of them, scattered about for thousands of light-years. The majority of the patches were extremely small, akin to tiny holes easily missed if one wasn't extending their senses over to them.

To the eyes of beings like him, the area resembled a usual sea of chaotic energies with zones of inhibition that weren't there before; spots that refused to hold any and all forms of energy.

'So this is what we brought into existence…' The dragon shifted his gaze from the patches to Alexander, who still had his attention focused on the patches. 'I would be angry too…'

A few hundred kilometres away from Drakmor, his colleagues appeared. They didn't dare come too close, choosing to watch from a distance, farther away from the void creatures.

They looked at the frozen creatures struggling in place while letting out their signature clicking sounds, and then at Alexander. They were both embarrassed and cautious to get too close to him.

"We should all thank our luck, people." Alexander suddenly spoke, drawing everyone's attention. Slowly, he turned around to look at the void creatures, and then at the Enforcers, calmly gauging their expressions.

While Drakmor held his gaze, the others could not, choosing to look anywhere else other than Alexander. How were they supposed to look at him when they brought disaster to all of reality?

"At least your actions gave us the lesser of two evils." Alexander sneered, gesturing at the absolute spots of nothingness behind him.

The Enforcers weren't sure what Alex meant by 'lesser of two evils'. Regardless, they were ashamed of themselves for making bold declarations about power.

Calyndra had her head slightly lowered, feeling as if she were standing before the Supreme One. Although Alex did not give off any existential presence, his gaze might as well do the job for him.

"Honestly, I don't know if I should be relieved or pissed off." Alexander continued. "You guys pretty much had your path cut out for you, a simple one at.

"You were chosen to be the champions of your universes. All you had to do was fuse with the core of your homes, and you'll have unimaginable strength. But somehow, that was not enough, and it was understandable." Reaching this point, Alex laughed deprecatingly, letting out a heavy sigh.

"When some idiot attempted to use this unorthodox and vile approach for greater power, I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon them." Alex looked at the Enforcers with so much disappointment and anger that even Drakmor lowered his head in shame.

"Damn it, you guys should have known better. As direct subordinates of the Supreme One, you should have known better!" The void between them shook at his exclamation, almost as if it were expressing Alexander's raging emotions. "Look at what your greed for power has done!"

For a brief picosecond, the Enforcers felt their knees buckle when an abrupt and foreign pressure passed them like cold winds, making several of them swallow nervously.

Calyndra, Nyssa, Vornarax and Velmyra attempted to distance themselves, only to have their eyes widened in shock when they realised they couldn't move, regardless of what they tried. It was like their energies would not leave their bodies, and the surrounding ones would not respond to their calls.

They lifted their heads, instantly meeting Alexander's cold ones, and a shiver ran down their backs. In that instant, they understood: Alexander was not like them; Alexander was not your typical Veilwalker they could suppress with their universe and existential presence!

'We're dead if he so wished for it…' Calyndra's thoughts echoed through their connection, their silence a testament to their agreement. 'Drakmor… you were right.'

With a heavy heart and core, the tigress looked behind Alexander, the reality of their actions settling in like it hadn't before. She and her companions still had no clue what lesser evil meant, but if their corrupted comrade was spreading those patches everywhere…

'All of reality is in danger…'

"You know…" Alexander continued after taking a moment to reel in his rising anger. He turned around to face the abysses, his hands clasping behind him. "I really wanted to do something that would make you all regret ever taking this path." ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ novęlfire.net

The Enforcers swallowed imperceptibly, secretly glad Alex wasn't going to do anything. When was the last time they felt so small before someone? The last time was thousands of years ago, when the Supreme One was still around.

And unlike what Alexander said, the Supreme One would have severely punished them. Just thinking about him made them shudder a second time.

"But I don't have it in me…" Alex sighed. "The damage has already been done. I can only hope that what we have here doesn't get any bigger, or your corrupted colleague isn't making more of this mess wherever he is."

When he completely erased the last of the corrupted essence and realised the ripples represented the creation of new abysses, a deep wave of relief washed over him, settling the thumping of his core to some degree.

He realised that his thinking had been flawed from the start. The corruption began with the fusion of the black cores with universe cores —a combination that shouldn't have been.

For creatures like that to be born, they had to have something as their centre of power, or at least that was the conclusion he came to.

And the reason the abysses likely appeared in the areas where the corrupted essence was very concentrated must have something to do with the unorthodox nature of the essence that rejected reality itself.

Then again, these were his thoughts. Even so, Alexander felt that must be the case. The only thing left to do now was find the corrupted Enforcer and bring an end to the nightmare before it got worse.

'Lesser of two evils, huh…' Alexander thought to himself, looking over his shoulder as the predatory clicking continued to grate his ears. 'I'm glad no greater monsters than you guys came out of this mess. I'd choose you guys any day of the week. Go in peace…'

The predatory clicking suddenly got replaced with loud screeching sounds when the frozen void creatures began disintegrating, turning into light motes and drifting into the void, not even leaving their black cores behind.

Right before the shocked and trembling eyes of the Enforcers, god tier void creatures were erased without so much as a finger being raised. The Chief Enforcers swallowed hard, imagining the same thing happening to them if they so much as looked at him or his companions the wrong way.

'W-We should warn the others about this monster…' Calyndra expressed fearfully. 'Messing with him will get us erased without even knowing how!'
