It was a hazardous situation, in the middle of a fight against a giant the size of mountains, one would feel tense, hell, they would feel like death was merely inches away, inviting them into its embrace.
They already had one foot inside the door the moment they decided to fight the fragment of Kizmal, but Edward felt calm. He had just jumped from Kazikato's back, thousands of feet in the air, but he felt calm, incredibly so.
His fear had disappeared, his irregular breathing, and the tension in his body were gone as he plummeted down, waiting for the lightning to strike. Beside's a funny feeling in his stomach, he was...relatively alright.
It was a surprise, all his fear was gone, and in his mind, there was only a single task in his mind, one he had to do before he hit the ground.
He could figure out how to land afterward, he needed to his job first. Besides, It would take a long while until he hit the ground. He was fairly high up, he had a few minutes at the very least.
Edward turned around, his back towards the distant ground as the hair on his body stood up, goosebumps appeared all over as he saw a blue bolt of death descend from the dark clouds above. He didn't have to dodge, he had to take it head on.
He already had his shield of absorption in front, ready to absorb the bolt, he had dismissed the shield of emission a while ago, using both his hands, he was ready to absorb the lightning bolt.
There was no unrelenting tide of shadows, or Kazikato's speed to protect him now, only his shield and his body, and he prayed his shield could hold out.
Even if it was a shield that could absorb all kinds of physical damage and reflect it back in the same form, it had limits. It could not absorb an infinite amount of energy, if the magical energy in the lightning bolt exceeded its limits... it would blow up in his face, the shield of absorption would become the shield of explosions.
A nice name, but a very bad thing was going to happen if it truly became like that. Edward could only hope it would not happen.
"Come on, you can ho-"
Before he could even finish his sentence, it was already upon him, and it came like lightning, literally.
It was an immense amount of force that crashed into him, even if he had the shield of absorption, he had to tank some of it as well. He was thankful his sense of hearing was long gone, but that did not mean all was well.
Blood still escaped from his mouth, escaping through the gaps of his teeth, his eyes had turned slightly red, and his body was numb. And he was spinning, prior to this, he was simply falling down, but now?
He was like a Ferris wheel, only incredibly fast. It made him grow nauseous, and he let go of his shield of absorption.
Golden fire appeared on his feet, and his hands, and burned like concentrated flame. Edward was using it to stabilize himself, and once that worked, he tried to get closer to his shield.
He could not use the shield of emission without the shield of absorption, unlike the latter, the former could not be used alone. He needed it, desperately.
But he could not do this for long, his reserves of aura were limited, and he could not propel himself in air for long. He had to conserve his aura, lest his landing was not going to be...clean.
He had dismissed his fire, and assumed a swimming position, he apparently had the idea that it would help him... as absurd it was normally was, right now, it was the only thing in his mind. The panic had returned as he realized he was at Kizmal's stomach, and if he delayed any longer, chances of him missing his target were high.
Very high. He clicked his tongue and gave up on a smooth landing, and used his aura to propel himself towards his shield, his reserves were low...and he would have to drink a potion.
How well would that go in his situation? He wasn't optimistic about it. Summoning the shield of emission as soon as he grabbed the shield of absorption, he aimed towards the massive plain of blue flesh. Kizmal's thigh, his target.
He wasn't confident about his aim, but did he really need to be? Surely, he could not miss the thigh of a giant the size of mountains. If he did, he really needed to evaluate himself, and definitely take some lessons.
Nevertheless, the energy left the shield of emission and went forward, it was not a lightning bolt, but instead a beam of pure energy that Edward could hardly control, it propelled him up in the air as it made its way towards the side of Kizmal's thigh.
It was not as fast as a bolt of lightning, but equally destructive. But there was merely one question left in his mind as the color blue obscured his vision.
How much damage was he actually going to do? Even if it was a massive amount of energy... It still belonged to the element of electricity, it may not look like it, but it was lightning.
Lightning that originated from none other than the monstrous giant occupied with fighting a dragon made of shadows. One that had two humans on it's body, one scaling its titanic chest with his blades, and the other casting a spell on the drums on it's back.
Edward gulped, dubious to how much damage Kizmal's own energy would do him? That thought ran rampant in his mind as Kazikato dived and picked him up, and Sabrina's voice rang in his mind as his eyes could finally see.
