The Way of Basketball: Never Talk Shit to Him! Chapter 117

Big Beard, the white fan, left the arena like a pebble dropping into the rolling Yangtze River, creating ripples.

Soon, everyone refocused their attention on the court.

It was as if the Big Beard’s curses had never happened.

But Su Wan took note of the scene.

He felt it was the ant hole that collapsed the thousand-mile levee, a crack in the "wall of trust."

If one fan couldn’t take it and decided to leave, then a second and a third would follow...

His job was to be the "catalyst" for this behavior!

And he had already said that he needed to do something to prove that the Cavaliers shouldn’t have traded him.

Other than making the Cavaliers lose tonight, completely cutting off their playoff hopes.

There was also...

Showing them what kind of talent they had lost!

He had thought LeBron James would bring out 120% of his fighting spirit tonight and turn into "Full Effort James," but instead, this "garbage-ache" had succumbed to "Diarrhea Mode," and even beating him now wouldn’t prove how awesome he was.

His job was just to keep scoring.

Everything up to now in the first quarter indicated that he was in great form tonight, and the Cavaliers’ starting wing couldn’t handle him.

"I will keep shooting until I sit back on the bench, or the game ends!"

Before the game restarted, Su Wan sought "unlimited shooting rights" from his teammates, who all agreed, including little O’Neal. He had sensed Su Wan’s strong fighting spirit for the match since yesterday, so he had no reason to refuse. Even so, he thought to himself that didn’t make Su Wan the only boss of the Pacers, then nodded in agreement.

The Cavaliers quickly recognized the issue, noticing Su Wan’s increasingly intense desire to attack.

Brandon Malone kept shouting from the sidelines, urging the Cavaliers players to pay attention to their positioning and reminding Drew Gooden and "Big Z" to be timely with their Help Defense.

But now the problem was...

The Cavaliers’ wings couldn’t form a sufficiently threatening defensive barrier.

And Help Defense required a high level of obstruction from the first line of defense.

Typically, high-quality Help Defense needed the defending player at the front line to tangle up the opponent.

Newell and McGinnis just couldn’t do it, resulting in low-quality Help Defense from Gooden and "Big Z."

At the end of the first quarter, Su Wan had racked up 12 points.

The dazed LeBron had only managed 3 points, barely reaching his tab, and it’s worth mentioning that LeBron’s 3 points were all from Free throws; he drew fouls twice in the first quarter, making 3 out of 4 attempts.

But given his form tonight, it’s hard to say those weren’t pity calls from the refs to help him find his rhythm.

They also spiced up the match.

Have you not noticed the two-digit point gap by the end of the first quarter?

If this continues, the match could enter "garbage time" by halftime, which would be a waste for a nationwide broadcast.

Finally, Brandon Malone, devoid of reservations, asked LeBron, "If I were to put you on Su Wan, could you do it, LeBron?"

LeBron furrowed his brows slightly.

He felt that Brandon Malone thought he wasn’t embarrassed enough today and wanted to set him up in front of Su Wan to continue making a fool of himself.

No help for it—who would not be biased against Brandon Malone at this point?

Even if Malone considered the issue entirely from the team’s perspective, he still believed Malone was doing it intentionally.

"I’m a Point Guard," LeBron responded flatly, declining Brandon Malone’s request.

But you could damn well play as a small forward!

Malone cursed in his mind, his face showing helplessness.

Su Wan glanced at the score, aware that his time was limited. Right at the start of the second quarter, he taunted LeBron again, "Don’t you dare defend me, you softie!"

LeBron finally couldn’t hold back and retorted, "Damn it, can’t you shut up? You haven’t won yet, have you?"

"Perfect!"

Su Wan gave LeBron a thumbs-up and casually entered "The zone" mode.

LeBron clearly didn’t realize that his unable-to-keep-silent retort would bring disaster upon his teammates.

Actually...

He saw it quite soon!

Su Wan, who was already in top form tonight, became absolutely unstoppable after entering "The zone" mode.

With LeBron refusing to guard Su Wan, Brandon Malone had no choice but to continue using Newell and McGinnis to defend.

Su Wan’s shooting felt right, and so he let Newell hassle him; if he broke through too often, then the more agile McGinnis would cope.

The result was that every couple of plays, the defender in front of Su Wan had to switch.

The constant switching alone was enough to tire both McGinnis and Newell.

And the effect...

Well, both men were perfectly qualified "background boards!"

Su Wan, who scored 12 points in the first quarter, viciously added 21 more in the second.

By halftime, he had set a new personal record for his career half-time scoring.

But even that wasn’t enough...

"Bring LeBron here!"

"I’m telling you to bring LeBron in front of me!"

With the gap widening to over 16 points by halftime and the match quickly losing suspense, Su Wan planned to push his score to 50 points. With his form tonight, even if he only had three-quarters of time, he felt he could do it effortlessly under "The zone" mode.
