The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic Chapter 8

Title and Synopsis Updated

Apologies for the sudden change.

Day Two in the Monster-Infested Forest

Before sleeping, I want to record my observations of the Grand and Blue Grizzlies' behavior I've compiled today.

The moonlight is my only reliable source of light, making it a bit dark, but I'll manage to write something down.

Has writing become a habit over this month? I feel restless without jotting down a diary entry.

Guided by a black-furred rabbit, I arrived at the dwelling place of the target monsters.

There, I spotted two Blue Grizzlies and one Grand Grizzly.

One of the Blue Grizzlies was small and behaved childlike, while the other was larger, possibly its parent.

Though I read that Grand Grizzlies live in groups... Could this also be considered a group?

After about an hour of observation with little progress, I decided to wrap up.

The rabbit remained on my shoulder the entire time... It's cute, so I'll let it slide.

I continued observing their dwelling place.

Still no significant movement.

No noteworthy changes, so I'll leave it at that for today.

What's with this rabbit that follows me? It understands human speech and has a handy crisis detection ability.

I'm full of questions.

But it's cute, so it's fine.

The water was definitely bad.

The rabbit staying by my side while I suffered from stomach pain was very reassuring.

Feeling better by the afternoon, I went to observe the bears.

From atop a tree, I watched as they went hunting today. Having not seen them for just a day, it felt like a long time.

The Grand Grizzly took the young Blue Grizzly hunting. It was a heartwarming scene.

Today's observation revealed they eat practically anything.

They easily took down a "Fall Boar," a boar monster with highly developed hind legs.

Can I really defeat that thing?

I was attacked by a monster today.

It happened on my way back from a spot the black rabbit showed me, where fresh water springs.

Suddenly, the rabbit began to tremble.

Then appeared a gigantic snake, resembling a Tsuchinoko. I don't know its actual name, so I'll call it Gigatsuchinoko or Giganoko for short. It had a thick body and was about seven meters long.

The way it charged straight at us, without slithering, filled me with terror. Of course, I ran. It chased me persistently, but I managed to escape.

I took a detour back to my base, just to be cautious.

There's something off about that snake. It felt malevolent, different from the other monsters in this forest.

Even the black rabbit, which wasn't scared of the Grand Grizzly, was terrified of it...

No anomalies concerning the bears today.

It's been a week since I arrived here, and I'm starting to forget why I'm here in the first place.

I was attacked by Giganoko again.

Not far from my base this time.

I originally encountered it deep within the forest... Has it been following me, moving its base? If so, it's definitely targeting me. I'd rather not be eaten.

I should defeat the Grand Grizzly soon.

I have a bad feeling about this.

The rabbit seemed scared from the morning, so I rested atop a tree today.

I've run out of water, but that's less important than staying alive.

But this rabbit... Has it become too attached to me? Even after healing its wound, should it be this fond of me?

To be honest, I want to take it home with me.

If Giganoko doesn't show up tomorrow, I'll go hunting for the bear.

Unfortunately, I couldn't hunt the Grand Grizzly on the tenth day.

It wasn't because my carefully devised plan failed... I hadn't even put it into action.

Because there lay the brutally devoured corpse of a Grand Grizzly before me.
