Su Yan opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something.
But only heard Xuanyuan Yonghao’s tone, half joking and half serious,
"Do you like this so much?"
Su Yan’s eyes were all on the wallet, then she obediently nodded.
After waiting for a while, seeing that Xuanyuan Yonghao had no reaction,
She wondered if she should ask for the candy back.
Suddenly, she realized that they had unknowingly arrived at a dilapidated and desolate place.
This place seemed familiar.
That was Su Yan’s first reaction.
Then, it struck her,
It seemed to be the place she had barged into on her first day of restless wandering after being possessed.
She looked around, the houses ruined and simple. The surrounding walls had broken down, and the inside was overgrown with wild grass.
She voiced her confusion,
"Your Highness, why have we come here?"
Xuanyuan Yonghao’s eyes were pitch black, his voice gentle,
"Want to know?"
"Yes,"
came the soft response.
His strong, slender hand lifted, touching an ancient tree beside him.
"This is where mother lived."
His voice was much lighter than usual, his eyelids drooped, as if he was lost in memories.
Su Yan looked up at him,
"Your Highness, do you miss the Lady?"
When he heard these words, he suddenly let out a snicker.
Different from his usual gentle demeanor, as smooth and composed as jade.
Unconsciously, a trace of chilliness crept into his voice,
"It’s remembering, not missing."
As if he remembered just some random cat or dog, no, even that was better.
Su Yan said nothing, she just listened.
When Xuanyuan Yonghao spoke, he only said a few brief sentences,
"In my mother’s eyes, my existence was a mistake."
As he spoke, a smile appeared between his lowered brows.
Since it was a mistake, it should have been erased and corrected.
Who knew that the mistake would only grow bigger and bigger, and mother never had the chance to correct it after all.
His hand rested between the trees.
His gaze slowly turned towards Su Yan.
He showed a warm and gentle smile as usual, his eyes deep,
"I have never shared what’s on my mind with the living."
His tone was murmuring, almost like a whisper, but it was as if he was speaking to Su Yan.
Su Yan listened, blinking her watery eyes, then noticed the tree.
The one that was wriggling... it was a snake!
Before she could speak, the snake was quicker.
Hiss!
The bright red tongue struck, and snapped at Xuanyuan Yonghao’s palm in an instant.
Xuanyuan Yonghao raised an eyebrow and turned to look.
On that ancient tree, a thin Black Snake coiled, as thick as a thumb.
But Xuanyuan Yonghao remained still, his hand still resting between the trees.
A smile appeared on his lips, his eyes still deep, keeping the same appearance.
Yet it made one feel chills, as if one would feel more terrified than that snake in a moment.
Then, Xuanyuan Yonghao raised his right hand, his fingers leisurely pinched that thin snake’s throat.
The snake didn’t even have time to struggle before he forcefully snapped it in half.
Snake Blood splattered on his face, making him look even more daunting.
Before Su Yan could react, Xiao Hua screamed out,
"Ah! That’s scary!!"
Xiao Hua was already frightened by the snake, but Xuanyuan Yonghao’s actions were even more horrific, had Xiao Hua had a body, she would have fainted on the spot.
Su Yan, however, ran straight to Xuanyuan Yonghao without blinking an eye.
She picked up his hand and saw the now purple bruised wound.
"Poisonous."
She spoke out.
Xuanyuan Yonghao seemed not to care whether the snake was poisonous or not.
Or rather, he didn’t even care about himself.
He just watched Su Yan’s reaction, chuckled,
"Wouldn’t you prefer I die from this poison?"
