Biming's medical examiner friend was treating Caishen like a patient. She examined his hands, legs, tongue, heart beat and asked him questions.
"Have you been experiencing shortness of breath?"
Caishen shook his head.
"Headaches?" she asked.
He nodded.
"How often?" she went on to inquire.
"Once or twice daily." Biming answered on Caishen's behalf.
"Do you have one now?" she asked.
He shook his head, ever since he carried the cat, all traces of the headache had disappeared. In fact, every time he had the cat in his arms, the headaches, fatigue, weakness, it would all vanish.
"Any coughing?" she asked.
"No," Again, Biming answered.
"Fatigue, weakness or drowsiness, have you experienced anything like that?"
She has a paper on which she was ticking things or noting down. It was almost like a real doctors interview except for the fact that they were in his office.
"Nausea or vomiting?"
"No..., I don't think so." Biming said unsurely.
Suddenly, the female medical examiner raised her head and shouted at Biming.
"Are you my patient or is it him?"
"Tch, your patients are cold bodies on a slab. How is my very much alive boss qualified to be called your patient?" Biming mumbled.
She raised her upper lip and glared at Biming.
Awkwardly, Biming looked around and and moved his mouth around, rolling it around.
"Let's continue." she told Caishen. "Have you tasted anything off in your saliva like a metallic taste?"
"No." he answered.
"And muscle weakness." she asked.
He nodded and she scribbled something down.
"Itching or rashes," she went on.
"Ermm, sis Li, why don't you just give him a list of suspected symptoms so that he can tick them off. You also haven't told us what you suspect he has been poisoned with or if it's the same as what the other reports say.
We should calculate how many pills he has taken and see if the poison has been in his body for long."
Biming could see that Caishen was getting exhausted so he made a suggestion that would speed things up hopefully.
He called her sis Li because he had known her since high school. Ning Li was her actual name.
She was a tall, short brown haired medical examiner with a scathing tongue and Biming's secret but not so secret crush.
He was however terrified of her, and when he spoke to her, he usually kept a safe distance between them because she had a nasty temper.
In his phone, he had her number saved as 'my personal witch.'
"I am almost done, sit down and keep quiet." she replied softly.
She may have spoken softly but he heard the threat within her voice. It was that don't disturb me when I am working voice.
"Yes sis Li." Biming backed down.
"Have you experienced any diarrhea, bloody to be precise?" she looked at Caishen and asked with a smile.
"Ha-ha, sis Li, this is....." Biming chimed in.
Again, he was glared at and he looked up at the ceiling pretentiously.
"One more question, how long have you been taking the pills?" she addressed Caishen.
"Uhm, a week." he answered.
Caishen touched the pill bottle and looked at it coldly. Then, he put if down and said, "It's a new experimental drug recommended by a an orthopedic surgeon. It's supposed to strengthen my bones and muscles..."
"One pill costs one hundred fifty thousand yuan, to think that the pills are poison and not a cure!! Aah, crazy, this is crazy." Biming lamented loudly.
This time round, both Caishen and Ning Li looked at Biming.
"Sorry, keep talking," he softened his voice and laughed nervously.
Ning Li brought out a syringe from her pocket. "I need your blood to test and see the levels in your body. A urine sample could also work if you are willing to give me one.
You should go to a hospital for a deeper and thorough check.
In my opinion you should sue that orthopedist because they were not trying to cure but kill you. The food and drug administration can never approve of such a medicine.
In fact, no sensible doctor can recommend such a medicine.
You, do you have any enemies?"
Caishen's face remain still, giving nothing like a clue away. He was like a stone, you could look hard but it expressed no emotions.
Ning Li was certain that someone was trying to kill this man. He was already in a wheelchair and yet he was given poisoned pills.
Wasn't the wheelchair punishment enough for him?
"Sis Li, does this mean that you will quietly take of our enemies with your scalpel?" Biming tried to make light of the moment.
She shot a glare at Biming and her upper lip trembled.
"I am leaving now."
She had offered help, examined him and taken a sample for testing. The rest should be done by a real doctor.
"Thank you, I will send you the appropriate compensation for your time." Caishen told her.
Ning Li smiled and accepted.
"Why can't you be as excellent as your boss Biming. Handsome, rich and generous."
As she was being escorted out by Biming, she asked him this.
They were standing by an elevator, a private one that was used only by Caishen and family members occasionally.
Ning Li had used it because Caishen wanted to keep her visit a secret.
Biming, on hearing Ning Li's words snorted unhappily.
"Sis Li, my boss is married. Don't get any ideas."
Ning Li slapped him on the back abruptly.
"Crazy, crazy, you crazy fool." She said as she hit him lightly.
Then, she entered the elevator, maintaining her glare as she looked at him.
"You should be careful. When a boss is targeted either the assistant is involved or they are targeted too.
You are too stupid to be involved but you could become a target.
I know an excellent detective that I can refer you to. No, I am going to give him your contact and explain some things.
He will help you out greatly." She told him.
She did not look worried but her words conveyed care.
As the elevator went down, Biming was left in a brief trance.
"Does she like me or not?" He asked himself.
If he had flowers with petals, he would be engaged in a game of she loves me, she loves me not at this time.
"Bah! Someone tried to kill my boss. That's should be my biggest worry now." He quickly turned and run back to Caishen's office.
"Boss..." he whined.
"Calm down." Caishen said sternly. "How many people know that I am looking into my accident again?"
Biming was nothing but efficient, he had a list of those people on his phone and he showed it to Caishen.
"When Mo Sen questions anyone I add their name to the list." He said.
Caishen kept one hand on the cat and one scrolled through the names slowly. Somewhere on this list was someone who knew something.
It had long been his suspicion that his accident was not really an accident. As a business man, he was bound to make a few enemies here and there but not to the point of getting himself killed.
He had a feeling that this was about something else, money especially was at the top of his list.
"Tell him to increase the pressure and go back around. He should question them again, someone will crack."
