This is really not mechanical ascension Chapter 115

At the time when countless people’s curiosity about Li Ming peaked, this report emerged out of nowhere, and precisely nailed itself in the hearts of the public.

Consequently, emotions surged, and there were even quite a few sentimental individuals who shed tears.

What’s more, some demanded a thorough investigation of the Silver Grey City’s Department of Education, to give Li Ming the justice he deserved.

And it was only then that many people realized that all five members of the Silver Grey City Management Committee had been replaced.

Thereafter, this revelation led to the previously concealed scandal of the Star Creation Company, over-mining... grey dust disease...

Many more were shocked by this and consequently condemned Star Creation Company, while all sorts of bizarre figures rushed to express their opinions.

Meanwhile, Li Ming was blissfully unaware of all this, having slept until he woke up naturally, and looked at the time still drowsy, surprising himself.

"Nine o’clock?" he muttered, confused, seriously doubting whether he had been drugged. After sitting up from the bed, he felt full of energy.

He opened the room manual placed by the bedside and finally discovered the clue.

"Deep sleep assistance device, releases brain electromagnetic waves to help life forms enter deep sleep..."

"Tsk, there are really some fun gadgets." After finding the reason, Li Ming yawned, freshened up, and then took out his smart terminal to open the Star Web--

A series of backend notifications refreshed, long having surpassed 999+.

"What’s this?" he exclaimed, taking a closer look, only to find that the vast majority were interview requests sent by personal or official media.

There were also some outrageous statements.

"Baby, you must have suffered so much all these years..."

Glancing through them, Li Ming was bewildered and opened the backend settings to block all unsolicited message sources.

He also set it so that others could not add him as a friend unless he added them first.

After a one-click sweep of the backend, he felt much more at ease.

Only then did he notice that Zhang Huaiyuan had sent him a message early in the morning around six, saying that he had arrived.

"Sorry, just woke up, I’ll head out now," Li Ming replied, and the room door automatically opened. Standing in front of the door was a figure donning a white lab coat, with a short skirt underneath, just revealing the knees and slender calves.

With a delicate face and her hair tied up at the top of her head, her chin lifted slightly, she cradled a tablet terminal in her left hand.

"Li Ming?" she smiled, "Hello, I’m Li Ruoning, the research assistant from Professor Wu’s laboratory. Professor Wu has asked me to help you get familiarized, so if there’s anything you don’t understand about the laboratory, you can ask me."

Li Ming took a glance at her, nodded, "Okay."

"I have a friend who came to see me earlier. He should be at the laboratory’s main entrance now."

"Understood," replied Li Ruoning, tapping a few times on her tablet terminal, and a virtual projection popped up, depicting a man with a square face and a large build, "Brother Zhou, did anyone come looking for Li Ming this morning?"

Professor Wu’s laboratory has privacy protection regulations and won’t appear on the map, so ordinary people can’t find it.

"Yes, someone named Zhang Huaiyuan came, but he didn’t have an appointment, so I didn’t let him in. He’s waiting outside," Brother Zhou responded.

"Have someone take him to the cafeteria, we should probably go have lunch there soon," Li Ruoning instructed.

She raised her head and said, "I’ll take you to the cafeteria, we can meet there."

Li Ming took a step back and followed Li Ruoning, the two of them chatting as they walked.

To his surprise, Li Ming asked, "You’re still a junior at Capital University of Science and Technology?"

"Yes, consider me your senior. Genetics and Biology, I’m here for an internship," Li Ruoning said with a smile.

"Then guiding me around won’t delay your work, right?" Li Ming casually said.

"No delay," Li Ruoning smiled wryly, "I’m actually here to do miscellaneous tasks, anyway."

"Miscellaneous tasks?"

Seeing Li Ming’s somewhat surprised look, Li Ruoning laughed at herself, "It’s the disparities between people."

She had nearly worked herself to exhaustion to secure this opportunity, just barely meeting the requirements.

On the other hand, Li Ming had easily earned Professor Wu’s regard.

The two of them arrived at the cafeteria, a rather spacious place, but they didn’t stop on the first floor, heading straight up to the third.

"The first floor is for ordinary staff to eat," explained Li Ruoning. The third floor was smaller, and the virtual menu was filled with an array of choices.

Li Ming casually ordered a few items to taste, and indeed, the flavor could be considered top-notch, the nutrients contained no less than that of Grade F nutritional solution.

"Hmm... several major media have contacted our laboratory, wanting to conduct an exclusive interview with you. What do you think?" Li Ruoning asked, looking at the information.

"Is there any benefit?" asked Li Ming, scooping a large spoonful of purple jelly-like food into his mouth, squishing it with a pop.

"They are all major media, the benefit is greater visibility. But considering your current popularity, you don’t really need it. I’ll turn them down for you," Li Ruoning said, sensing Li Ming’s reluctance.

"Is my visibility that high?" Li Ming looked up at her.

"Today, you’re the most attention-grabbing person in the entire Blue Star Civilization," Li Ruoning pinched the virtual screen in her hand and then projected it in front of Li Ming.

"The Lone Hero..." Li Ming looked at the report, which differed from the first version he saw, with many more details added.

Li Ruoning tapped on the screen, "Blue Star Times really hit the nail on the head this time. The journalist who wrote this must have had contact with you; otherwise, it couldn’t have been this detailed."

"Yes, I have indeed met them," Li Ming nodded, continuing to focus on his meal.

Li Ruoning’s eyes held a curious look. Li Ming’s reaction was unexpected; she thought he would at least be a little excited, as this was no mere flash in the pan.

It was a skyrocketing rise to fame; the report was fantastic.

"It’s just a momentary spotlight. It’ll dissipate in a few days," Li Ming said indifferently, pondering that with the Star Creation Company’s issue resurfacing, they probably weren’t too pleased either.
