This Life, I Will Be the Protagonist Chapter 734

With Mysterious Power still active and another Owl Got Lost ready to go, Rita wasn't afraid of anything.

The Fat Duck in the center clearly came prepared. If they wanted BS-Rita to work, they'd have to offer something worthwhile. Pure intimidation wouldn't do it—not with her arsenal. She'd just vanish the moment things got tricky.

The Fat Duck said, "If you help us solve the gacha issue, you get a cut."

Rita's beady duck eyes widened a little. Was this... an actual job offer?

She asked, "How much of a cut?"

The center Fat Duck offered its rate: "For every hundred gachas a player spins, you get one free pull."

Rita replied with dead seriousness, "Did Foolishness send you to humiliate me?"

The gang of Fat Ducks: "..."

Sweet Pomelo couldn't hold back and burst out laughing. With a few quacks, they offered, "How about one free pull for every fifty spins?"

Rita paused to think. "Are there many event boxes with this kind of need?"

The Fat Duck on the right nodded. "A decent number."

Rita said, "Then for every fifty pulls, I want three duck feathers."

The Fat Ducks exchanged glances and agreed to the deal.

They'd come to BS-Rita because hardly any players were spinning gacha anymore.

Most of the eager ones had already played when the event boxes first dropped. The ones who hadn't pulled yet were more cautious by nature—if there wasn't some rare or must-have prize inside, they wouldn't gamble on chance.

They'd tried lowering prices before, but dropping too low hurt their pride. What were they supposed to do, offer one spin for 1 or 2 gBlocks?

But any price slightly above that and their machines weren't attractive enough to tempt players.

Even when they did stock good loot, it didn't matter. No one believed them anymore.

She'd shattered the gacha market's credibility.

With terms settled, Rita waved the ducks closer. "Alright, here's what we'll do..."

In March Theme Park, a massive gacha machine suddenly appeared under the moonlit sky.

Next to it stood a tiny Gingerbread Man and dozens of Fat Ducks carrying gacha machines on their backs.

B8017913 had purposely died in the 15th Month Theme Park just to respawn here and take part. Tugging at its Gingerbread Man costume, now loaded with over 30 Fat Duck buffs, it welcomed curious players drawn in by the giant machine.

"That's right! Just 10 gBlocks per pull. There's even a capsule inside with 10,000 gBlocks!"

"No way. We're legit. Full inspection supported."

As it spoke, a nearby Fat Duck waddled over and reached inside the massive gacha, pulling out a capsule several times larger than itself. Surrounded protectively by the others, it opened the capsule in front of everyone.

Inside was a beautifully arranged mega-Block slab. Even the most conservative estimate would put it well over 10,000 gBlocks.

Once every player nearby had gotten a good look, the duck packed it back up and stuffed it into the gacha again.

With a few pats on the machine, the capsules inside began tumbling around.

The tiny Gingerbread Man raised its voice. "10 gBlocks a spin. Each player gets only three tries! This is compensation for the inconvenience caused earlier when the event boxes got a little... punchy."

"Every capsule has a 2 gBlock minimum. That means you're essentially paying 8 gBlocks per pull."

"8 gBlocks for a dream!"

"8 gBlocks for a shot!"

"8 gBlocks for a ticket to flip your fate!"

Shouting in multiple languages, the Gingerbread Man was quickly drowned out by players rushing to spin.

"Queue up! Queue up!"

"If you want more than three spins, you'll need to trade game item shards. We don't recommend it though."

"This is not a profit scam. This is pure benefit. Three pulls, then move on."

"Confirming extra spins... Alright, dear player, your wish is our command."

The Fat Ducks stood nearby, watching the chaos with a mix of confusion and disbelief.

Behind the gacha machine, two Fat Ducks were tucked away.

Sweet Pomelo whispered, "Isn't this kinda shady?"

Rita pulled a capsule from the machine—the one with the 10,000 gBlocks slab—and held it up. "What's shady?"

Sweet Pomelo fretted, "What if we get caught?"

Rita gave them a meaningful look. "We won't."

Still worried, Sweet Pomelo glanced at the growing crowd. "I just… I don't know..."

Rita asked, "You wanna back out?"

Sweet Pomelo looked around. Pretty sure every single event box left in this Theme Park had shown up.

The grand prize hadn't dropped yet.

Players started getting antsy.

Behind the machine, Rita continued feeding it new capsules sent in by other Fat Ducks, while pocketing all the advance-paid duck feathers—her chosen commission for consignments.

More and more Fat Ducks showed up with capsules to dump in, and none of them left. They hung around, clearly enjoying the drama.

Still no jackpot. But at least the machine stopped taking new capsules.

Grumbling faded. Players turned quiet.

Only fifty or so capsules remained. Tension spiked.

Every spin now came with bloodshed and brawling.

When only three capsules were left, two-thirds of the crowd had either fled or died.

In the end, the final purchase rights went to Maple Syrup.

She used Drunkard to plunge nearly all nearby players into a booze-fueled hallucination.

If Rita hadn't had Absolute Clarity, she would've passed out too.

Maple Syrup twirled a capsule in one hand and snapped her fingers with the other. The wine fog dispersed instantly. As the crowd came to their senses, she stood tall and dramatically opened the final three capsules.

Each one dropped a puny 2 gBlock token.

The players rushing back from respawn stopped in their tracks.

Silence fell over the entire Month Theme Park.

Crouched behind the gacha machine, Sweet Pomelo trembled with excitement. "Fight, fight, fight!"

Then, they heard a voice whisper in their ear.

A moment later, someone shouted, "Retreat!"

The massive gacha machine vanished. BS-Rita, clutching the now-miniature machine, dashed off like a rocket, covering ten meters in a blink.

As she passed the Gingerbread Man, she snatched it up by the collar.

A few strides later, she flung the Gingerbread Man onto a nearby food truck. The little thing flattened its limbs and slid right under the truck, where a robotic worker inside discreetly pulled it in.

Is this whole damn family born to scam and escape?!
