The middle-aged man in charge of the exhibition was still busy, looking at the camera feed on his laptop. Meanwhile, a dark-skinned woman angrily walked past Chen Ke and Sleery, straight toward the head of security.
"Passos, where’s Jenning?" the woman asked.
"Ms. Jenning has gone up to the third floor with a janitor," the security head replied without concealment.
"That bitch, to think she’s still preoccupied with that sort of thing now!" The Black woman sighed, without another word, turned, and headed upstairs.
Chen Ke saw a golden outline emanating from her, and if he wasn’t mistaken, she must be the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Sandy Laiya.
However, it was not yet time to act against her. They went to the first floor and entered the citadel center’s main hall, which was decorated as a very luxurious and stylish art exhibition room.
The exhibit was quite dark, surrounded by low-intensity blue lights, combined with dry ice fog sprayed from the floor, turning the entire hall into a dreamlike environment.
Within the hall, many rectangular glass cabinets were neatly arranged, adorned with little white lights for showcasing the exhibits. The way these cabinets were arranged reminded Chen Ke of the underground mutated creature containment center of the Spiritual Energy Research Institute.
They wandered through it, observing the exhibits along with others. Exhibited here weren’t antique oil paintings, but bloody heads and severed hands...
The heads belonged to some indescribable monsters, already dead, or else Chen Ke might have been able to discern something. It was not known by what method the Divine Secret Society had processed these skulls. They looked as if they had just been cut from the bodies, still expressing agony, their congealed blood creating a black scar on the neck’s cross-section.
Most of the severed hands in those displays belonged to monsters, with a few being human, Chen Ke could tell the owners of these hands must have held prominent status in life, as their fingers were adorned with ornate rings. Some hands even retained remnants of magical powers.
"If I’m not mistaken, these are Thor’s trophies. He’s defeated many, and then chopped off their heads and hands to display in this room," Chen Ke said.
"Intimidation or boasting?" Sleery said with a laugh.
"Both," Chen Ke replied.
"Look..." Sleery suddenly dropped her smile, grabbing Chen Ke’s wrist and nodding toward a particular display case.
Chen Ke followed Sleery’s gaze and saw that the cabinet contained a skull.
"What’s wrong?" Chen Ke didn’t notice anything odd about the skull.
"Look at the plaque below." Sleery hinted.
In the dim light, Chen Ke squinted for a while and noticed that underneath each cabinet was a small metal nameplate, stating which unlucky individual contributed the exhibits.
And the owner of that skull was none other than Olivia.
"Oh, poor woman, I didn’t expect her final resting place to be so confined... I guess the house she lived in was certainly bigger than this," Sleery said, covering her mouth as she laughed.
