Ten minutes later, Mu You set up a teleportation array inside the City Lord’s Castle and used it to return to the Ghost Ship.
The Ghost Ship was much busier than the desolate Dawn City. As soon as he returned, he heard laughter echoing from the deck above.
Mu You left the captain’s cabin and came out onto the deck.
The skeleton crew was all faithfully at their posts. As for the panda man, who was either intoxicated from the night before or was just lying at the front of the ship, sprawled out and deeply asleep.
And at the edge of the deck, in the glass water tank prepared for the mermaid, she was half-leaning over the water, controlling a group of fish in the tank, performing a ’blowing bubbles’ show. The little girl beside her laughed giddily at the sight.
It wasn’t until the sound of Mu You’s footsteps that both the mermaid and the little girl turned to look.
The little girl called out crisply, ran towards Mu You, tugged at his clothes, and pointed to the sky, asking, "Mu You, did you lift that ’big clump of dirt’?"
"Yes." Mu You nodded, the ’big clump of dirt’ in the girl’s mouth, of course, referring to Dawn City. From her point of view, Sky City did look like a floating chunk of earth, but due to its magnitude, most wouldn’t dare call it a mere ’piece of dirt’.
"Wow! How did you do that?" the girl looked at him curiously.
"It’s simple, just become the City Lord."
"Indeed, the master of that ’clump of dirt’. Everything on it, is under my jurisdiction." Mu You declared.
"So everything that happens on it, you know?"
"Why can it fly in the sky?"
Mu You stumbled on the first question, he felt awkward. This question was too profound, he too wanted to know; what powered such a massive city to float permanently in the sky? Magic power? But what kind of magic could support a landmass of this magnitude to fly ceaselessly?
Mu You simply couldn’t answer this question right now. He thought about the mysterious space that the Son of Heaven mentioned in the Underground City. Perhaps only by going there would he find the answer to this question.
Luckily, the little girl didn’t probe further and quickly forgot about it, begging Mu You to take her to see the city.
"No rush, we have all day."
Mu You shook his head, glanced at the mermaid laying by the fish tank up front, and walked over.
"Thank you for before, your singing really saved us." Mu You started with the mermaid.
During their previous entry through the first gate, they almost got pulled out by the Octopus King. Fortunately, the mermaid stepped in just in time, her singing knocking the octopus king out cold, thereby helping them escape danger.
Hearing this, the mermaid first looked surprised, then blushed and quickly dunked her head into the water, turning her gaze away. It seemed she was somewhat flustered by his sudden gratitude.
"How’s your throat? Was the injury serious?" Mu You asked again.
During the mermaid’s previous performance, it was clear she was in great pain. It seemed the effort was a significant sacrifice for her.
This question made the mermaid visibly distraught for a few seconds before she turned to him with a puzzled expression, what humans would call ’playing dumb’.
"That’s too easy to read..."
Mu You shook his head helplessly. It seemed she didn’t want anyone to know about her wound or weakness.
Mu You didn’t ask further. Normally, this kind of injury could not be treated by regular medical means. He planned to flip through Vivian’s magic potion book when he returned to see if he could help her recover through magical means.
"Come in, I’ll take you back later."
Mu You took out an empty bag, opened the entrance, and motioned for the mermaid to go in.
The mermaid looked confusedly at him for a moment and started gesticulating wildly with her hands.
"Don’t need to continue guarding the ship?"
"There’s a vicious big guy under the sea!"
The little girl next to them acted as the mermaid’s translator, vividly translating her body language into human speech.
Mu You wasn’t sure when the two of them started playing together, but looking at the mermaid who kept nodding, she seemed to agree with the translation.
"Don’t worry, that big guy isn’t our enemy anymore."
Mu You smiled. The Ghost Ship now had a more powerful bodyguard. The Octopus King himself was its escort. He dared anyone to touch his ship now.
Subsequently, Mu You arranged some affairs on the ship and set Cook Islands as his destination. Then he took the mermaid and the little girl back to Dawn City.
Since there was no manpower in the city, construction could not proceed. However, there were still some things that could be initiated in advance, such as training scarecrows.
Training scarecrows were also one of Dawn City’s potential building projects. Once built, all residents of the city could gain experience directly by beating the scarecrow. The higher-level the scarecrow, the more daily experience that could be obtained, and the less action power expended.
This type of building was originally available for construction only at the level two City Lord’s Castle. But there was a ready-made scarecrow in the underwater prison which he could use temporarily.
These types of construct couldn’t be directly packed and brought out, only transferred in a small area on the plot of land where the construct was allowed.
Mu You entered the ruins of the Underwater Prison, found the scarecrow, and used his authority to move it to the central square.
Lin Xue and Little Ya were the first to run over and train with the scarecrow. After all, once back on Earth, physical restrictions would apply. They might as well take advantage of the unlimited stamina now and max out today’s experience.
