This wizard only wishes to be a teacher Chapter 57

Chapter 57: Chapter 55 Targeted Witchcraft Chapter 57: Chapter 55 Targeted Witchcraft Lucien had no idea that the unfortunate Nolian’s soul had already been “utilized” to the utmost degree. He was at the training grounds, watching Carly demonstrate her newly developed bow technique, the “Arrow of Deadly Poison”.

This was a magic specifically chosen by Lucien to counteract fairies and half-fairies.

Compared to humans, due to their unique physique, fairies have higher resistance to elements such as flame, thunder, and ice, and their seemingly delicate and frail bodies are also more robust than those of humans.

But no race is perfect, and the fairies’ weakness lies in their susceptibility to toxins—they even have lower resistance to poisons than average humans. Considering the potential encounters with many half-fairies and even true fairies in the future, Lucien decisively initiated Carly on this unorthodox form of magic.

One could say it was a targeted magic.

“Instructor Lucien, when I first started enchanting with toxins, like the earlier times I enchanted with flame, thunder, and ice, I chose solid enchantment, attaching toxins to the arrowhead. However, I encountered many problems,”

Carly, holding a training bow, explained her thought process while showing Lucien her arms, still swollen and reddened.

“Especially since most of the venom is in liquid form, and when the arrows are shot, this venom tends to spread with the launch of the arrow, and some poison even contaminated my own body. If I were using a deadly poison for battle, I might get poisoned even worse than my opponent… So I chose to adjust the witchcraft model, changing it from the original single solid structure to an embedded absorption structure…”

Lucien listened to Carly with a smile, feeling immensely satisfied within.

Carly’s achievements in archery were even higher than he had anticipated. Perhaps she would struggle to grasp normal spells like Shadow Stealth, but if combined with a bow and arrow, Carly’s rate of improvement was swift.

Zero-level Witchcraft “Ring of Deadly Poison”, which he had taught Carly for just two or three days, was already modified under his guidance into a spell suitable for the use with a bow.

“Good job,” Lucien said, reaching out to ruffle little Carly’s head as a gesture of encouragement.

Carly’s face lit up with joy as she lifted her little head.

“But there’s still a lot of room for improvement,” Lucien’s following words made Carly’s freshly lifted little head droop back down.

She had felt her ideas were mature and excellent, and bringing her results to show Instructor Lucien, there was actually a bit of Carly wanting to show him her capabilities.

But Carly was somewhat disheartened to find that Instructor Lucien not only spotted the intricacies of her magic at a glance, but after just listening to her explain her design once, Lucien had on the basis of her version, proposed an even more refined version.

This deepened Carly’s admiration for Instructor Lucien while also igniting a sense of urgency within her.

It seemed, if she did not work harder, she might soon find herself unable to even catch a glimpse of Instructor Lucien’s heels.

Lucien paused slightly as he picked up the bow and arrow, but soon his face revealed an even warmer smile.

“You see, we can take advantage of the sticking effect of reinforcement witchcraft to maximize and spread the venom’s potency,” Lucien said as he drew an arrow from Carly’s quiver behind her, and then he drew the bow.

Suddenly, the dark green venom began to adhere to the outside of the arrow, and then it shot out together with the arrow. However, there was no issue with the venom splashing. Instead, it enveloped the arrow, even increasing its flying speed a bit.

Lucien handed the practice bow to Carly, signaling for her to digest the information on her own, while he prepared to return to the laboratory to continue pondering over an alchemy problem that he encountered.

“Instructor Lucien.” Carly hesitated for a long time before she finally mustered the courage to call out to Lucien.

“What’s the matter, Carly? Was there something I didn’t make clear just now?” Lucien turned around.

“No… I, I just wanted to ask about my bow…” Carly stuttered but managed to make her intentions clear.

“Are you wondering if your hunting bow can still be repaired, right?” Lucien looked at Carly, who seemed eager to ask yet hesitant, and couldn’t help but speak out directly, voicing the question Carly had meant to ask.

“Yes… that’s right.” Carly scratched her head, somewhat embarrassed.

She really loved her previous hunting bow; it was not only her first bow but also the first weapon Instructor Lucien had given her. It had also accompanied her as she mastered her first archery-related witchcraft. Even if it was no longer usable in combat, Carly still wished to give it a dignified resting place.

Lucien had previously said he would try to repair it for Carly, but now that they were about to embark on a mission, her bow still had no resolution, which made Carly somewhat anxious.

Lucien looked at Carly and guiltily rubbed his nose.

After all, he had indeed procrastinated on this matter for Carly. He had planned to learn some alchemy knowledge himself and then help Carly repair her hunting bow through alchemy. The bow was at most a well-crafted hunting bow and did not even qualify as alchemy equipment.

However, he had been busy these past few days researching potential opponents such as fairies and half-fairies and preparing some things he needed, so the task of repairing the bow had slipped his mind…

Three days turned into three more days, and had Carly not brought it up, it might have been three years and then another three years.

Thinking this, Lucien turned his head slightly, hesitating to look into Carly’s eyes, which were filled with anticipation, as it would add an unnecessary sense of guilt to his heart.

“Cough cough cough… I was planning to give it to you on the day we departed, but since you’re in a rush, come to the lab after the evening training and witness the rebirth of your hunting bow,” Lucien said to Carly, trying hard to appear very calm and composed.

Carly looked at Lucien’s sincere expression and couldn’t help but slightly lower her head. She doubted whether she had indeed been too restless and had somewhat willfully disrupted Instructor Lucien’s schedule.

Seeing Carly’s tangled little head at that moment, Lucien quickly rubbed her head to confuse her thoughts, smoothly talking his way out of the situation.
