“Big brother, I don’t want to go and see anymore,” Gu Shengyin whined, clinging to Cheng Boxuan’s hand.
“You’re a major shareholder of Cheng Group after all, the people under you should at least get to know you,” Cheng Boxuan was clear-cut.
Cheng Zhensheng and his wife loved their daughter dearly. They left twenty percent of Cheng Group’s shares for Cheng Xizhi.
Cheng Xizhi was not interested in business, nor did her parents intend for her to become a businesswoman. Just the dividends from those shares were enough for Cheng Xizhi to live a princess-like life for the rest of her days.
The headquarters of Cheng Group was located in a commercial office building in the center of Hua City.
The new receptionist, with a perfect smile, watched the general manager enter the elevator and then excitedly said to her colleague, “My gosh, the general manager is so handsome! But who is the girl with him? She looks so young, yet so pretty! She even managed to make the usually serious general manager smile so tenderly. She couldn’t be some fiancée or something, could she?”
Another girl took out a mirror to check if her makeup was smudged and scoffed at her colleague’s words, “What fiancée? Haven’t you heard that our general manager has a sister?”
The new receptionist asked in confusion, “Didn’t the general manager’s sister come to the company a few days ago?”
A few days ago, Cheng Yiru did visit the company.
An old employee smiled and said, “One is his biological daughter, the other is adopted. Which one do you think is the general manager’s sister?”
Cheng Zhensheng and his wife had never hidden the fact that Cheng Yiru was their adopted daughter, so when Yuen Group was choosing a partner for an arranged marriage, they never considered Cheng Yiru.
“Who is that girl with your general manager?” A man dressed in a suit, exuding an intimidating aura, watched Gu Shengyin, who was holding Cheng Boxuan’s arm, with a calm gaze.
The laid-back PR manager sighed in relief; he had been assigned by the company to host this young master from Yuen Enterprise. The man’s imposing presence was so frightening, it even made the normally unfazed manager feel short of breath.
Seeing the young master of Yuen Enterprise distracted by something else, he let out a sigh of relief and hurriedly answered, “That’s our chairman’s younger daughter, the general manager’s sister, Miss Cheng Xizhi.”
Yuan Xu repeated the name in his mind a few times. He always felt there was a strange familiarity when he saw Cheng Xizhi. After thinking it over, he was certain he had never met her before.
Upon recalling further, wasn’t Cheng Xizhi from Cheng Group the girl his family was interested in for an arranged marriage?
So she was to be Yuen Hang’s future wife? For some reason, thinking about this possibility made Yuan Xu feel a slight irritation.
It seemed that once he finished with his current business, he would need some good rest. Yuan Xu attributed his irritability to being overworked.
As if sensing something, Gu Shengyin turned around curiously in that direction but saw only a figure walking away.
Shaking her head, Gu Shengyin laughed self-deprecatingly; she had actually felt like Ji Yu was watching her. But how could that be possible? That person, unlike her, was gone long ago.
Thinking of Ji Yu, Gu Shengyin’s mood instantly fell.
“What’s wrong, Xi Xi?” Cheng Boxuan noticed his sister’s mood was off.
Gu Shengyin shook her head: “I’m just a bit tired.”
Seeing his sister’s listless expression, Cheng Boxuan didn’t doubt her and said, “Then go sit in my resting room for a while. I’ll have someone take you home later.”
