Eve Heather stood there completely stunned, feeling the warm blood splatter onto her face so clearly.
Never had she felt so close to death.
“What are you dazed for?” came the cold voice from the mysterious person in her mind.
She snapped back to reality, forcing herself not to look at the mutilated corpse on the ground, and ran with clenched teeth to the side.
Gu Shengyin was somewhat astonished; she had thought the Beast Fighting Arena was only about the battle between Demon Beasts and Martial Artists, but she had not expected to witness this kind of one-sided slaughter!
The dozen or so teenagers in the cage had absolutely no chance to resist against the Thunder Wing Beast.
It was utterly maniacal!
Yet, the people around seemed completely unaffected by the carnage, as Gu Shengyin saw many of them reveal expressions of rapture, further heating the atmosphere.
“Don’t you think this is very cruel?” she asked.
Lilith’s face was somewhat pale, clearly frightened as well. Her brother Kyle, however, looked at Gu Shengyin with a curious expression.
“This is the custom of the Beast Fighting Arena. There’s always a warm-up before the official gladiator fights, to provide the audience with a thrill. Only blood and death can deliver the most direct impact, don’t you think?”
Gu Shengyin looked at Kyle, who was saying such cruel words casually with a gentle smile, and felt a chill in her heart.
She wanted to stop it, but the system warned her sternly, “Host, the Beast Fighting Arena is a normal setting in the original plot. The host should not lightly disrupt it.”
Gu Shengyin had to let it go.
Her attention was drawn to another figure in the iron cage, a skinny teenager clumsily fleeing within, narrowly dodging the Thunder Wing Beast’s deadly jaws time after time.
Gu Shengyin knew that this was Eve Heather. the person who had indirectly caused Veronica’s death in the original story.
All Eve heard was the mysterious person saying in her mind, “Relax, do not resist.”
She obediently followed the instructions and then realized that her body was moving on its own. She could see herself dodging the Thunder Wing Beast’s attacks with steps that seemed staggered, yet were incredibly agile.
“A mere Sixth-Rank reptile dares to act unruly in front of me!” The mysterious person snorted coldly, the contempt in his tone completely unconcealed.
Eve felt a rush of warm blood in her chest. Was this the power of the strong? Even the Thunder Wing Beast, a mighty Demon Beast, was nothing but a “tiny reptile” in his eyes.
Gu Shengyin watched the scene in the arena, not the least bit worried for Eve Heather. With the Demon King, that ancient creature who had lived for ten thousand years around, even if she wanted to die, it probably would be difficult.
However, the Demon King in the arena had a strange feeling.
It seemed as though someone was watching him, and that person was the reason why he had been unable to calm his mind and was so eager to come to the Royal Capital.
His Divine Sense swept over the spectator seats, quickly locking onto a spot.
There was a figure in a black cloak with the face unseen. Judging by the body shape, they should still be in the human growth period.
The Demon King felt his soul burning with desire. He longed to approach that figure right now, lift the cloak, and see the person who had so deeply affected him, to find out who they really were.
In the arena, only one survivor was left, Eve Heather, whose body was being manipulated by the Demon King.
Each time people thought she was about to meet her demise, the tiny figure would narrowly escape danger.
This wouldn’t do if it continued; sooner or later, someone would notice something was amiss. The Demon King’s expression turned stern.
