Toma: Reincarnated as the Knight's Adopted Son Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Deity of Creation, Deuro

Level up!

Skill "Transformation" leveled up!

Yes! I’ve reached level 100!

This is the level I promised to reach for “The Nameless Forgotten One”!

And my Transformation skill leveled up too!

Transformation, Level 3: You can now view a location A and switch it with location B.

Hmm… could this be… teleportation?

“Hey, Toma. What’s up?” Ben asked.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” I replied, quickly closing my status screen.

This is a dungeon, after all. We never know when a monster might attack.

“Sorry about that. Let’s keep going.”

Still, I can barely hold back my excitement. I want to rush out of here and get to the temple right now, but I don’t want to inconvenience Ben and Sharmi.

After a few more battles, we eventually made it out of the dungeon without further incidents.

“Are you sure you’re okay with leaving the dismantling to us?” Ben asked.

“You were acting restless in there, so if there’s something you need to do, just go on ahead,” Sharmi said with a smile.

“I’ll handle the dismantling properly. Ben would just ruin the materials with his brute strength.”

“What? That’s not fair!”

I laughed. “Thanks, both of you! I owe you one. See you later!”

With a wave, I turned and dashed toward the temple.

When I reached the temple’s gate, I stopped to catch my breath.

Inside, a few villagers were praying. I walked quietly to the statue of the god with the face and name erased.

Finally, I’ve made it here. I raised my level to 100, just as I promised.

I knelt on my left knee, closed my eyes, and clasped my hands together.

At that moment, a feeling of weightlessness enveloped me.

Darkness. It was like the abyss I’d been cast into by those despicable gods before reincarnating.

“Welcome, my follower.”

It’s an honor to meet you again.

“Honored, are you? Remember, Toma, this is only a stepping stone. You are here to defy the gods of this world, and a mere level 100 is far from sufficient.”

Yes, I’m fully aware. Please, continue to guide me.

“Then, your next task is to spread my name throughout the world.”

Will you reveal your name to me?

“Of course. To spread it, you must know it. My name is Deuro, the ‘God of Creation, Deuro.’”

The “God of Creation, Deuro”… I’ll spread your name!

“Good. Direct the faith they receive toward me.”

So, you want me to divert their followers’ faith to you!

“Exactly. By gathering enough faith, those gods will weaken, as I once was forgotten.”

And even if I can’t destroy them, making them suffer and helping you reclaim your power will satisfy me too!

“Use any means you see fit. Also, conceal my title as the ‘God of Creation.’ Only spread my name.”

May I ask why?

“Imagine how their zealots would react upon hearing ‘God of Creation.’”

They’d try to kill me, wouldn’t they?

“Precisely. I can’t overlook anything that puts you in danger. Present me as a… suitable god. Ah, how about ‘God of Sake’ based on that sake you created?”

Thank you for your foresight, Deuro.

“Remember, there are many who still worship those gods. Be careful.”

Yes! I’ll chip away at their faith and direct it toward you!

May I ask one question?

“It’s about me, isn’t it?”

Yes. Why was your name stripped away, and… since you’re the ‘God of Creation,’ does that mean you created this world?

“Indeed, I created Forthdaria. Nirgneed, the one currently revered as the Chief Deity, was simply a caretaker of this world.”

Then… how did things come to this?

“To put it simply, betrayal. I was the sole god of Forthdaria, and they were merely servants, or as you’d call them, angels.”

Come to think of it, they had angelic wings and halos.

“Those are symbols of servitude. True gods, like myself, don’t have them.”

So, they betrayed you and stole this world. They really are despicable beings, defying even a god. I remember how selfish they were toward me—they don’t deserve any sympathy. I’ll strip them of their followers without mercy!

Deuro granted me this new life and a chance to avenge myself. I have to see this through. But I need a plan to take away their followers.

“Toma.”

Yes?

“Never underestimate them. Though gods and angels can’t interfere directly with Forthdaria, they can send heroes to intervene. Nirgneed, in particular, is cunning and won’t give up his seat easily. Be on guard.”

Yes! I’ll stay vigilant for summoned champions.

Oh, by the way, what happened to my former classmates? Were they summoned somewhere far away?

“When you turn seventeen, they will be summoned. Expect most of them to become your enemies.”

Wait, they’ll be summoned when I’m seventeen?

“The place you drifted through after your death was a void between dimensions, with no consistent flow of time compared to Forthdaria or your former world.”

A different concept of time… That’s why I wandered for so long without aging.

“Our time here is ending. Return to the temple when you reach level 200.”

Understood. I will rise to the challenge, gather faith for Deuro, and repay your kindness.

“Good. I’m counting on you.”

I returned from the world of darkness to the temple.

Meeting with Deuro clarified my goal. I’ll do it—I’ll diminish their followers’ faith and direct it all toward Deuro!

As I stood up and bowed to Deuro’s statue, I felt something strange.

“…Huh?”

The pedestal now displayed Deuro’s name!

“And… his face…”

The statue’s face had also been restored.

“Ohhhhh!”

The villagers who were praying turned and gasped.

“A miracle! It’s a miracle of the gods!”

“What?”

They were shouting and celebrating, calling it a miracle that Deuro’s face and name had been restored. The commotion drew the priest’s attention, and he rushed over.

“What’s going… huh?”

The priest stared up at Deuro’s statue, dumbfounded.
