"No, thank you." Mason exhaled and said to Nanny Rong, "You should go rest."
Mason turned and went upstairs, hesitated in front of the bedroom door, stood there for a long time, but eventually pushed it open and went inside.
There was the sound of steady deep breathing, Mason saw Aurelia Shaw curled up in the blanket, the air conditioning was set low, she hugged the blanket with her knees bent, curled up like a shrimp, with her hands outside, one leg sprawled over the blanket.
Mason touched her foot, it was cold.
His eyes showed a hint of exasperation. This habit of hers of setting the air conditioner to the lowest temperature, when did she develop it? She liked sleeping with the air conditioner on, always setting it to 20 degrees.
In their past life, because of this quirk, she inexplicably caught colds numerous times during summer.
He used to wonder about it, until once he happened to visit her and found the room unusually cold. Then he realized she slept with the air conditioning on, limbs exposed, the blanket kicked to the floor, cold and curled up, yet didn't wake.
Mason sighed helplessly.
He held her little foot, put it under the blanket, tucked her arm inside too, and covered her properly with the blanket, then sat by the bed watching her peaceful sleeping face.
He didn't know how long he watched.
Aurelia murmured something in her sleep.
Mason's heart skipped a beat; was she waking up? He suddenly felt a touch of panic.
After avoiding her all day, if she discovered him in her room at midnight.
How would he explain?
His biggest fear was still her saying that one word: "divorce."

But Aurelia simply turned over and continued sleeping, the blanket that had just been tucked in was kicked to the bed's edge in a blink, she hugged a corner, curling her back.
Mason sighed helplessly, then also let out a sigh of relief, pulling the blanket back over her, he saw that within minutes, she would kick it off again, so he held down the sides of the blanket, not allowing her any more movement.

"Sigh." Mason sighed, brushing her hair off her forehead. "Why so heart-wrenching."
Mason gently kissed her forehead.
Softly, he murmured, "I'm sorry, Aurelia."
He was the one who hurt her the most.
The one who, with his own hands, brutally tore her heart out.
No matter how many apologies, Mason knew he couldn't make up for her past life.
He could only use all he had to make up for her present, to ensure she never suffers again in this lifetime, but... for him, who remembers their past life's memories, he could never forgive the self that once hurt her.
