Jovana Shaw covered her aching face, tears rolling from her eyes. "So…is that house just going to Aurelia Shaw ? Mom, that's the house you gave me, I won't let that bitch Aurelia have it."
Clara Philips rubbed her aching temples, glancing at Jovana Shaw's swollen face, regretting her heavy hand. What if she accidentally ruined this face? How would her daughter marry into a wealthy family then?
She had worked so hard for years, elevating her not-so-clever daughter to a position in the student council, using her network to groom her daughter into a socialite. Everything she did, how could she let Aurelia Shaw ruin it?
"Don't worry, I'll make her pay the appropriate price! That house is definitely yours!"
Jovana Shaw threw herself into Clara Philips' arms, "Mom, you must help me seize that house. Aurelia's things are mine! She doesn't deserve such good things; they're all mine! They're all things she took from me!"
They are mine, her mother had been telling her since childhood. What Aurelia Shaw possesses should have been hers all along. Aurelia doesn't deserve these things, she is the true owner of them.
Mom would never lie to her.
"Yes, they're all yours."
Clara Philips gently patted Jovana Shaw's back, her eyes flashing with a cold gleam.
After lunch in the afternoon, Aurelia Shaw took a nap, feeling a wave of drowsiness again. Recently, she was becoming increasingly sleepy, possibly because life had become too easy and comfortable, causing her nerves to suddenly relax.
Aurelia Shaw knew this couldn't go on; she needed to find something to keep her nerves on edge.
Just then, her phone received a call from an unknown number.
"Sister-in-law." A frivolous voice came through the receiver, and Aurelia Shaw immediately recognized who it was, her eyebrows knitting in slight surprise. "How did you get my phone number?"
On the other end, Grayson Quinn laughed mysteriously, "Oh, sister-in-law, don't you know? There's nothing I can't find out if I want to."
"Oh?" Aurelia Shaw's voice rose, her beautiful eyes shining with a flamboyant brightness. "So last time you did it on purpose?"
Grayson Quinn fell silent at the mention of last time.
Last time, he tried to set a trap for her but ended up falling into one himself.
It was the first time he had suffered such a setback in his life.
Grayson Quinn quickly changed the subject, brushing past the previous awkwardness. "Sister-in-law, you must be pretty bored at home recently, right? How about I take you somewhere fun, wanna go?"
Aurelia Shaw hung up immediately after speaking. Grayson Quinn hadn't expected her to refuse so bluntly. He was stunned for two seconds before realizing it, feeling so exasperated he wanted to punch something! Someone had actually hung up on him! In his whole life, besides Mason Nightshade, she was the first person who dared to hang up on him!
Suppressing the urge to roar in frustration, Grayson Quinn dialed her number again, realizing to his disbelief that he was getting used to this mode of being suppressed and ignored. Grayson absolutely didn't want to admit that after being under Mason Nightshade's thumb, he was now being overshadowed by his wife.
"It's a fun place, are you going?!" This time, Grayson Quinn's tone was not pleasant.
Aurelia Shaw didn't say a word and just hung up the call again.
Grayson Quinn, looking at his phone that was hung up once more, felt a mess in the wind, irritably yanked a handful of hair, and with his fingertip harshly tapping the screen, dialed her number yet again. This time, his voice was much softer, "It really is a fun place. If you don't enjoy it, I owe you one, how about that?"
