Titan Jennings cleared his throat softly, glanced at the woman behind him, and then looked at Aurelia Shaw. His face grew colder as he said coldly, "You should take a break at home for a while. As for your role... I’ve already found someone else to replace you."
Aurelia Shaw frowned, "But I haven’t received any notification saying my role has been replaced."
"I discussed this with your agent yesterday," Titan Jennings said grimly, frowning and glancing at Audrey Wood. Seeing Audrey’s reaction, he understood. Audrey Wood hurriedly stepped forward, regretfully tapping her forehead, lamenting, "My fault, I’ve been swamped recently and forgot to tell you."
Aurelia Shaw raised her eyebrows, looking at Audrey Wood with an ambiguous expression. She glimpsed a fleeting trace of schadenfreude and smugness in Audrey’s eyes. This morning she had just confirmed this matter over the phone, and now Audrey claims she forgot?
She smiled faintly, her expression remaining calm and composed, speaking in a cool tone, "Director Jennings, we signed a contract between us. You can’t just cancel my role without saying a word; this doesn’t seem right, does it?"
Her almond-shaped eyes glinted sharply; her speaking tone was calm and gentle, yet it subtly exerted a strong pressure.
Titan Jennings had faced many challenges in life; how dare a newbie girl suppress him with momentum? She should weigh her own worth. He suddenly slammed the table, yelling harshly, "You know well the shady things you’ve done. Do you intend to drag the crew down with you? When it’s spreading wildly online, do you think deleting the posts makes you untouchable, as if no one knows the dirty deeds you’ve done?"
Titan Jennings’ words were sharp and scornful, laughing dismissively, "You’ve suppressed the reports now, but what happens if they’re uncovered when the show airs? Do you expect the entire crew to worry and be dragged down by you? Can you bear the consequences of a billion-dollar investment? Can you afford the losses?"
"So, you withdrew my role because of those false reports online?" Aurelia Shaw was strangely calm. Compared to Titan Jennings’ rage, her stillness was unsettling. Her voice was still smooth and slow, like a snake gently luring with its flickering tongue.
Titan Jennings glanced at her, sensing something unusual about her today, but didn’t think much of it. He snorted coldly, retorting, "Otherwise?"
"Aurelia," amid the tense standoff, a gentle female voice abruptly sounded.
Dovina, who had been silent behind Titan Jennings, suddenly spoke up. She glanced at Titan Jennings, then awkwardly looked at Aurelia Shaw, considerately saying, "Aurelia, Director Jennings’ words might sound harsh, but they do have a point. Think about it, you were lucky to suppress the news this time, but what about next time? Who’s to say someone wouldn’t bring up old issues out of jealousy? When that time comes..."
She hesitated for a moment, casting a meaningful glance at Aurelia Shaw before continuing,
"Filming a drama takes over a year of dedication, and nobody wants any trouble midway. I imagine you feel the same, right?"
Dovina really put a big hat on Aurelia Shaw. If Aurelia insisted on reclaiming her role, she’d be deemed unreasonable, selfishly prioritizing herself, infringing on everyone’s interests. This would be the trigger point for outrage amongst them.
She slightly narrowed her eyes, her gaze shimmering as she shallowly looked at this seemingly innocent and naive woman.
