Aurelia Shaw didn’t know what Mason Nightshade suddenly got into, changing his decision from that day. She didn’t care what he thought, after all, he had never cared about her as his wife. As long as she didn’t cross his line, he always treated her as a stranger, turning a blind eye.
Today, maybe he suddenly wanted to be heroic and saved her, but after returning home and thinking it over, he felt that letting her off so easily was too generous. So, he came to her room, intending to ask for some "compensation."
Aurelia Shaw tightly furrowed her brows, her clear voice suddenly dropping a few tones, "I didn’t ask you to save me today!"
Mason Nightshade raised his eyes in surprise, looking at her askew. They stared at each other for a while until Mason suddenly lifted his right hand. On his sturdy arm was a hideous wound; the bandage had been removed, the flesh soaked to a ghastly pale, the skin was torn, and faintly seeping blood again.
Aurelia Shaw disapproved of that wound, seriously suspecting that Mason Nightshade was self-harming, trying to pin it on her.
Aurelia Shaw turned around, pulled the quilt to get out of bed, and searched in the cabinet for a while.
Mason Nightshade frowned, watching her thin back as she half-squatted there, his injured leg spread out awkwardly to one side. It looked quite comical, not knowing what she was searching for.
After a while, she returned bouncing over with a pile of things and threw them on the bed before climbing onto it.
The items in her arms scattered everywhere. Mason Nightshade glanced sideways at the pile: potion, bandages, ointment... His eyebrows slightly raised, vaguely understanding her intention, and his thin, cold lips unknowingly curved into a faint, hard-to-notice arc.
Aurelia Shaw grasped his wrist, placing it on top of her knees.
As his arm touched that smooth, delicate skin, Mason Nightshade’s body stiffened, his throat involuntarily rolling, and his ear tips suddenly turned red.
Aurelia Shaw didn’t notice this. She lowered her eyes, and her slender, fair fingers first cleaned his wound smoothly, applied ointment, and then bandaged it. Intentional or not, she was heavy-handed during the application, yet Mason didn’t blink, giving her a sense of frustration, her revenge feeling rather futile.
Watching her skillful movements as if she’d done it countless times before, Mason Nightshade casually asked, "Have you bandaged someone else before?"
Aurelia Shaw’s hand paused suddenly at his words, her gaze dimming a bit, though she quickly hid that emotion again, finishing the bandage. She retrieved the items and lightly advised, "Don’t let it get wet for the next few days."
The bandage was indeed well done, at least much more elegant and attractive than the rough guys in his unit. Mason Nightshade gazed down, admiring it for a while, and suddenly decided generously, "From now on, you’ll be the one to change my bandages."
Aurelia Shaw furrowed her brows, her mouth slightly agape, not having the chance to refute before the man’s slightly threatening voice slowly said, "I got injured because of you. You wouldn’t want to be uninvolved, right?"
Indeed, she was being pinned for it. Aurelia Shaw sighed inwardly, but this was better than him making unreasonable demands.
If he likes to suffer while getting bandaged, why should she interfere? A cunning cold light flashed in Aurelia’s eyes.
Mason Nightshade’s deep black eyes slightly squinted.
Why did he feel her gaze just now was so unfriendly?
The room suddenly sounded.
Aurelia Shaw’s heart skipped a beat. She didn’t understand what got into Mason Nightshade that he suddenly didn’t care about their relationship being exposed. But she didn’t want their connection to be made public now, so she automatically lowered her voice a few tones and answered, "What is it?"
Simultaneously, she shot a wary glance at the man from the corner of her eye.
