"Brother-in-law, try this bone soup. I heard from Dad that you’d be coming today, so I stewed it all night, not sure how it tastes. If you like it, I can make it for you often." Jovana’s face blushed slightly as she ladled a bowl of bone soup for Mason Nightshade, sneaking glances at his handsome, cold face.
Mason Nightshade smiled faintly and nodded to Jovana Shaw, but there was a slight distance in his mild words.
"Brother-in-law, you don’t have to be polite with me. I know these things sister isn’t capable of; raised in the family with pampering, she’s never set foot in the kitchen. Maybe she’s a bit spoiled by Dad and Mom and can’t take care of you in some ways. If you like, I can often make it for you." Jovana showed an adorable smile, her gaze fixed on Mason Nightshade, a hint of adoration in her eyes.
Mason’s eyes darkened slightly, a thin, cold smile playing on his lips toward Jovana Shaw. "No need, if she doesn’t like doing these things, then she doesn’t have to. After all, there are servants at home, and besides..." He paused, glanced at the thick soup, then continued, "I don’t kind of soup either."
"Then what kind of soup do you like, brother-in-law? I can make it for you, and if I don’t know how, I can learn." Jovana seemed not to hear Mason’s refusal, her eyes sparkled as she pursued.
Mason’s lips curled into a half-smile, a mischievous glint in his eyes, "Thank you for your kind offer, Miss Shaw, but these matters are for the house staff. If Miss Shaw is truly interested in this..." He thought of something and chuckled lightly, "The kitchen does need a head cook."
Jovana Shaw’s face turned unpleasant.
"But having Miss Shaw as my head cook seems a bit too beneath her, and I have very high standards for my meals. Most cook’s dishes don’t suit my taste."
"Pfft!" A low laugh escaped, followed by a cough from Aurelia Shaw as she wiped her mouth with a tissue. Her stunning face turned slightly red from the cough, and she lightly laughed as she spoke to the others, "Sorry, I drank too fast and choked a bit."
She casually wiped her mouth with a tissue.
She always knew Mason was sly; who would’ve thought his words could be so sharp.
This was basically saying Jovana was a cook, and not even a qualified one. This would definitely leave Jovana feeling frustrated, it’s truly satisfying.
