In the past, she was naïve and overly generous, but now, she wouldn’t leave even a penny to this mother and daughter.
"I left my bracelet upstairs. You all start eating first, I’ll go back to my room," Aurelia Shaw put down her knife and fork, got up, and called for a servant.
"Is it the bracelet Caspian gave you? I didn’t expect you to still wear it after all these years." Clara Philips suddenly said, smiling, "I remember when you were little, you were closest to Caspian. You weren’t close to anyone else but were always glued to him, calling him Caspian brother, saying you’d marry him when you grew up. Caspian adored you, even saying that when you grew up, he’d make sure you’d be his bride."
Aurelia Shaw’s spine stiffened, she stood there, rigid as a petrified statue, her fingers quietly clenched.
"If Caspian hadn’t suddenly gone abroad..." Clara Philips said regretfully, "He called the other day, asking about your recent situation. Clearly, Caspian still cares for you. You shouldn’t throw a tantrum with him, or in the end, you’ll be the one who’s heartbroken."
"Ha!" A cold smile spread on Aurelia Shaw’s lips as she looked at Clara Philips, raised her hand, and with a "slap," she hit her. Her sharp eyes narrowed coldly at Clara, arrogantly and coldly saying, "It’s none of your business to tell me what to do. I won’t argue with you for spreading my business, but if you dare to speak out of turn again, I’ll tear that mouth of yours apart!"
Aurelia Shaw grabbed a fork from the table and suddenly swiped past Clara Philips’s face. Clara, not expecting Aurelia to act on her words, screamed in fright, rolled, and crawled away to the floor, clutching her face, hysterically crying, "My face, my face! Don’t let her ruin my face! Balthazar, save me!"
Something cold whizzed past Clara Philips’s neck and stuck into the floor.
Aurelia Shaw coldly warned, "I skimmed your neck this time just to teach you a lesson. Next time, I’ll slice your face!"
Terrified, Clara Philips’s face turned pale, her legs went limp as she slumped to the ground, her hair in disarray, eyes vacant and empty, crying continuously, still shaken by what had just happened, almost believing her face would be disfigured. This Aurelia Shaw was terrifying; she was a demon.
"Bang!" A loud thud as Balthazar Shaw slammed the table, his face dark with anger, glaring at Aurelia.
Aurelia’s peach-blossom eyes slightly lifted to meet his furious gaze,
Balthazar was about to scold, but out of the corner of his eye caught a cold and sharp look, suddenly blocking the words in his throat.
Mason Nightshade sat on the chair, calm and composed.
It seemed like everything that happened here had nothing to do with him. His long arm was draped over the back of Aurelia’s chair, his posture lazy, his cold gaze swept over everyone, finally softening as he looked at Aurelia Shaw, the corners of his mouth lifting, watching his little wife lose her temper with great interest.
"Enough!" Balthazar Shaw said in a deep voice, his tone wasn’t good, but he was not as furious as before, "It’s not easy for the family to sit down for a meal together, so what’s with all this fuss? A mother not acting like a mother, a daughter not acting like a daughter, do you want to entertain the servants?"
"Balthazar, it was her..." Clara Philips said, covering her swollen, red, and high cheek, tears in her eyes, tearfully complaining to Balthazar Shaw. The incident happened right in front of Balthazar’s eyes; she didn’t believe that he will let Aurelia off lightly this time.
