Chapter 89: ZA WARUDO!
"Is that Kenji’s aura?"
"And the other presence is... a Blue Nitro?"
Jiro’s brow furrowed, his eyes glinting. Having eaten so many Nitro in his life, he was no stranger to their aura. It had been well-hidden before, but in the heat of battle, it was completely exposed.
To dare lay a hand on my student... these lizards must have a death wish.
"Setsu-chan, I’m going to go take a look."
After saying this, Jiro vanished in an instant. Setsuno didn’t try to stop him. A Blue Nitro attacking Jiro-kun’s student? They were getting arrogant.
"Who is it fighting...?"
Ichiryu sat up from his lounge chair, taking off his sunglasses. His expression turned serious as he looked towards Kenji’s location. The Blue Nitro had been inactive for years, yet here one was, fighting openly in the Human World. This was outrageous. They were clearly looking down on them. Perhaps it was time for him to get some exercise.
Midora merely glanced in their direction before returning to his meal. It’s just a little lizard. Those two old geezers aren’t pushovers.
In the Gourmet World, the Eight Kings glanced over before retracting their gazes. The affairs of the Human World were of little concern to them. The other Blue Nitro were a bit surprised that PAIR would make a move in the Human World, but they were confident it could escape if needed.
"Hah... This should be enough."
Kenji absorbed all of the gathered starlight into his body, and his appearance underwent a dramatic change. A fierce starlight burned within his eyes, making them too majestic to look upon directly. Constellations seemed to flicker across his skin, and while it wasn’t as deep a color as a Dragon King’s, a celestial blue light pulsed from him. Commanding the stars in the name of a Dragon King... for someone of his current strength, this technique was a perfect fit.
Kenji’s base strength, converted to a Capture Level, was around 2000. It had now doubled to over 4000, a level his body could just barely manage. Absorbing any more starlight would make it difficult to control. It wasn’t an overwhelming amount of power, but it was enough.
"I’ll use you to test out a new move I redeemed."
"Time Jacker’s ability... Time, stop!"
Kenji threw his arms wide and shouted, "ZA WARUDO!" An invisible ripple exploded from him, instantly engulfing the entire sea area. The drifting clouds, the churning waves, the leaping flying fish—everything froze in an instant, as if someone had pressed the pause button. He had used the points he’d saved up to redeem the Time Jacker’s time-stopping ability for fun. It could freeze the flow of time within a certain range, bringing all living things to a standstill.
Although he could only afford a "three-second man" version, it was more than enough to play with.
Here’s a joke: the king of time gets stopped by time.
"Starlight... Burst!"
Gathering the power of the stars in his fists, Kenji, who could move freely within the stopped time, landed a rapid succession of blows on PAIR’s abdomen. He had to return the favor for the earlier sucker punch, but with interest.
"One second of stopped time left."
"Time for your ’nucleic acid’ test."
"Stellar Core... Ignition!"
Kenji pried open PAIR’s sharp beak, stuffed a glowing, unstable star core into its mouth, and then clamped it shut.
"Core" acid test—complete.
Time resumed its flow.
PAIR’s body shot through the air, creating sonic booms. It felt as if an endless barrage of stars was exploding within it. Kenji’s power was now something it could no longer underestimate.
Using a special technique, it managed to vent a portion of the rampaging energy inside it, and the remaining impact caused no significant damage. However, the flames erupting from its mouth burned off all the fur on its head, giving it a limited-edition "monk" hairstyle. Looking good~
"Damn you!" PAIR let out a furious roar. For such a weak human to injure it... This child must not be allowed to live.
Kenji wasn’t surprised by the outcome. Blue Nitro were no ordinary creatures, after all. He was only at a level of 4000-plus; how could he possibly defeat a Blue Nitro with a level around 6000? The time-stop was just that useful.
However, it was time for a switch. Big shots, it’s your time to shine.
"Little lizard, shouldn’t you be staying in the Gourmet World? Did you come here looking to die?" A youthful Jiro appeared in an instant, looking down on the Blue Nitro PAIR with contempt. He hadn’t eaten Nitro in years. Oh well, might as well have a snack today.
"Yo, Jiro, you got here fast," Ichiryu said, standing high in the sky. He was a bit surprised to see Jiro looking so young.
PAIR looked at the two renowned powerhouses, Ichiryu and Jiro. As a Blue Nitro, it had its pride. It wanted to see if their skills had dulled over the years, so it charged forward to test their mettle.
Kenji released his power-up, scratching his head. Are Blue Nitro always this brave? Has it never witnessed the power of Jiro and Ichiryu? How dare it?
I may not be able to beat it right now, but that doesn’t mean others can’t.
The sky had cleared, the rain had stopped, and PAIR felt like it was on top of the world again.
Two and a half minutes later.
The blood-soaked Blue Nitro, PAIR, flew through the air at high speed. It had two broken arms, a crippled leg, and even half of its face had been blown off. It looked like a broken toy. It had charged in, and now it was sent flying.
Are these guys monsters?! Ichiryu hadn’t even made a move. Jiro had finished it in just a few quick exchanges, sending it flying with a final Guinness Punch. He was likely holding back to avoid damaging the Human World, otherwise he would have killed PAIR on the spot.
That bastard Acacia’s disciples are all freaks, PAIR thought. Fine, I’ll report what I saw of Kenji to Joie and the others first.
"Ichiryu, the Blue Nitro are getting active again. Shouldn’t we start preparing to capture those ingredients?" After not fighting for so long, the Blue Nitro had served as a nice warm-up for Jiro.
"The preparations are nearly complete."
"So this is your disciple? He’s quite outstanding," Ichiryu said, looking at Kenji with admiration. He was about the same age as Toriko and the others, but he was able to hold off a Blue Nitro for a short while. He was incredibly capable. The future belonged to the young people. It was time for old geezers like them to retire.
"Greetings, Master-Uncle Ichiryu." Kenji curiously sized up the president of the IGO. Ichiryu had no intimidating aura about him; he was a very approachable person. In terms of charisma and character among all the figures in Toriko, no one could likely surpass Ichiryu. Even Don Slime flew into a rage when NEO mocked Ichiryu during their great battle, which just showed how Ichiryu’s charisma had conquered even the Gourmet Demon.
"Kenji, how did you end up fighting a Blue Nitro?" Ichiryu asked, puzzled. Although Kenji could trade a few blows with it, given his base strength, a Blue Nitro shouldn’t have attacked him in the first place.
"I don’t know either. The Blue Nitro attacked first. I was just defending myself," Kenji shrugged. He was just as confused; he had never even seen PAIR before.
Ichiryu stroked his chin, lost in thought. Kenji did possess a very special power with limitless potential. Could that be the reason?
"They’re just a bunch of lizards. When you get a little stronger, Kenji, you can just catch them and serve them as appetizers with your drinks," Jiro said dismissively.
"The Blue Nitro may not be a match for you, Jiro, but a battle at your level would affect the entire planet," Ichiryu said with a helpless smile. He had faith in his junior brother’s strength. Even if several Blue Nitro ganged up on him, Jiro could handle them with ease. But a full-power Jiro could accidentally deal a heavy blow to the planet under their feet.
Kenji nodded in agreement. Starting with Jiro’s battles, if Setsuno hadn’t been there to protect the Human World, their little planet would have blown up long ago. The power levels in the Human World arc were relatively normal, but once the story moved to the Gourmet World, things started getting absurd. The Horse King Heracles’s breathing could pierce the planet, and the Monkey King Bambina used giant mountains to play skip-rock... Especially in the last few Chapters, it was a miracle the Earth didn’t just explode.
