Under the guidance of a guard, Mr. Mo quickly understood which direction the Tang Family’s pharmacy was, and rushed towards it.
After throwing up, Mrs. Mo lost her appetite and, supported by a maid, returned to her room to rest half-reclining.
"Lady, how can you not eat?"
Concerned, the maid expressed worry, as with her lady feeling unwell, she herself had lost her appetite.
"Prepare a cup of honey tea for me."
"Lady, if you’re feeling unwell, you shouldn’t drink floral tea, just have a cup of honey tea!"
The maid brewed a cup of honey tea for Mrs. Mo with warm water; the honey was, of course, a gift from Lady Ye as a token of respect.
Sometimes, the lady and her son-in-law would ask her to help prepare tea, and she too could enjoy a fortunate sip of honey tea.
In this scenic place, the complexions of the son-in-law and lady had improved compared to before, and even their skin seemed whiter.
Previously afflicted with acne, their skin had become smooth after coming to this beautiful place, not only were there no new breakouts, but the old acne scars had also disappeared.
The maid noticed that after drinking the honey tea, the pallor from vomiting had slightly improved for the lady.
After drinking the honey tea, Mrs. Mo felt less nauseous and asked the maid to help her lie down in bed.
Once in bed, Mrs. Mo felt very sleepy and thus closed her eyes to rest.
Mr. Mo forcibly brought the senior doctor from the Tang Family Medical Hall, who was in the middle of a meal, to the Tang household.
The senior doctor’s legs were still strong; hurried by this young man, he nearly stumbled.
Usually, he brought an apprentice when seeing patients, but this time, hastily dragged along, he barely managed to grab a medical kit. Fortunately, the young man helped with the kit, or else he might have been dragged down.
The senior doctor, with a very ethical approach to medicine, and upon hearing it involved the Tang family, proceeded to see the patients, Mr. and Mrs. Mo.
The senior doctor did not question why the other two doctors of the Tang family weren’t attending to the illness, one of whom was his son.
The elderly man understood well that where there are people, there is competition; he and his son both employees, had to compete with other doctors just to make a living.
A family of medical practitioners, now even his grandson had become his apprentice.
Mr. Mo led the doctor into the room to treat his wife, breathed a sigh of relief upon entering, and then for the first time noticed the paleness of the woman lying on the bed.
Doctors often deduce the condition of an illness from a patient’s facial expression, observing the color and features, which in the eyes of a doctor, speak volumes.
This was the senior doctor, who felt a tinge of pain in his hand, shook it slightly with a hint of resentment, and said:
"Young man, your grip is too strong."
Ashamed upon hearing the doctor’s plaintive voice, Mr. Mo bowed apologetically:
"I am terribly sorry, Doctor. I was just anxious. Please excuse my impertinence and examine my wife."
The senior doctor, not bearing any grudge with the young man, sat down by the bedside on a stool provided by the maid, who also wrapped a handkerchief around the lady’s wrist. He gently placed his hand over the handkerchief on the wrist’s pulse points.
Having discussed his wife’s condition with Mr. Mo during their rush, the doctor, seeing Mrs. Mo’s rosy complexion, had an understanding.
As the doctor examined Mrs. Mo, Mr. Mo nervously watched, fearing she had fallen asleep because of discomfort or even fainted.
He refrained from asking the maid, fearing that speaking might disturb the doctor’s examination.
Mrs. Mo thus lay in bed breathing steadily; even with a stranger entering, she did not wake, nor did she feel the stranger taking her pulse.
The maid stood by, clutching the handkerchief tightly, her affection for her mistress akin to that between real sisters.
After checking one wrist, the doctor then touched his whitened goatee with a small smile on his face.
Feigning seriousness, this made Mr. Mo anxiously ask:
"Doctor, what is wrong with my wife?"
"Your wife has a slippery pulse."
"Doctor, what exactly is wrong with my wife? Then prescribe some medicine for me to fetch!"
"Don’t rush; do you even know your wife’s condition to be fetching medicine so hurriedly?"
"Doctor, please explain! What is wrong with my wife?"
Under the doctor’s dragging manner, Mr. Mo sweated more profusely, sweating even in winter, feeling his back drenched.
"Young man, don’t worry, I’m here to congratulate you! Your wife is pregnant."
