Chapter 31: I’m Staying Put!
In the detention center, Lin Tai had a comfortable nap. Hard to believe, but it was the most restful, guilt-free sleep he’d had since his return—and it was in the detention center, of all places.
Because only in the detention center did the plot feel normal. Outside, the storyline was a chaotic mess that exhausted him mentally. He’d rather hide out here for some peace and quiet.
“Brother, looking at you, you’re some rich family’s young master, right? How’d you end up here?” In the cell next to Lin Tai’s, a bald man spoke up. He looked tough and asked as soon as he saw Lin Tai wake up.
“Public brawl,” Lin Tai replied, instantly recognizing the man.
Zhao Gang. In his previous life, they met in the detention center and got along fairly well. After getting out, Zhao Gang sought out Lin Tai, wanting to follow him. When Lin Tai caused trouble at a film set and got beaten up, it was Zhao Gang who suggested setting a fire to kill Ye Bai. He even took action when Lin Tai hesitated, only to pin the blame on Lin Tai later. But in the plot, Zhao Gang was Ye Bai’s man from the start, cozying up to Lin Tai now just to set him up later.
“What about you, big bro?” Knowing Zhao Gang was a supporting character, Lin Tai didn’t make things difficult for him. After all, he still needed to use him to follow the plot.
“Same as you, public brawl,” Zhao Gang replied.
“Well, damn, we’re fated, aren’t we?” With nothing better to do, Lin Tai chatted idly with Zhao Gang.
That is, until a guard hurriedly approached and opened Lin Tai’s cell door.
“You’re Lin Tai, right? Come with me. You’re free to go,” the guard said, double-checking.
“What did you say?” Lin Tai was stunned by the guard’s sudden words.
“Officer, you must be mistaken. I’m detained for seven days. It hasn’t even been half a day!” Lin Tai realized someone might be trying to bail him out.
No way. Lin Zhentian was strict with him.
“You’ve been bailed out,” the guard continued.
“Bailed out? By who?”
“Our Captain Su,” the guard answered.
“Su Yanfei?” Lin Tai froze. What the hell was Su Yanfei doing barging into this?
He was certain this part of the plot didn’t involve anyone bailing him out. In his previous life, after Su Yanfei dropped him off at the interrogation room, she hadn’t spared him another word!
Why was she bailing him out now?
What the hell was going on? It felt like every time he encountered a female lead, they started acting abnormal. Even Su Yanfei, who had barely any connection to him in his previous life, was now behaving strangely.
Someone tell him what was happening!
“Oh, my mistake. It’s not just Captain Su. There’s also Ms. Xia Shihan, Ms. Xiao Yuxuan, and Ms. Lu Ziyan. Four people bailed you out together.”
The four women had met in the lounge, all with the same goal, and none were willing to back down from bailing out Lin Tai. In the end, they made a special arrangement to jointly bail him out.

One Su Yanfei was bad enough, but now Xia Shihan, Xiao Yuxuan, and Lu Ziyan were joining the fray?
Why were those three getting in on the action?

“No way! Go back and tell them I, Lin Tai, don’t need their bail. I’ll take responsibility for my own actions!” Joking aside, his seven-day stint in the detention center was a legit part of the plot.

“????” Now it was the guard’s turn to be baffled. What the hell?
This was the first time he’d seen someone refuse to leave after being bailed out.
Was their detention center that great?
Not just the guard, but the inmates in nearby cells were stunned. This guy was hardcore! They were dying to get out, desperate for someone to bail them out, yet this guy refused to leave!
They had nothing but a big, bold “RESPECT” for Lin Tai!
“Young Master Lin, stop joking around. Come with me!” The guard gave a wry smile, assuming Lin Tai was just throwing a rich kid tantrum. Unfortunately, he couldn’t afford to offend him, so he could only gently persuade.
“You think I’m joking?” Lin Tai widened his eyes, stepping up to the guard with a serious and earnest expression.
“I’m an outstanding young man raised under the red flag. If I’ve done something wrong, I’ll take responsibility for it. Go back and tell them, I’m staying in this cell today. Not even Jesus can stop me, I said it!” Lin Tai’s face radiated righteous determination, as if he were doing something grand.
Heh, trying to derail the plot? Not in a million years!
“…” The guard was moved by Lin Tai’s impassioned speech, but the moment he remembered Lin Tai was insisting on staying in jail, the guy’s “holiness” faded fast.
You’re about to stay in jail, so what’s with the bravado?
“Badass, brother! I don’t admire anyone, but I admire you!” The inmates in the neighboring cells looked at Lin Tai with awe.
To turn serving time into a point of pride? Only you could pull that off!
