“Gu YunQin. Do you even know what you’re doing right now? Sneaking out in the middle of the night to hang out with a bunch of guys—you're a minor! Driving? That’s not something someone your age should even be thinking about.”
He looked up, meeting her gaze. Gu YunQin quickly looked away.
She knew what she was doing wasn’t right. But still… she came.
Now HuMing finally understood why Grandfather had called her a crazy girl. If no one stopped her in time, he was genuinely afraid she'd do something she’d regret for the rest of her life.
“This is the last night. After tonight, you’re done. Don’t go near these people again. And your crew? Disband them.”
“No ‘but’!” HuMing’s voice suddenly rose, eyes locked on her. Even the people outside the car seemed to notice the change in atmosphere. “I don’t want to see your body dragged back home one day. If you keep this up, I’ll tell your father everything. Then you can figure out what happens next.”
He didn’t say another word. Just turned the key—engine ignited.
HuMing pulled the car up to the starting line. Through the window, he spotted Shi Dan and the traitor sitting in the other car.
Shi Dan, seeing it was HuMing behind the wheel, broke into a grin.
“Gu YunQin, you’ve gotten this timid? Letting a guy who doesn’t even know how to drive race for you? You’ve really lost it. Just wait and see if he can even hit sixty on the road.”
Gu YunQin opened her mouth to retort, but HuMing’s earlier warning echoed in her mind. She went silent.
Who knew what kind of mood her cousin would be in next? Safer to shut up for now.
He leaned one arm on the window, grinning at Shi Dan across the way.
“Who knows? Maybe if I’m too eager to catch up, I’ll forget to brake, floor it, and knock the two of you right off the cliff.”
The smile on Shi Dan’s face instantly froze. The traitor beside him blanched too.
Apparently, HuMing’s “bold stunt” from earlier had rattled them more than a little. Now, they didn’t doubt he might actually do it.
Still, Shi Dan tried to act tough. “Then you can spend the rest of your life in prison.”
“Well, you won’t be around to see it, so what’s it got to do with you?” HuMing shrugged casually, like it really didn’t matter.
Shi Dan gave up arguing. He was already planning to find out everything about this guy the moment the night was over.
In the center of the road, a girl in a revealing outfit strutted between the two sports cars to the beat of blaring music. She raised a small flag.
Engines revved. Tires spun in place, kicking up smoke across the road.
The flag dropped. A gunshot cracked through the air, and in a chorus of screams, the two cars shot forward like arrows from a bow, vanishing into the night.
If you wanted to talk about HuMing’s driving, you’d have to go back—way back. There was a time when HuMin had chased targets down highways.
HuMing had been in the passenger seat then, watching as HuMin’s alluring face transformed into something wild, like a beast from the jungle.
He still remembered that moment. The second HuMin grabbed the wheel, something inside her unleashed.
Now, with his foot on the gas, HuMing showed no sign of slowing down.
Gu YunQin clutched her seatbelt with a death grip.
She was starting to regret this.
She’d thought he didn’t know how to drive. But one glance at the speedometer had her heart hammering. It felt like the road was ready to crash straight into her.
“YunQin, still think this kind of game’s worth it?”
HuMing finally spoke, his voice calm. Gu YunQin instinctively looked in the rearview mirror.
They were already ahead of Shi Dan’s car.
She blinked, dazed. The only thing she remembered was HuMing overtaking them with ease at the last corner.
She turned to look at him—this cousin who’d shown up out of nowhere.
What he did next was insane.
He lowered the window and raised his left hand… flipping an internationally recognized gesture at the cars behind.
That was all Gu YunQin could think.
Apparently provoked by the gesture, the other car gunned it, trying to catch up.
But HuMing held steady ahead of them, not giving even a sliver of an opening.
It felt like being suffocated underwater—no space to breathe, no way to pass.
Inside Shi Dan’s car—
“Pass him! What are you doing?! I paid good money for you to win, not lose!”
“He’s too good. I can’t find an opening!”
The traitor clenched the wheel, lips pressed in a thin line.
He’d never imagined someone could dominate him so thoroughly, keeping him stuck behind without a chance to overtake.
He was planning to pass on the final corner. But then—
He took the corner tight, hugging the wall, drifting right past.
In that one moment, Shi Dan and his driver lost sight of him completely, left staring as his taillights vanished into the dark.
“We… won?” Gu YunQin couldn’t believe it. She turned to HuMing, stunned speechless.
He drove with one hand on the wheel, the other propping up his head by the window.
"Unless they take a helicopter and overtake us, but is it even too late to call for a helicopter now? We’ve already had enough time to run a few laps."
He slammed on the gas, and the car vanished into the night.
No sign of turning back.
