Shu Yan smiled. Holding onto Feng Zeyu, she introduced him to the others. “This is Feng Zeyu, the man that I am seeing. Yu, they are my grandma and grandpa. And they are my big uncle and big aunty.”
“Hi, Grandma and Grandpa. Hi, Big Uncle and Big Aunty,” said Feng Zeyu respectfully while carried gifts in both of his hands.
No matter how they were in the past, the fact that they were Shu Yan’s family would not change. They still needed to put up a good front.
“I’ll call you Yu then. How old are you now?” asked Old Mr. Shu seriously.
“I am 36 years old,” replied Feng Zeyu immediately.
“Hmm, so 10 years older than our Yanyan.” Old Mr. Shu frowned slightly. In the past, Old Mr. Shu would have felt that his granddaughter would be reaching to marry someone like Feng Zeyu. But, after he had met his granddaughter today, he felt that with how she was today, she should be able to find someone with a stronger background and better looking.
“Grandpa, Yu is not an ordinary person. He is a hero who had been to the battle.” Shu Jianyang quickly chimed in and told Feng Zeyu’s story with a lot of embellishments.
Suddenly, Old Mr. Shu felt that his own granddaughter might not be good enough for Feng Zeyu.
“Well, with your history on the battlefield, surely you would have a job readied for you when you returned. How come you started your own business then?” asked Old Mr. Shu Old Mr. Shu again, dubiously.
Feng Zeyu went silent for a little while and, right when Shu Yan was about to change the subject, Feng Zeyu shared his story in its entirety.
“Those people were animals! How could they do that to you. And that girl. How dare she turned around and said it was your fault? They deserved whatever happened to them afterward,” said Old Mrs. Shu angrily.
“I’m just glad it had all been cleared up.” Old Mr. Shu picked up his cup and toasted Feng Zeyu’s, a way of saying that he had been accepted.
The family finished dinner and Old Mr. Shu sat and chatted with Feng Zeyu. Old Mrs. Shu held Shu Yan’s hand.
“He said he has his own business. What kind of business? Does it make a lot of money? Is he a City Nan local? Does he have a house? Is he really okay with your two children? Do you want to give the two children back to the Ye family? You may not know this yet but the woman that married into the Ye family had a miscarriage and hadn’t been able to get pregnant again since. I am sure they will take the children.”
Li Jiaojiao had a miscarriage? Did that mean this world no longer have a female lead?
That news shocked Shu Yan and she quickly pulled Shu Jianyang aside and asked him for details.
“Li Jiaojiao miscarried?”
“Yeah. DIdn’t I tell you?” Shu Jianyang drank quite a bit tonight and replied dizzily.
“No.”
“That’s not important. Whatever that happened to Ye Zhiqiang and Li Jiaojiao had nothing to do with you.” Shu Jianyang couldn’t recall whether he had or had not tell that to Shu Yan.
Shu Yan thought about it some and, Shu Jianyang was right, it had nothing to do with him. But not having a female lead……
That should be fine, right?!

Shu Yan struggled all night long and had dark circles under her eyes when she woke up the next morning. Feng Zeyu was startled when he saw her.
“Are you not feeling well?”
“No. I hadn’t been back in so long that I am not used to it anymore.” Shu Yan changed the subject. “My grandpa talked to you all night long last night. What did you talk about?”
It was basically an investigation into his family like, how big was his family; his approximate net assets; whether he was okay with the fact that Shu Yan had been divorced and had two children.
Feng Zeyu summarized it for Shu Yan and then said, “Old Mr. Shu cares about you quite a bit.”
Shu Yan snickered when she heard that. “That was only because I had donated money to build the roads and that made him look good.”
