Dinner was resolved at a small noodle shop with a modest storefront in the county town. Since they had eaten too well at noon, while ordering in the evening, Cai Wei deliberately chose very light dishes, four bowls of pearl soup and four light side dishes. Although they were vegetarian, they tasted very refreshing, presenting a stark contrast to the greasy meat dishes consumed at noon.
However, this was only Cai Wei’s personal opinion.
Halfway through the meal, she saw Brother Ying’s pained and conflicted bird face, awkwardly swallowing the bland pearl soup in front of him, as if he was swallowing medicine.
