Reminded of the past, Nangong Yi can’t help but feel a mix of frustration, amusement, and annoyance. "That’s an account from eight hundred years ago and yet you’re still bringing it up. It seems you didn’t learn your lesson this morning!" He says, looming his finger which surprisingly probes her. Threateningly, he asks, "Dare to say it again, hmm?"
Cai Wei’s face flushed crimson up to her ears. This scoundrel, ever since he deciphered the structure of a woman’s body, has become relentlessly experimental. Throughout this night, she’s lost count of the times he’s probed her, taking joy in the act like a child who’s discovered candy for the first time. Always finding an excuse to indulge once more, seeing his enthusiasm for this makes her worry that he won’t be able to wait until she reaches adulthood!
"Enough with the childish behavior."
Cai Wei pushed his large hand away, gingerly moving her body away. "You’ll be going to battle tomorrow, get some sleep," she implored.
Nangong Yi reluctantly withdrew his hand, staring at her leerily as if she had taken his supped candy away from him. After considering, he leans back, grabbing hold of her chin and passionately kisses her until her lips swell. Only then does he, satisfied, stop. He embraces her tightly and drifts off to sleep...
On the third watch, Cai Wei wakes up. Nangong Yi has risen, kisses the dreaming Cai Wei, and hurries off after dressing in his clothes and armor.
Cai Wei herself was already awake, just pretending to be asleep with her eyes shut until he had left. She then opens her eyes and enters the space she had set aside.
With the man’s war campaign imminent, she personally makes a large bowl of thin noodles, preparing a dish of mushroom meat sauce. The piping hot noodles, topped with red sauce, smell delicious and are an appetizing sight.
Last but not least, in the forest of the space area, she collects several wild chicken eggs, boils them, peels them, and puts them in a sea bowl.
In her previous life, for every test day, the parents would make noodles and two chicken eggs, it symbolized achieving a perfect score. Unsure of what to prepare for him before he departs for war, she thinks to make noodles, hoping that he can achieve victory on the battlefield.
She cuts a few dried flowers from the small courtyard and puts them in a clean bag, keeping them to make tea for him. In the camp, the soldiers are all waking up, busily dismantling their tents, packing their things, preparing breakfast, and getting ready to depart for Qinlun.
Nangong Yi does a round of inspection in the main camp, instructs a few of his subordinates on some matters, and then returns to his own camp.
Inside the tent, Cai Wei has set the prepared noodles on the table, with some peeled chicken eggs in a big sea bowl, accompanied by a plate of yellow bean sauce on the side.
Seeing the man return, Cai Wei assists him in removing his cloak, and hands him a damp handkerchief while gently saying, "Wipe your hands, let’s eat."
While wiping his hands, Nangong Yi laughingly says, "With such a wife, what more could a husband ask for?"
Cai Wei rolls her eyes at him, chiding sweetly, "Enough with the sweet talk, eat before the food gets cold and doesn’t taste as good."
Nangong Yi takes her hand, they sit down and begins breakfast together.
The noodles that Cai Wei made today are not ordinary noodles, they’re egg noodles. The dough was made by mixing it with scrambled eggs, so besides the scent of wheat, there is also the aroma of eggs in the noodles.
Cai Wei’s culinary skills are great, not as refined as a royal chef, but has its own homemaking flavors that royal meals cannot compete with. Nangong Yi prefers her cooking, having yearned for it ever since he was first hidden in her embroidery room. The reason he hasn’t asked her to cook for him was simply because he doesn’t want her to go through the trouble.
