Cai Wei, rubbing her sore neck, walked out from the inner room.
Chai Feng, with a serious face, hurried in, placing a simple large plate on the desk in the outer room of the tent. The tray was filled with a bowl of white rice, a plate of slightly burnt mashed potatoes, and a savory roast wild chicken.
"Wow, quite a feast!"
Cai Wei rested her hands on the desk, took a whiff of the fragrant roast wild chicken, and looked up at Chai Feng with a teasing smile.
Chai Feng unconsciously furrowed his brow, turned his face away and said, "Royal Consort, please enjoy your meal. I’ll take my leave now."
Cai Wei pointed to the chicken on the desk, raising an eyebrow as she asked, "Does everyone in the camp get some, or is it just for me?"
"I hunted this specifically for you!"
Chai Feng turned his face away, grumbling internally. This chicken took him an entire morning to hunt down in the mountain. If all two or three hundred injured and sick soldiers in the camp were to have chicken, wouldn’t it take forty or fifty chickens?
Cai Wei, tearing off a steaming chicken leg and eating it, said, "Mm, very tasty indeed. But it would have been nice if all those injured could have some too."
Chai Feng’s mouth twitched as he said, "Just a few days ago, our army’s food supply went moldy. Soldiers who couldn’t eat it ran up to the mountains to forage. Cai Wei responded with a cheerful smile, "These soldiers left their homes and occupations to fight in the war, suffered injuries for the recovery of our Great Jin territory. For example, while traditional pillow cases would often be embroidered with peonies and symbols of wealth and prosperity, Cai Wei’s designs were abstract, utilizing sunflowers as the main theme. This resulted in a bold, exaggerated, and unique home decor collection.
Besides that, she also designed some more modern pieces of jewelry. Although she referred to it as designing, it was more like appropriating designs from famous jewelry designers she remembered from her past life. From bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings to hairpins, and jade bracelets, every piece was not present in this world and each of them was one-of-a-kind!
As evening approached, she took out all the crystal elbows, roast chicken, and geese she’d bought from her ’space’ the day before, piling them up on the ground. Even so, it still wasn’t enough for two or three hundred people, so she commanded the white tiger to catch some wild rabbits and chickens from the forest and some fish from Lingxi River. Additionally, many of the vegetables in the ’space’ were ready to be harvested. She picked some spinach, leaf mustard, rapeseed, and crown daisies herself to serve as a side dish for the soldiers to ease the greasiness of the meat.
