Transmigration Into A Novel: Save The Second Male Lead Chapter 13

’Host, your husband has arrived, perhaps you can try to convince him to let you see his grandmother,’ the system informed her.

"No, thank you. I do not want to be embarrassed," Yue Ning decisively rejected the system’s suggestion.

The system was about to puke blood from fury.

’I’m offering you a way out, and you’re rejecting it. Again,’ the system said, exasperated.

"You are out to kill me, why should I willingly jump into fire? I would find other ways to meet with her," Yue Ning was not bothered by the hurt in its voice.

Although she had only spent a day with the system, she knew that the system probably hated her.

’How do you want to save the second male lead if you aren’t even trying to be close with him?’ The system asked with an exasperated sigh.

Yue Ning was silent for a while. She had to admit that the system was right. This was her biggest mission.

"Don’t worry, I’ll find a way, now, remain quiet. I am trying to think," Yue Ning instructed.

’I’ll have my resume ready for transfer to a less difficult host.’ the system muttered, but Yue Ning didn’t bother to give her a reply.

’You know, there’s a way you could mute me,’ the system informed her.

Yue Ning’s eyes brightened instantly.

"Why didn’t you tell me about that since? How do I do it?" She asked excitedly. She believed it would be better if the system was quiet at times.

It finally realized that it had shot itself in the foot.

Yue Ning cackled loudly after the system had given her the instructions. It felt good that she was able to win against the system.

After a few minutes, Yue Ning stretched, and before long, she slept off.

Huo Feng, on the other hand, had trouble sleeping.

Yue Chen had been sending him text messages, and he didn’t give her a reply.

Perhaps, what others said was the truth.

Was Yue Ning really as Yue Chen had said? Different thoughts ran through his mind.

He decided to push them away, and focus on his work.

The next morning, Yue Ning woke up while stretching.

She looked around, feeling slightly fuzzy.

It was only after yesterday’s memories came rushing into her mind did she finally recall what had happened yesterday.

"So it wasn’t a dream," she muttered to herself, and instantly removed the system from its mute status.

’Good morning, host.’ The system greeted.

"Good morning, how did you enjoy your mute status yesterday?" Yue Ning asked as she exited the bed. She was in a good mood, and she decided that it would be best to taunt the system.

The system didn’t reply. It was at this moment she wished that systems all over the world could have control over the mute status.

At least, it would prevent problematic hosts from misusing it.

"Why are you quiet?" Yue Ning asked with a sly smirk.

’There is no reason for me to give you a reply,’ the system replied with a clipped tone.

Yue Ning raised her brows, but she laughed it off.

"Huo Yan will visit me today with the books. Are you aware that I have never read that sort of genre before?" Yue Ning questioned.

’No, will you be able to cope with the genre?’ The system inquired with a soft voice which surprised Yue Ning.

"You don’t have to worry about me, I will be able to challenge myself with it," Yue Ning replied with a determined expression.

’I guess this is the reason our developers chose you as the new host,’ the system commented.

’"What do you mean by that?" Yue Ning asked, feeling curious.

The system was about to reply when there was a knock on the door.

Yue Ning frowned, but still walked to the door, and opened it.

She was about to lash out at the person, but her words got stuck in her mouth when she saw who it was.

"H-huo Feng?" She stammered, her hands tightening around the door handle.

Her heart skipped a beat. Of all the people, she hadn’t expected to see him this early.

Standing there in all his composed glory, Huo Feng met her startled gaze with unreadable eyes.

"Can I come in?" He asked politely after a short while.

Yue Ning was taken aback, but nodded immediately.

"You do not need to ask, this is your house," Yue Ning chuckled awkwardly.

Huo Feng walked in, and looked around the room. Follow current novels on NovᴇlFirᴇ.ɴet

"Are you free today?" Huo Feng asked.

Yue Ning was silent for a while, before nodding. She really didn’t have anything to do, except waiting for the books Huo Yan wants to deliver to her.

"Do you have something to wear?" Huo Feng asked again.

Yue Ning immediately shook her head.

"Don’t you speak?" Huo Feng questioned. He was beginning to get irritated by the lack of vocal response.

"I speak, I thought you would be annoyed by my voice," Yue Ning replied with her head lowered.

Even as she said it, a wave of shame curled in her chest. Why did she care about what he thought about her? Perhaps, because he was her favourite character in the book.

Huo Feng parted his lips open. He didn’t know how to respond to her words.

He took a deep breath, before saying, "get dressed, and meet me in the living room."

He didn’t wait for Yue Ning to reply before he walked out of the room.

"Weird, system, do you know why he asked me to get dressed?" Yue Ning asked while cupping her cheeks.

’I am sorry, host, but I am clueless,’ the system replied, and Yue Ning sighed.

She hated doing things she didn’t have any idea of, but regardless, she still decided to get dressed.

Meanwhile, Huo Feng tapped idly on his phone as he waited in the living room.

This wasn’t part of the plan. But if she truly wasn’t like Yue Chen claimed, perhaps the old woman would see it first.

After a few minutes, Yue Ning walked to the living room, and there she met Huo Feng seated on the sofa.

She swallowed as she watched him type on his phone. She never would have imagined that she would be able to see him in flesh and blood. She was still in disbelief.

’Seriously, the author didn’t do justice in describing how he looks, damn, he’s hot,’ she giggled to herself.

"If you are done checking me out, can we go?" He asked, and his words snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Let’s go, but may I ask something?" She pleaded.

Huo Feng rose to his feet, and nodded.

"Can I know where we are headed?" She asked.

"It is perfectly fine if you do not want to tell me," she hastily said when she noticed the expression on his face.

"You’ll find out soon," he said with a neutral tone. "Just be on your best behaviour." He completed, and walked out.

Yue Ning stomped her feet. She hated being in the dark, but nevertheless, she still walked after him.
