The production of "Midnight in Paris" continued, and at times, Lucas brought his unique interpretation to his character and the narrative of the film. His insights were shaped by his "Mind Workshop," allowing him to offer thoughtful opinions to the creative director, Woody Allen. Unlike his experience with "Like Crazy," where he had significant creative control, Lucas's input was more constrained. Nevertheless, his contributions were valued, leading to moments where he improvised as Gil, delivering lines not found in the original script.
The shoot lasted several weeks, during which Woody Allen saw Lucas's musical potential and requested him to write a song for the movie. Woody had recognized Lucas's musical talent from his previous works, notably his songs "Perfect" in "Modern Family" and "The Scientist" at the end of "127 Hours." Intrigued, he was eager to incorporate Lucas's musical creativity into "Midnight in Paris." Consequently, Lucas was given the opportunity to perform his composition in a specific scene of the film.
The film's production neared its climax in a scene filled with raw emotion and haunting beauty, set against the backdrop of Paris at night. In this pivotal moment, Lucas, embodying the character of Gil, stands beside Marion, who plays Adriana, amidst a stunning Parisian vista that exudes romance.
As the scene unfolds, the air is filled with an almost tangible tension. Gil, caught in a whirlwind of emotions, acts on impulse and kisses Adriana. The camera zooms in, capturing the exact moment their lips meet, a perfect blend of passion and vulnerability.

Gil exhales, a weary sigh escaping his lips, "Because life is too mysterious for me."
The dialogue deepens as Adriana shares her own reflections, a hint of melancholy in her voice, "It's the time we live in. Everything moves so fast - life is noisy and complicated - not like the Belle Epoque. In those years Paris lived only for beauty."
Gil, introspective and candid, reveals his inner conflict, "I've always been a logical person. I never took chances - did anything crazy - like move here when I first came or take a shot at being a real writer, not a Hollywood hired hand - but I feel like letting everything go." It is then, in a moment brimming with surprise and symbolic of his newfound courage, that Gil presents Adriana with a pair of earrings.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with palpable anticipation as the scene shifted to Lucas, stepping into Gil's shoes, poised to deliver the song he and Woody had meticulously selected for the film. Adriana, brought to life by Marion, watched him with eyes full of admiration, her new earrings adding a silent depth to their unspoken bond.

Then, Lucas, as Gil, gently took Marion's hand, portraying Adriana, and assured, "Cause anywhere with you feels right. Anywhere with you feels like. Paris in the rain. Paris in the rain."
As Lucas's voice filled the air, the moment and the setting seemed to blend seamlessly with the melody. The crew had set the stage for rain, and as the first drops began to fall, Gil and Adriane strolled through the enchanting streets of Paris at night, utterly lost in each other. Lucas sang with a depth of emotion and authenticity that captivated everyone on set. The cast and crew, especially Marion, who was completely immersed in her character, were visibly touched by the performance.
Though they all knew Lucas was going to introduce a song into the scene as Woody had discussed with key members of the team, they hadn't anticipated how well the rhythm and lyrics would resonate with the scene's ambiance.

Their faces lit up with smiles and expressions of genuine appreciation as they looked towards Lucas, who was still standing in the rain-soaked street, breathing heavily from the emotional exertion of his performance.
