"Hey, Luofeng, don’t tell me you said something to the boss lady?"
While sipping the pearls in her drink, Lin Ruoxi also bit her straw. Luofeng watched. Why do girls like to bite their straws? As for him, being a guy, he just liked eating the pearls...
Luofeng replied, "I don’t understand. I didn’t say anything to the boss lady; we just chatted briefly."
"I got a raise," Lin Ruoxi added.
When Luofeng heard this, he understood. "Little Lin, you must be misunderstanding something. Your raise has nothing to do with me!"
"You really didn’t say anything?" Lin Ruoxi questioned, looking him directly in the eyes.
"I really didn’t. Like I said, we just chatted briefly. Then she asked for my contact information, and I gave it to her," Luofeng replied, then added, as if suddenly remembering, "Oh, right. She did ask how I felt working out with Miss Lin, and I said it was pretty good."
Realizing Luofeng hadn’t proactively spoken up to get her a raise, Lin Ruoxi felt much more relieved. After all, if a man showed too much favor too soon, it could scare a girl off and make her distance herself.
"Still, I have to thank you!" Lin Ruoxi said.
"Haven’t you already thanked me? The milk tea is delicious!" Luofeng replied.
"That’s it? You’re satisfied with just this?"
"Huh? What else could there be? Or what, are you going to invite me to a room with a water bed?" Luofeng teased.
Hearing this, Lin Ruoxi’s cheeks turned slightly red. She muttered, "You bad man," and then fell silent.
Of course, girls liked a man to be a bit ’bad.’ But a man couldn’t show he was *too* good to her. If a girl hadn’t decided to be with him yet, and he was overly nice, she wouldn’t want to feel indebted for such favors.
Just then, three rather ostentatiously foreign-styled individuals approached outside the gym, speaking quite loudly. Luofeng and Lin Ruoxi both turned their heads to look.
It was the unconventionally dressed Xu Shaoyuan and his friends.
One had to admit, their taste was truly questionable. No wonder they’d been single since birth. Wearing such outdated, non-mainstream fashion from over a decade ago—did they really think that was presentable now?
"Are your friends here?" Lin Ruoxi asked quietly, her curiosity piqued.
"Yeah, this bunch of guys. So embarrassing, wearing all that stuff!" Luofeng said unhappily through clenched teeth.
Soon enough, Xu Shaoyuan spotted Luofeng sitting in the rest area with a beauty, drinking milk tea.
"Luofeng! Damn, you actually got here first?" Xu Shaoyuan exclaimed, then his eyes widened. "And... isn’t that Lin Ruoxi?"
My goodness! What was going on here? They had only been a little late because they had a few things to take care of. And Luofeng was already here, drinking milk tea with the gym’s most beautiful Miss Global? Chatting and laughing, no less?
The first of the group to approach was Xu Shaoyuan. The tall one with glasses was Zheng Zeyao, and the last, a very skinny guy at 185 cm, was Li Jie.
They all stared with envious eyes, completely surprised. They were good friends from the same circle and knew each other’s capabilities well—or lack thereof when it came to girls. If any of them had a bit more game, they wouldn’t still be single. Seeing Luofeng now felt like a dream.
