Chapter 472a - Locked
Frustration wasn’t something he allowed himself to experience, yet there it was.
Damn you, Max. Your emotions have rubbed off on me.
The room they had trapped him in was a single piece of something he couldn’t figure out.
Each time he touched it the pain was excruciating, and yet it meant nothing.
He knew they couldn’t kill him. Doing so would mean what had to happen wouldn’t.
Still, the thought that they might keep him locked away in this cell until that moment arrived made the room feel smaller.
Even before he found himself paired with Max, he didn’t remember feeling this much angst.
Sitting there, letting himself sense whatever he could, there was a thread.
His connection with Max couldn’t be cut off. Only death would result in that.
Something was happening, and he wasn’t sure what since time seemed to have no meaning here. There would be moments of a surge and then nothing.
All he could do was wait.
Occasionally, he could feel that tug stronger, sensing the direction in which he knew his friend had to be.
Friend… how long… have I ever called anyone a friend before?
Memories were locked behind another wall, trapped even further away than where he was right now.
Sitting there, waiting, he felt it.
Like molten lava, the cord that connected them roared to life.
Max was worked up in ways that only he could ever seem to be.
Laughing, he didn’t care that no sound came.
The thought of what it meant for his friend to be that angry was a sign.
Someone is going to die.
