"Alright everyone, settle down". Adi Hutter said once the locker room was filled up. He glanced around the room and once he was sure that all the players were paying attention to him, he started explaining.
There were a couple of whiteboards placed behind Adi. There were various magnetic chips on the two whiteboards, in the shape of various formations. There were also some marker lines in the small distance between the magnetic chips.
"So, as usual we’ll be lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. In buildup, we’re going to transition into a 2-3-5 formation, with the two center backs remaining deep, while we’ll have a fullback invert into the middle while the other one moves higherup the pitch. The attacking midfielder plays with the striker and the two wingers are occupying the half-spaces while-"
Tyler listened to Adi Hutter talk about tactics for one hour straight. It was the usual stuff at first, but after the first thirty minutes, the difference between a grassroots academy coach and a team competing in the top flight of French football was very clear. Tyler heard so many plays and combinations that he hadn’t ever heard before. It became clear to him that if he wanted to play, he needed to step up his game.
After the Tactical session, Adi dismissed everyone. Tyler was in the middle of changing out of his training wear when George came up to him.
"Hey man". George said while plopping beside him on the bench, "That was intense. Somehow we had two training session before the tactical session and somehow it’s still what made me most exhausted".
"Really?" Tyler said as he zipped his duffel bag and stood up, "I think it was rather interesting".
George looked at Tyler weirdly. "You did? Everyone finds the tactical talk boring. Maybe it’s because you just joined, you’re probably amazed by the in depth analysis and the other stuff you haven’t heard of before. Trust me, by the time you do this every week, you’ll hate it more than I do".
Tyler chuckled at George’s response. "Maybe".
The pair continued to talk until they separated at the entrance of the Monaco Performance Center. Tyler watched with a tinge of envy as George got into his car and drove home.
"I should get a car". He muttered under his breath. Not that it would do him any good. He didn’t know how to drive and he didn’t have a license.
It was early in the afternoon, so Tyler still had a lot of time on his hands. He went back to his apartment and dropped his things, then took a long shower. By the time he was out of the toilet, he realized how hungry he was and thought about going out to eat since there wasn’t really any actual food available.
Tyler paused for a moment to think about the financial implication before deciding that he could afford it. A week hadn’t passed since he signed for Monaco, but the fat signing on fee in his contract made sure he wasn’t broke.
He put on some nice clothes, practically bathed himself with cologne, and after twenty minutes, he was out the door. For more chapters visit novèlfire.net
Tyler locked his apartment door and started walking down the corridor, his footsteps echoing faintly off the walls. The building was quiet, which surprised Tyler. Considering it was a building where footballers resided, most of which were youngsters, he thought that it would be rowdy.
’Maybe they aren’t back from training yet’. Tyler thought. After all, Enzo and Tony were nowhere to be found.
They probably trained later in the afternoon after they were done with school for the day.
School. Tyler winced slightly when he thought about it. He never really liked school. He was supposed to take his A levels later this year but he had no idea what was going to happen now that he was in Monaco.
While he was having these thoughts, he reached the outside of his apartment and finally stepped outside, taking in a whiff of the fresh outside hair. The sunlight reflected off the walls of the building opposite the one he just exited which made him squint lightly as he stepped onto the street. He reached into his pockets and brought out a pair of sunglasses.
"I knew it wasn’t a mistake to buy this". Tyler smiled as he put them on.
Now, Tyler didn’t have a specific place in mind when he stepped out. He had only been around for a day so he didn’t even know anywhere. He wanted to explore a bit and hoped he would find a place to eat while he was at it.
After thirty minutes of walking, he quickly regretted his decision and used the GPS app on his phone to find a good restaurant.
Ten minutes later, he was at the entrance of the restaurant, looking to enjoy a good meal.
