Unrivaled Soldier in the City Chapter 20

What the hell? I’m seeing a ghost! He was right in front of me a moment ago. How did he get behind me?! the man thought, stunned.

But before he could process the thought, he received a heavy blow to the back of his neck and fell stiffly to the ground.

The sound of his fall didn’t alert anyone. After all, the music in the bar was deafening, and the spot where he and Liu Shilin were sitting was quite dark. Unless someone was paying close attention, no one would notice. To avoid being seen, Lin Kuang had even waited to strike until the man’s companions were looking away.

After knocking the man out, Lin Kuang simply tossed him beside the sofa, where he was sure to remain unseen unless someone came right over to look.

"Shilin, don’t be scared. Just sit here for a bit, I’ll be right back," Lin Kuang said with a smile before leaving.

Seeing Lin Kuang’s relaxed smile, Liu Shilin felt much more at ease.

What kind of person did Dad find for me? This guy is incredible! Liu Shilin murmured to herself as she watched his departing figure.

By then, Lin Kuang had already stepped onto the dance floor, his eyes fixed on the three men who were about to make a move on Liu Shiyu.

Just a few weaklings trying to kidnap someone? What a joke, Lin Kuang muttered to himself as he approached one of them.

The man was hopping around on the dance floor, getting closer to Liu Shiyu, completely oblivious that Lin Kuang was closing in. Just as he was about to get behind Liu Shiyu, Lin Kuang arrived at his side.

With a lightning-fast kick, Lin Kuang struck the man hard on his inner thigh.

Though Lin Kuang hadn’t used his full strength, the kick was more than enough for the guy to handle. He howled in pain and collapsed onto the dance floor, unable to get back up.

The man’s pained yells caused the dancers to pause for a moment. They glanced at him on the ground but then immediately went back to their wild dancing, unconcerned. As for the unlucky fellow, he was carried away by security.

Shortly after, Lin Kuang took down the remaining two accomplices. Once that was done, he returned to his seat.

"All taken care of. Don’t worry," Lin Kuang said with a reassuring smile, seeing Liu Shilin’s tense expression.

"But what if they call for more people? Lin Kuang, maybe we should just leave," Liu Shilin said worriedly.

"Don’t worry. Look how much fun she’s having. I don’t want to disturb her," Lin Kuang said. He glanced at Liu Shiyu, who was dancing joyously on the dance floor. Under the lights, she looked like a little Witch or a rebellious girl, exuding a tempting charm.

Liu Shilin’s gaze also fell on Liu Shiyu. Seeing her sister having such a blast, she didn’t press the issue.

"Alright, let her play a bit longer. We’ll leave at twelve," Liu Shilin said. It was already eleven-thirty, just half an hour until midnight.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang checked the time and nodded. "Alright, as you wish."

Liu Shilin rolled her eyes. As I wish? I wanted to leave, but you were the one who said no... she thought helplessly.

At eleven-fifty, the little Witch, looking like she had danced her fill, finally returned. Her forehead was glistening with sweat, and her clothes were damp, clinging to her chest and back. The revealing neckline made her already alluring figure look even more tempting.

"I’m exhausted, but that was so thrilling!" the little Witch exclaimed happily, sitting on the sofa and taking a big gulp of her cocktail.

It had been a long time since she’d felt so exhilarated. She had been particularly annoyed with Lin Kuang for the past two days, and having just vented all that frustration, her mood instantly improved. Still, the look she gave him was full of displeasure.

"Satisfied? Then let’s get going," Liu Shilin said, her tone laced with urgency. The bar was too loud, however, and the little Witch didn’t catch it.

"Alright, it’s about time. We can go," the little Witch agreed. She’d had her fun, and staying any longer seemed pointless.

With that, the little Witch stood up from the sofa. As she did, she almost tripped, her foot having landed on the thigh of the man passed out on the floor.

"What the heck? What’s this?" she said in surprise. She looked down carefully and saw that it was a person.

The next moment, she was so frightened she stumbled backward, fell to the floor, and opened her mouth to scream.

This is not good. If someone finds an unconscious person here, it’s going to be trouble, Lin Kuang thought.

With that thought, Lin Kuang swiftly moved to her side and clamped a hand over her mouth.

"MMMPH! MMMPH!" A muffled sound escaped from the little Witch’s mouth.

"What are you screaming for?" Lin Kuang said, annoyed. "He’s not dead, just knocked out."

This girl is usually so bold, but she gets scared and starts screaming at critical moments.

Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, the little Witch froze. She had thought the person on the floor was dead. Realizing he was alive, she let out a sigh of relief.

At this, the little Witch pulled Lin Kuang’s hand away and grumbled, "If he’s alive, why didn’t you say so sooner? You scared me to death!"

Lin Kuang gave her a helpless look. "Did you even give me a chance to tell you?"

"Uh..." Hearing his words, the little Witch was stumped. Well... it seems... maybe... I guess I really didn’t.

Her face turned a little red, but she still said unreasonably, "Well, why didn’t you tell me beforehand? Couldn’t you have said something before I sat down? Sheesh! I can’t be bothered with you."

Having made her unreasonable argument, the little Witch huffed and fell silent.

"Alright, let’s go," Liu Shilin said, looking at the little Witch on the sofa with irritation. "You know, if Lin Kuang hadn’t wanted to let you have some fun, I would have made you leave long ago."

"Him? Cheer me up? No way!" the little Witch huffed, her expression full of disbelief. "It’s a miracle if that jerk doesn’t make me angry. Him, trying to make me happy? I don’t believe it for a second."

"Come on, let’s go. I’ll tell you more when we get home," Liu Shilin said, pulling the little Witch toward the exit.

Lin Kuang couldn’t help but chuckle as he followed them out. This kind of life is pretty interesting, he thought.

Just as they reached the entrance, a group of about twenty people blocked their way.

"You think you can hit my guys and just walk away?" a cool, arrogant voice reached their ears. "Life isn’t that easy."
