He saw a mysterious figure shrouded in a black trench coat, wearing a bronze mask, only revealing a pair of profound eyes devoid of human emotion, standing in the living room without notice, looking him over.
Those eyes, as if possessed by magic power, caused a palpable fear, making one daunted to meet their gaze.
"You... what are you!" Tian Piyan trembled all over, his eyes showing terror. His special predilection had always been a secret, never to be exposed to the light.
"Who I am is not important," Lin Hai replied with a hoarse voice.
"What exactly do you want, be careful or I'll call the police immediately," Tian Piyan threatened, retreating to the doorway in fright.
Tian Piyan only felt a blur in his vision, the man in black had already stood at the doorway from the living room.
This speed, it was too fast.
"Director Tian, if you don't cooperate…" Lin Hai said while casually grabbing the handle of the security door and with a snap, broke it off.
Tian Piyan gulped down a mouthful of saliva, staring intently at the broken doorknob.
The security door was made of solid steel, the handle incredibly sturdy, usually indestructible even with a hammer, yet in the hands of this mysterious figure before him, it snapped off as easily as dry weeds.
What immense strength that must be!
"I'll cooperate, completely cooperate," said Tian Piyan, a sycophant who could become an official entirely by flattery and keen observation.
Noticing Lin Hai's formidable demeanor, he quickly acquiesced with a nod.
"I want to talk to you about a matter concerning a kindergarten student!" Lin Hai stated.
Tian Piyan was momentarily startled, what about a kindergarten? Being a leader in the education bureau, he didn't even care about regular schools, let alone a kindergarten.
"I heard that your relatives, exploiting your name, have done wrong and even expelled a kindergarten student," Lin Hai scoffed coldly.
Tian Piyan, quick-witted, his eyes rapidly moving, remembered there seemed to be such an incident.
"Yes, yes, I was wrong," admitted Tian Piyan, sweating profusely in fear under Lin Hai's overbearing pressure.
But in his heart, he thought to call the police as soon as possible to deal with this damned guy.
"Director Tian, you know what you have to do next, right?" Lin Hai said coldly, seeing through Tian Piyan's thoughts.
Soon, Tian Piyan made a phone call, cursing loudly into the phone, "You bastards, the kindergarten we were about to shut down this morning, cancel it immediately, also reverse the expulsion of that kid, else by tomorrow I'll hold you accountable!"
After the matter was handled, Tian Piyan looked at Lin Hai ingratiatingly, fawningly saying, "Can you let me go now?"
As soon as the words came out, a weak whimpering sound suddenly came from the bedroom.
Tian Piyan's face changed drastically, nervously chuckling, "My wife is at home, please spare me."
How could Lin Hai believe Tian Piyan's crude acting? He kicked open the bedroom door and witnessed an infuriating scene.
Three small children seeing Lin Hai in his black trench coat and the sinister Evil Ghost Mask shrank into a corner, their eyes filled with terror and helplessness.
"Director Tian, it seems I have underestimated you," Lin Hai stared intently at Tian Piyan.
"I, I, I, it's all a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding!" Tian Piyan's scalp numbed under Lin Hai's gaze.
He knew, if these matters broke out, it wouldn't take long for him to be done for.
Trembling and nervous, under the angry gaze of Lin Hai, Tian Piyan begged, "It's a misunderstanding, here I have a hundred thousand yuan, which I took from the school's miscellaneous fees, it's all yours, please, spare me."
Unmoved, Lin Hai only felt more hatred.
"There's something else I have, something very precious, wait for me and I'll get it," said Tian Piyan before hurriedly running to the bedside table and opening the drawer under Lin Hai's watchful eyes.
Then, turning around abruptly, Tian Piyan's hand produced a gun, which he had evidently taken from the drawer.
The dark muzzle aimed at Lin Hai, Tian Piyan swept away his prior subservient demeanor, looking down with disdain and coldly said, "You think you are something, just take off your mask, huh."
Lin Hai snorted coldly, "Director Tian, it seems there's no saving you, hopeless."
Tian Piyan sneered, contemptuously saying, "Kid, are you brain-dead? Believe it or not, I can shoot you dead with one bullet?"
"Murder? Director Tian, you've got guts, not afraid of the law?" Lin Hai ignored the gun, staring fixedly at Tian Piyan.
"Murder? Killing a person like you doesn't count, just pay some money, handle it well and it's settled, heh, you naive citizen, you're just too green, not understanding the ways of survival in this society," Tian Piyan now thought the mysterious person before his eyes was a moron, daring to talk back with a gun in his face, simply tired of living.
"Director Tian, you've fully disappointed me, such a person doesn't deserve to live in this world," Lin Hai shook his head slightly, sighing, signifying his verdict.
"Kneel and beg for mercy immediately, take off your mask, and come to the police station with me to surrender, claim it was a burglary, and you might save your life, otherwise..." Tian Piyan sneered.
Before he finished speaking, his vision suddenly blurred, interiorly alarmed, he hastily pulled the trigger.
With a bang, the gunshot echoed.
Tian Piyan thought, surely dead now, right?
Then, Lin Hai appeared before him, one hand slowly unfolding, inside was a shriveled bullet casing, clinking as it fell to the ground from his palm.
"What!" Tian Piyan exclaimed in shock, disbelief reaching its peak.
"Your toy can't hurt me, now it's my turn."
Lin Hai's indifferent voice, like King Yan's judgment!
He snatched the gun and with a squeeze, snap, Tian Piyan watched in utter shock as the gun was twisted into a lump of scrap metal by bare hands.
"Is this even human?" Tian Piyan was drastically shocked.
Then, like the grim hand of the Death God, it reached for his head.
Stumbling back, Tian Piyan hit against the wall, nowhere to retreat, begging desperately, "Please, I was wrong, spare me!"
Lin Hai's motions were without the slightest hesitation.
Tian Piyan looked up at the oversized hand that covered the light, his eyes brimming with extreme terror.
