Urban Plundering: I Corrupted The System! Chapter 71

He glanced around—nothing too flashy, just sleek and modern. Each seat had its own screen, tray table, and enough buttons to make you feel like you were driving a spaceship. The air smelled faintly of leather and some kind of expensive citrus. A flight attendant stopped by, smiling warmly.

"Mr. Black, can I get you something? Champagne? A snack?"

"Nah, I'm good," he said, giving her a polite nod. Then, almost as an afterthought, he added, "Actually, water's cool."

She disappeared to grab it, and Parker leaned over to peek at Ere. She was all-comfortable enjoying the luxury, he got his water afterwards.

As the engines roared to life, Parker let out a breath, feeling the slight rumble under his feet. He adjusted his seatbelt, stealing one last glance out the window as LA shrank below.

"This will be worth it," he murmured, half to himself. His excitement was there, but so was the usual cold calm he carried around like armor. He didn't get worked up easily, but damn, New York felt like a whole different vibe waiting for him.

Settling back, he closed his eyes as the plane leveled off, letting the hum of the engines take over. Comfortable? Hell yeah. But he wasn't about to get too used to it. This was just the start.

The plane touched down at JFK with a smooth glide that barely jolted Parker awake. He blinked a few times, groggy but alert, and rubbed a hand over his face. "Finally," he muttered, unbuckling his seatbelt.

The flight attendant walked by, her professional smile intact. "Welcome to New York, Mr. Black. Hope you enjoyed the flight."

"Yeah, it was decent," Parker replied, giving her a nod as he reached down to grab Ere. The cat was wide awake now, her sharp eyes darting around at the unfamiliar surroundings.

As he stepped into the VIP terminal, the hum of New York City was already palpable. The buzz of voices, the sharp click of heels on polished floors—it was energy Parker could feel in his chest. He strode through the terminal, his sharp gaze cutting through the chaos. Ere let out a low purr like she was unimpressed with the whole ordeal.

The VIP section made things ridiculously easy. Parker barely had to stop before he was stepping outside into the crisp New York air, where a sleek black car awaited. The driver, suited up and holding a discreet sign with P. Black, nodded respectfully as Parker approached.

"Mr. Black," the driver said, opening the door.

Parker tipped him without hesitation. Money moved things faster, and he liked efficiency.

Settling into the backseat, he leaned into the plush leather, resting Ere beside him. The skyline loomed in the distance, skyscrapers stabbing at the dull gray clouds like they had something to prove.

Parker pulled out his phone. No way was he just winging it when it came to accommodations. A few taps later, he zeroed in one of the most expensive and iconic hotels in Manhattan.

It wasn't a long drive from the Sophisticated Space offices—less hassle for later.

The booking took seconds. When you could casually drop tens of thousands on a suite, things tended to happen fast. A call from the hotel's concierge confirmed the details, with promises that everything would be ready before he arrived.

The car pulled up to the St. Regis like it owned the place, and for a second, Parker felt the familiar thrill of living big. He stepped out, Ere in one hand and his carry-on in the other, ignoring the curious glances of staff and guests alike.

A man walking into a five-star hotel with a black cat wasn't exactly a daily sight.

"Welcome, Mr. Black," the receptionist said warmly as Parker approached the front desk.

"Suite's booked under Parker Black," he replied coolly.

The staff worked fast—there was no room for errors when dealing with VIPs. Within minutes, Parker was escorted to his suite, a sprawling space that could have comfortably housed a family of five. He dropped his bag onto a luxurious armchair and tried to set Ere down, but the cat refused to budge, her claws clinging lightly to his jacket.

"You're spoiled, you know that?" he muttered. Ere blinked at him, her expression smug.

Walking to the floor-to-ceiling windows, Parker gazed out at Manhattan's endless expanse.

The view was insane. Yellow cabs zipped down the streets like ants in a line, and the city pulsed with life. He stood there for a moment, letting it all sink in.

After a while, Parker set Ere on the couch, this time successfully. Changing into something more fitting for the day ahead. He chose a crisp white shirt, layered with a forest-green sweater, and finished it off with beige tailored pants that looked effortlessly elegant.

White sneakers completed the look, giving him that millionaire-casual vibe—sharp but approachable.

Glancing at the mirror, Parker adjusted the cuffs of his shirt peeking out beneath the sweater, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. Ere watched him from her spot on the couch, her eyes narrowed as if questioning his fashion choice.

"What? Too formal for you?" he teased, grabbing his phone and keys. Ere flicked her tail, unimpressed.

"Don't wait up," Parker said with a dry chuckle as he walked out, earning a soft snort from his feline companion.

The drive to was as sleek as his outfit. Manhattan's chaos zipped past the car windows in flashes of neon, steel, and concrete. Parker sat relaxed, one arm resting on the door, his fingers tapping lightly on his knee. His mind was already calculating—what to say, what to do.

When the car pulled up to the building, he glanced at the imposing structure, letting out a calm breath.

"Alright," he murmured, stepping out. "Let's handle this." It was time to meet the legal team that was going to smoothen things even more for him.
