Villainous Me: Help! The heroines are yanderes! Chapter 73

A desolate cityscape stretched before them, a canvas of twisted metal and shattered glass gnawed at by the relentless wind. In its heart, amidst the skeletal remains of skyscrapers, a young girl with purple eyes stalked her prey. Her movements were a predator’s ballet, each step purposeful, fueled by a cold determination that sent shivers down the spine of her victims. Every fallen student left a spectral residue, points siphoned away to replenish the purple-eyed girl’s own dwindled supply.

"Who is she?" whispered the girl beside her, her voice barely a tremor in the ruined city’s silence. Her hair, the color of freshly fallen snow, framed features etched with a mixture of annoyance and morbid curiosity.

"I wasn’t certain before," the purple-eyed girl replied, her voice a steely whisper that cut through the desolate air. "Now, though, there’s no doubt. It’s Leon’s twin." Her hand blurred, a crimson streak as it ripped points from the life force of a student cowering in the wreckage of a building. It had been a place of refuge, at least in theory, but the stench of decay and the sight of scavenged remains told a different story. This twisted game of survival had turned the once managable city into a graveyard, and every corner held the potential for a horrifying discovery.

"Leon’s...?" The blue-eyed girl started, her voice catching in her throat.

"The princess," the other girl confirmed, her expression devoid of emotion. The revelation sent a jolt through the blue-eyed girl, Lyra. "Damn. I guess the rumors were true then," she muttered, a her face face held up in the oppressive heat radiating from the ruined cityscape.

"About her presence at the academy?"

"Yeah, right. But given how the king supposedly treated her, I never thought she’d actually be here."

"Doesn’t matter now," a hiss escaped scarlet’s lips, her name revealed as she spoke. With a flick of her wrist, a spear of water erupted from a nearby puddle, shattering through the window of a ruined house. It found its mark with deadly precision, the head of an unfortunate student hidden in the corner disappearing in a spray of crimson. The metallic tang of blood mingled with the dust-choked air, a grim reminder of the high stakes of this twisted competition.

The clock on the academy trials ticked down, each passing moment amplifying the tension that crackled in the air. Death meant a near-impossible comeback, and with dwindling numbers, paranoia had become a pervasive force. Every rustle in the wind, every creak of twisted metal sounded like approaching footsteps. Everyone was a potential enemy, every shadow a harbinger of doom.

Scarlet, her eyes burning with a hatred that defied explanation, clutched at Lyra’s shoulder. "The worst part is, she took him right after I finally got through to him!" The memory of Ryan, his hesitant trust finally earned, fueled the inferno of rage burning within her.

"Easy there," Lyra soothed, a strained smile playing on her lips. The exams end in less than ten hours. What matters now is that he’s on our side." But the forced optimism did little to quell the gnawing unease in her gut.

Scarlet scoffed. "You know exactly what worries me." Her voice was laced with a venomous edge.

Lyra’s smile faltered. "Her damned ability, isn’t it?"

Scarlet remained silent, her gaze fixed on the bruised and bleeding sky, a reflection of the carnage unfolding below.

"I just hope he’s alright,"

A tremor of unease snaked through the colossal figure cloaked in an aura of blinding light. A presence, a surge of power, resonated within his mind, a tendril of awareness from reality beyond.

"What is this...magnitude?" a disembodied voice boomed within his consciousness, a tremor of alarm rippling through the ethereal plane. The voice, a being of immense power spoke, and this unexpected development threatened to throw everything into disarray.

"It’s her," the figure replied, his voice a low rumble that echoed through the emptiness. "She found us."

"Wait, you don’t-" the voice began, its booming pronouncements laced with a sliver of panic.

"She did," the figure confirmed, now known as Owen, his voice resonating with a quiet authority. "How?!" the voice demanded, its essence crackling with frustration that threatened to disrupt the flow of celestial bodies in its orbit. "It seems... she placed something within him that activated recently," Owen offered with a sigh that seemed to shake the very foundations of reality.

This revelation hung heavy in the air, a chilling realization settling upon the voice. "This... obsession," the voice sputtered, a hint of disbelief coloring its tone. It had witnessed countless emotions throughout the vast expanse of existence, but this much? was unlike anything it had ever encountered. "It surpasses all boundaries. This intensity, she only felt it for..." The voice trailed off, a heavy silence settling in the wake of its unspoken words. The implication hung heavy, a chilling reminder of the power this young woman wielded and the lengths she was willing to go to achieve her twisted goals.

"Master," Owen finished the sentence, a flicker of sadness flitting across his luminous form, a stark contrast to the blinding light that emanated from him. It was a sadness tinged with a deep understanding, a recognition of a love that had transcended the boundaries of life and death.

"Stay focused, Owen. Your mission remains paramount," the voice urged, a note of reason battling the rising tide of concern. It understood the gravity of the situation, the delicate balance that Owen’s mission precariously maintained.

A resolute glint hardened Owen’s features. "Indeed. It seems it’s time for a confrontation. Change of plans, Erinstein. Initiate the final phase of transformation."

"Are you certain, Owen?" the voice questioned, a sliver of doubt creeping into its pronouncements.

"Absolutely," Owen boomed, his voice filled with an unwavering determination that echoed through the cosmos. "After all..." He paused, his form crackling with energy as the transformation began. "...The end, as we know it, is near." The last words resonated with a power that shook the very fabric of existence, a harbinger of the cataclysmic events that were about to unfold.
