Warhammer Divine Throne Chapter 40

After Laine arrived in this world, he discovered that it also had a magical triad: Elves, Dwarves, and Humans.

However, the relationships among these three were not quite like those in novels Laine had read, such as The Ring of Power.

The Elves, darlings of the heavens and earth, were born with a strong affinity for Magic, and any Elf could easily master the role of a Wizard alongside other professions. They were handsome and powerful. Thousands of years ago, Elves created a brilliant cosmic civilization, with their cities moving through the cosmic void, and their splendid civilization shining among the stars.

But as their civilization reached its peak, they grew complacent and indulged in pleasure, even bringing themselves to the brink of destruction. When the Elves became intoxicated by the submission of all things in the void, disaster struck. Some Elves set their sights on the power of the Deities, waging war against the gods in the void, followed by internal strife. A terrifying civil war swept through all of Elven civilization.

Simultaneously, according to certain dark historical records, one of the Chaos Four Gods was conceived and emerged during that civil conflict.

Hundreds of years later, the once-brilliant civilization of the Elves turned to ruins and illusions. Under the tremendous internal chaos and suppression by the Deities, the Elves lost 99% of their population. Their Magic Level and scientific technology regressed to thousands of years earlier. The remaining aged, weak, ill, and disabled had no choice but to settle on the Continent. It was at this time that the last batch of Elves encountered Humans and taught them Magic.

The Dwarves, emerging from the mountains, claimed to be the children of the earth. Though they did not understand Magic, they were technologically advanced. They were naturally irritable, extremely vengeful, and had no sense of compassion. As the indigenous people of this world, after a conflict with the Elves, the two races became embroiled in war. The Elves, already extremely weakened, were further devastated. However, the foundation of their former glorious civilization remained. After millennia of war, the Dwarves were beaten back and forced deeper into the mountains. When it seemed like they were about to be annihilated by the Elves, the then Dwarf Supreme King Kazadni Ironbeard had no choice but to send an envoy to a nearby Human tribe for aid.

The Dwarves were fortunate, while the Elves were unlucky, because that Human tribe was named Gallorin, and their Chief was named Charlemagne.

Historically, relations between Dwarves and Humans were not good, but Charlemagne decided to support the Dwarves against opposition. He personally led the Human warriors, traversing mountains and ridges, and suddenly appeared behind the Elf Army and attacked.

Could Humans fight as well as the Elf Army? It was impossible; the Elf Army, with its glorious cultural foundation, was superior in both tactics and formation.

Did the Humans have better equipment than the Elf Army? Also impossible; at that time, Humans only had rudimentary manufacturing skills, creating simple weapons.

But the blood and bravery displayed by the Human army deeply shocked the Elves. The Elves, accustomed to leisurely battles and methodical positional warfare, were thrown into disarray when an army suddenly appeared from behind them. The Elf Army, already low in morale due to prolonged unsuccessful attacks, fell into chaos. The frontline commander was quickly slain by Charlemagne, who reached him and took his head. Seeing this, the Dwarves struck from both sides, causing complete destruction to the Elf Army.

After this battle, Humans and Dwarves forged the most sacred covenant. Charlemagne and Kazadni agreed that when the Dwarves needed help, Humans would unconditionally extend a helping hand, and when Humans faced difficulties, the Dwarves would also give their all.

This agreement was called the "Holy Alliance" and remains in effect to this day.

With the combination of Dwarven high technology and Human powerful learning abilities, Charlemagne led his army to sweep across the land.

Two hundred years later, the last organized Elf Army on the Continent was defeated by the Human and Dwarf Alliance Army. The Elven Eternal King also perished in that battle, forcing the Elves to negotiate peace with the Humans. Most of the Elves chose to withdraw from the Continent and go to islands where they could recuperate, calling themselves High Elves.

Later, the High Elves split into Dark Elves.

Only a small portion of the Elves chose to remain in the forests on the Continent in seclusion, calling themselves Wood Elves.

The Saint Lorenzo Forest is the primary settlement of the Wood Elves.

The Wood Elves, living in isolation, cared only for their forests, leaving them only in rare cases. However, Estelle was different, as he was a Half-Elf.

The Half-Elf race was a beautiful accident.

It was well-known that there was no reproductive isolation between Humans and Elves. Most Elves lived in forests or on islands, though occasionally some traveled the Continent or settled in Human dwellings. Elves were fascinated by the vigor of Humans, while Humans were drawn to the elegance of Elves, leading to occasional intermarriage. From the perspective of Elves, such marriages were often short-lived due to the brief lifespan of Humans. However, they left offspring, known as Half-Elf children. Half-Elves found it difficult to live within Elven society because they matured too quickly, leading to feelings of alienation. Conversely, living within Human society, Half-Elves matured relatively slowly. Most Half-Elves lived in Human societies due to their greater inclusivity and easier sense of belonging. A few Half-Elves chose to find a place where only Half-Elves lived together. Laine had heard of a city designated for Half-Elves in the Free City State in the southern part of the Continent, known as Twilight City.
