"What? You’re pregnant?!" Sandra Woods exclaimed in surprise, her eyes widening.
"Yes." Bella Acker lowered her head, her small face the size of a palm pale with sadness. "There is no fetal heartbeat; I have to undergo surgery to remove it. But I... I don’t have enough money at the moment."
Sandra Woods finally came to her senses, "Does your boyfriend know about this?"
Bella shook her head.
"How could you be so silly!" Sandra was a little angry, "How can you bear these things alone? Make him responsible! Damn! Just sleeping without taking responsibility, that’s not making love, that’s mating! Such a scumbag, if I see him, I must slap him hard!"
"Shannon." Sandra’s intense emotions startled Bella a little.
Sandra glanced at her, seeing her pale face, looking pitiful beyond words, she felt a bit helpless, "What do you plan to do after you remove the child?"
"I will break up with him and from now on, we’ll have nothing to do with each other," Bella said hurriedly, "Shannon, don’t worry. Once I receive my payment for the film, I’ll return the money to you. Here is my ID card, I’ll leave it with you for now."
"What do I need your ID card for?" Sandra rolled her eyes at her, saying, "My family runs a hospital. I’ll take you there tomorrow, but the role you’re playing as Hera is from start to finish, and the filming starts in three days. Removing the child is like a mini confinement; if you enter the film set in three days, without proper recovery, you will definitely have health issues later."
"I’m fine." Bella shook her head, hesitated for a moment then said, "Shannon, when you take me to your family hospital, can we avoid putting down any information and keep it confidential?"
Sandra frowned.
Bella lowered her head, speaking softly, "He... his information channels are quite open, I don’t want him to find out."
"Bella, I wanted to ask you earlier, but seeing you upset, I didn’t ask more," Sandra said, "Over at Bolan Avenue, there’s only a villa area, no apartment buildings. And being able to live in that villa area means being someone important; not everyone can squeeze in, no matter how wealthy. Your boyfriend... is he someone significant?"
"Yes." Bella nodded.
"Alright, never mind. Go and take a hot shower, then get an early night’s sleep. Tomorrow morning, I’ll take you there for the surgery directly."
"Thank you, Shannon." Bella was filled with gratitude, unsure of what she would have done tonight without Sandra.
She had been with Damian Sinclair when she had nothing at all. Over five years, she gradually felt she had gained a lot, but after leaving Damian Sinclair, she suddenly realized she still had nothing.
Early the next morning, Sandra drove Bella to their family hospital, which although wasn’t a big hospital, had all the necessary facilities.
Sandra had made prior arrangements, and when Bella arrived, she only underwent a simple examination before being sent into the operating room.
The process of removing the child was easier than Bella had imagined. Once anesthetized, she was unaware of anything.
Waking on the hospital bed, Sandra was beside her, and Bella’s body felt no discomfort at all. That child seemed to be just like... like her feelings for Damian Sinclair, as if it had never existed.
Tears welled up in Bella’s eyes.
Sandra immediately said, "The doctor said that crying is not good for your eyes right now."
"Okay, I won’t cry." Bella wiped her eyes, summoning her spirits, "Shannon, can we go back now?"
