Gao Jiaxing laughed aloud, "Why has Xiaoxiao become so timid?"
Xia Xiao pouted, leaning into Gao Jiaxing’s embrace, declaring, "I’m really tired, I need a good sleep, and you better behave."
"Alright, alright, I’ll stay with Xiaoxiao to sleep," Gao Jiaxing said with a sympathetic look at Xia Xiao, "You must be exhausted."
"Whose fault is that?" Xia Xiao glared at Gao Jiaxing.
Xia Xiao then directly curled up in the corner of the bed, wrapping herself in the quilt, warily watching Gao Jiaxing.

Xia Xiao nodded, "Well-rested, time to get up. I need to cook; mom and dad and big brother and sister-in-law will be back soon and ready to eat."
"I’m hungry too," said Gao Jiaxing.
Xia Xiao got up swiftly, "Alright, I’ll go cook."
"Let me eat first, then go," Gao Jiaxing said, quickly getting undressed.
Xia Xiao understood his kind of ’hungry’ from his actions, but by then Gao Jiaxing had already pinned her down.
"Here you go again," Xia Xiao glared.
Gao Jiaxing said, "It’s okay if you cook less of my portion later."
Xia Xiao slapped him playfully, "Better you don’t eat, then you won’t have the energy."
Gao Jiaxing raised an eyebrow, "Shall we test that?"
Xia Xiao didn’t respond, but told Gao Jiaxing, "Mom and dad will be back soon, you better keep it under control."
Gao Jiaxing said, "Don’t worry, they won’t be back so soon; it’s only four o’clock. There’s still time."
Thereupon Gao Jiaxing devoured Xia Xiao over and over, and by the third round, Xia Xiao couldn’t help kicking him away, "No more messing around, you’re wearing me out, I won’t be able to cook."
Xia Xiao said, "You better sleep; your body isn’t made of iron, you need to rest."
"I won’t rest; I’ll help you in the kitchen."
With that comment from Gao Jiaxing, Xia Xiao stopped objecting and went to the kitchen.
At this time, those who had gone up the mountain to work hadn’t come back yet, so Gao Jiaxing helped Xia Xiao get the fire going and she began washing rice to cook.

Xia Xiao didn’t notice and said to Gao Jiaxing, "If I invite my sister and Sister Xuehua over for dinner, will mom and dad and big brother and sister-in-law mind?"
Gao Jiaxing said, "My mom and dad won’t mind, and my big brother won’t care about these things either, but as for my sister-in-law, why don’t you just invite Wang Aihua and Fang Yuejin too?"
Xia Xiao shook her head, that would be at the expense of the Gao family’s rations, "Never mind, better we go to Sister Aihua’s house tomorrow for cooking, then we can invite Sister Xuehua and my sister there, as well as Yao Wangchun, Xu Mei, big brother, and sister-in-law."
