Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse Chapter 69

Roran’s body fell lifeless to the ground as I held his severed head like a trophy. My body felt weak, as if I would collapse at that very moment, but I didn’t dare, for I knew that monster would kill me in an instant.

The monster I was referring to was Sylvie’s father, who was staring at me with the eyes of a predator.

"You have lost it, boy. That is your uncle you just killed," he said. His eyes were sharp, but behind them, there was a hint of curiosity. "To think the mighty alpha Roran would fall to a child, his own nephew at that. If I didn’t see it for myself, then I wouldn’t believe it."

"I wasn’t the one that killed him," I said as I barely kept from losing my balance.

Danzo raised an eyebrow. "What are you saying, boy?"

I slowly lifted up my hand and pointed at him.

"It was you. You were the one that killed him, and the Lycann pack will hear of this."

Hearing my words, a wide grin grew on Danzo’s face. He understood my intentions perfectly.

"You plan to frame me. To start a war with my pack and yours. You will never win," Danzo scowled.

"We will see..." I said simply.

"You have more balls than your uncle, that’s for sure. But he had more brains for sure." His grin widened. "How do you expect to get out of here alive? You can barely stand. You don’t expect me to let you waltz out of here, do you? And even if I let you go, you will die from your injury anyway."

This time, I didn’t look at Danzo; instead, I looked at Sylvie, who was still crying beside him. I wished I could take her with me, but I couldn’t.

"I’ll come back for you, Sylvie. Wait for me." I said with the last bit of strength I could summon.

"Lee~"

From the scowl on Danzo’s face, I could tell that he knew I was up to something. My time was short; I needed to act now, but immediately as I thought that, I heard what sounded like a small explosion as Danzo launched off the ground. In a second, he was in front of me.

I watched his claws move in a deadly arc toward my heart, and in that moment, I acted instantly. Just as his claws were about to reach my heart, I switched places with the shadow hound I had left in the forest, and immediately, I was transported.

The moment I felt the soft, earthy soil beneath my feet, my legs went weak, and I collapsed to the ground. Roran’s severed head fell beside me. I started to close my eyes, but then I heard the sound of footsteps spreading out throughout the forest.

They must be searching for me.

Hearing the footsteps gradually approaching, I had no choice but to climb back to my feet and continue moving despite my condition. If they had a werewolf with them that had a trait giving them a high sense of smell, then they would easily find me.

With a heavy grunt, as I felt the wound in my stomach start to burn, I began rushing through the forest, trying to get away from them. I had to will my feet to move, and at every bump in the road, I lost my footing and fell, but still, I persisted.

Soon, I was back at the river where Sylvie and I had been before. I figured this would be the only way to throw them off my scent, but I was too late. They had already caught up to me.

"Don’t let him escape!"

Wasting no time, I dove into the river and started swimming with the current. The powerful current carried me downstream, and I had no energy to fight it, so I just let my body float. Soon, though, I heard the sound of water crashing, and I remembered that my mother had told me there was a waterfall located near the Nyx pack territory.

...

The world around me turned into a haze, and I could feel myself slowly drifting away. When I finally awoke hours later, I was in a small, damp space. It looked as if it was a cave. In front of me was a small body of water that looked as if it was leading from the river.

It seems as if I had fell into an underground cave beneath the waterfall.

If I had to guess, I had fallen through some crack near the waterfall and somehow ended up in this cave. Just then, in the small body of water in front of me, I spotted something floating. I soon realized that it was a severed human head. Roran’s head.

I quickly dove into the water to retrieve it, then swam back to where I had been before. After I collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily, my eyes slowly began to close as I thought about everything that had happened.

What was on my mind mostly was Sylvie. Killing Roran was necessary, or else Sylvie would be forced to marry Kaelen. And as things stood, I was no match for Danzo. The only way I would stand a chance was if I had the entire Lycann pack at my back. The only solution I could see was to orchestrate a conflict between the two packs, and for that, Roran had to die.

I felt no guilt over it. Sylvie was more important. He was my uncle, but I felt nothing for him, even though my family and I had lived with him for weeks now. He was a necessary sacrifice, and so would be the others who would die just so I could claim Sylvie as my own.

Their lives meant nothing.

But before I could proceed with everything, I needed to heal. As it stood, my wound wasn’t. That’s what happens when you get injured by an alpha. My healing factor simply wasn’t high enough to stand up against an injury caused by a alpha. It would take a few days for me to fully heal.

"♪Hm~ hm hm... hm-hmm♪"

Just then, I heard something.

It sounded as if someone was humming a melody, and strangely, it seemed to be coming from the body of water in front of me. It sounded like the beautiful singing voice of a woman. The voice was so beautiful that it seemed to draw me in.

Slowly, the surface of the water began to ripple, as if someone or something was swimming beneath it. And soon, I was able to see a strange shimmer of a bioluminescent material just below the surface.

I watched the water surface intently, waiting, and soon, my entire reality came crashing down when I saw the creature that emerged.
