First, to evacuate the elderly who had followed him for many years at the base.
Second, to personally kill Bai Fu, resolving the grudge that had begun at the Abandoned Cooling Factory and fully ignited today.
After giving his orders to Bernardo, the chairman strode toward the ground to intercept Bai Fu.
He hadn't gone far when Bernardo caught up with him and stopped him.
"At this point, killing Bai Fu is nothing more than a cathartic act with no other meaning, it could even lead to greater losses. Chairman, let's retreat together. If we leave now, we might still have a chance to avoid the Genetic Primordials' pursuit. Let's find a new place to rebuild. Even if we can't get our revenge now, it doesn't mean we won't have the chance later. Bernardo's eyes carried a hint of pleading.
The Chairman's words indicated a willingness to embrace death; Bernardo couldn't just watch the Chairman head to his demise.
Besides him, many others at the terminal shared the same thought. They left behind their assistants, Bai Fu, and Black Fu, rushing toward the Chairman's location as fast as they could.
There was no time to delay.
Unlike other members who joined the Truth Society, they had always been part of it, not for money, not for power, not for the potential progress.
Like everyone else, they recognized the Chairman had many flaws: he was temperamental, prone to take risks, but they had deeply experienced another of his virtues: for his own people, he was willing to sacrifice everything, including his life.
The Chairman had treated them sincerely, even now, as the Truth Society's building was about to collapse, they would never abandon him.
One by one, superpower users joined Bernardo, urging the Chairman to retreat with them.
Unfortunately, their persuasion was in vain; the Chairman had made his final decision and would not change it.
"Fine, if you won't leave, Chairman, then we'll go kill Bai Fu together!"
Bernardo led by example, and the others followed.
Determined to keep up, the Chairman couldn't stop them and merely acquiesced; more than a dozen people rapidly headed toward Black Fu who was still entangled with the fierce beast-mutated mutants.
"Beep beep, beep beep..."
In the ascending elevator, the tense Bai Fu suddenly realized her terminal was ringing; she couldn't afford to lower her guard and had to entrust Julia, who she was holding.
Julia took the terminal from her wrist, slightly raising an eyebrow: "It's an unknown caller."
She pressed the answer button.
A strange voice came through.
"Su Li should have contacted you already, right? I am the captain of the Human Alliance's special operations team, Coleman, and with me are registered assassins from the Dark Web, Ferreira and Ye Zhe. We have already arrived near the main base of the Truth Society, prepared to come and support you. Where are you now?"
Reinforcements, and even a familiar face, Ferreira?
After hours of turmoil underground, having expended most of her Prayer Cards, she finally had the support coming, making Bai Fu more confident about successfully escaping.
She explained her situation, asking Coleman and others to wait for her at the main entrance of the Truth Society's main base.
After ending the call, Bai Fu continued on alert. To break into this freight elevator, she had just fought through four barriers. This showed how much the Truth Society wanted to keep her there; she could not afford to relax until she was truly safe.
But to her surprise, until the elevator stopped and its doors opened, she saw no pursuers.
With no pursuers, the idea that the ground forces of the Truth Society's main base could stop her was laughable. A blast from the Illusionary Law Ball, and the members of the Truth Society blocking the way scurried away in fear.
Bai Fu followed the map, heading straight for the main entrance of the Truth Society's main base. Just as she rushed out of the factory, she suddenly stopped.
Julia looked puzzled: "Why aren't you moving?"
Bai Fu's expression turned grim: "I'm afraid it won't be that easy to leave."
Through Black Fu's perspective, she had spotted the Truth Society Chairman; this was their second encounter.
Unlike last time, the Chairman was now clad in a bulky mechanical exoskeleton, his plain face unchanged, but his eyes, once profound, were now filled with murderous intent.
This meant that the forces dispatched by the Truth Society to attack the Genetic Primordials had suffered setbacks, and the Genetic Primordials had achieved significant victories.
For the vast majority of Ancestral Origin Star's population, this should have been good news, but for her, it was absolutely the worst.
"Now, all I can hope is that Black Fu can hold them off as long as possible."
Bai Fu wasn't very hopeful. In the fights with the fierce beast-mutated mutants, Black Fu had already heavily deteriorated, the superpower burst buff was gone, almost all her Prayer Cards were depleted, and she could only rely on her own spiritual energy to fight. Even though Black Fu's Spiritual Ability Bar was lengthly, it was totally insufficient when facing a mob.
In the few seconds it took her to move from the factory doorway to the base entrance, Black Fu had already been severely damaged.
The enemy numbers were simply too many, and the Chairman of the Truth Society was unexpectedly forceful.
While being mobbed, Bai Fu controlled Black Fu to throw a Spiritual Vision at the Truth Society Chairman, and after more than a month without surveillance, she could finally see most of the Chairman's data clearly.
