The last gate finally opened.
Vic finally saw the sacrificial arena that had been haunting his mind like a nightmare for half a month, and then he couldn’t help but gape: "This is..."
Before his eyes was a grand structure nestled in the valley.
It looked like a finely crafted clock, yet also like a labyrinth with complex pathways, filled with strange buildings, stone monuments, and various hunter statues.
These things were scattered across the vast maze, impossible to take in at a glance.
"So this is the Sacrificial Arena..." Ivana on the side couldn’t help but exclaim, her voice trembling slightly with surprise.
Bai Wei glanced at her and said with a smile, "So, you’ve been guarding this place for decades, but it’s your first time coming here? And it’s thanks to us?"
Ivana’s face turned red immediately. She wanted to defend herself but couldn’t find a reason, and after holding it in for a while, she could only say, "I’m in my teens, not decades! I’m not that old yet!"
"That’s true." Bai Wei patted Ivana on the back of her head, "After all, you’re just a little brat."
Ivana was a bit upset, "You’re not that much older yourself."
"Not much older, no." Bai Wei smiled ambiguously, "Even if your grandmother were alive, I would still call her a little brat."
Ivana froze up for a moment.
After teasing the little Holy Daughter a bit, Bai Wei heard Vic’s voice again, "Is this the Sacrificial Arena, I mean... all of it?"
Vic’s amazement was understandable.
Because the sacrificial arena spanned tens of thousands of acres, it was impossible to see all the way to the end, clearly different from Vic’s imagined "open the door to see the truth."
"Yes, all of it." Ivana nodded. Although she had never actually entered here, her grandmother surely told her the general situation, so she once again stepped up to fulfill her duty as the Holy Daughter, "The Sacrificial Arena is the earthly abode of the God of Senluo, so naturally, it has to be majestic."
"Uh, but isn’t the God of Senluo already dead?"
"So this is now a morgue." Bai Wei said with a laugh.
Ivana glared at Bai Wei fiercely.
The damn heretic, constantly desecrating her god... yet she had no means to counter him, since her own god was indeed dead.
Vic wasn’t particularly interested in the fate of the God of Senluo; he was more concerned about what to do next, as this sacrificial arena was indeed too vast.
"That depends on you."
Ivana said, "This is the earthly abode of the God of Senluo and the place where He grants power and inheritance to Hunters. But what kind of power is granted isn’t chosen by Him, but by the Hunters themselves, so wherever Hunters pray, He will bestow the corresponding power."
Vic didn’t quite understand, but Bai Wei helped Ivana explain: "So, different areas of the sacrificial arena correspond to different powers or authorities of the God of Senluo, right?"
Vic scratched his head, "I don’t quite get it."
"Hmm... then just follow me." Ivana carefully observed and then pointed to a hunter statue closest to them, "Let’s go there."
From their point of view, that hunter statue wasn’t far away; Ivana thought they should be able to reach it in a few minutes.
But once they actually entered the Sacrificial Arena, they realized what "seeing the mountain exhausts the horse" meant.
Though it didn’t actually exhaust them to death, that statue which seemed just minutes away took them more than half an hour of walking to reach. This made Vic a bit uneasy, wondering how long it would take to walk all of it.
"We’re here." Ivana arrived below the statue, looking at the strange characters beneath it, and then slowly read them out, "This is... Blood Introduction."
Vic looked up at the statue.
The hunter statue was in a fighting pose, but what surrounded his hands wasn’t a weapon, but blood.
The blood hovered around the hunter like ribbons being drawn out, and the ends of the blood were flames.
Vic suddenly remembered something and said excitedly, "Ryan! This is Ryan’s power!"
"Ryan?" Ivana recalled the name, "You mean that old hunter you encountered before?"
Vic nodded repeatedly, "He could ignite his own blood; I saw it with my own eyes."
"Then that’s it." Ivana nodded as well, "This is Blood Introduction, the power that’s easiest for hunters to obtain. Just by coming under this statue and praying to the God of Senluo, you can acquire this ability."
As Ivana spoke, she made a prayer gesture towards the statue, but soon dropped her hands.
"But I’m not a hunter, so I can’t acquire this power." She looked at Vic, "Do you want to try it?"
"Uh, what happens if I try?"
"You will gain this power." Ivana said, "But the price might be that you cannot obtain other powers."
"Because a mortal body cannot bear too much divine power." Ivana explained succinctly.
"Oh, but I should already have this power, given that I inherited Ryan’s blood." Vic looked at his hands, somewhat troubled, "But I don’t know how to use it. Mr. Ryan never told me."
"Uh..." Ivana also found herself stumped, "I don’t know either; my grandmother didn’t tell me what to do in such a situation."
