Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam Chapter 176

Divination skill was her bread and butter, the fastest money-making skill among many magics.

But compared to the other side, this appointed next Knight Commander was really a waste.

Speaking of which, Rowena suddenly asked, puzzled, "Did you set a trap in the Oath and the Sword of Victory?"

She personally participated in the arrangement of the ruins, experiencing the feeling of being a Knight Lord, which was a magic weapon tailored for the other side, half of which was embedded in solid ice. She had to admire Ethan’s mind, coming up with the design that "only the one chosen by the Knight Lord can pull out the sword".

Until the completion of the ruins, Rowena hadn’t seen any deadly traps.

After all, this time it was just to let the Knight Order and hunters bring the content of the trial back to the imperial capital. It wouldn’t take a few days before everyone from the great nobility to commoners would know about this trial, filled with a sense of destiny.

However, her divination result was different, "Why did I divine that they would suffer heavy casualties, as if they were about to be completely wiped out?"

Rowena could hardly imagine how these knights managed to kill themselves just by pulling a sword. Was this some sort of scam?

The future visible through divination skill was extremely limited. All she could see was blood staining the snow, as Abaddon stumbled and crawled through the snow, abandoning his Knight Order, and staggered back to the imperial capital.

Ethan was also shocked by Rowena’s divination result, "Could it be that they encountered a monster attack? Teacher, are there any dangerous monsters in the depths of the Northern Territory?"

This was the only possibility he could think of.

The commotion of dozens of knights was too large, inevitably attracting the attention of monsters, and with the impact of the blizzard, the visibility was extremely limited. Being caught off guard and facing a high-level monster attack would result in casualties.

Lindong said, "Only giant-foot monsters, but they aren’t considered dangerous monsters."

These humanoid monsters lived in the deepest part of the Northern Territory, used some homemade weapons, had very limited intelligence, and their fondness for group actions was the only tricky part. But even if Abaddon were more useless, he wouldn’t be beaten to shambles by a bunch of giant-foot monsters.

"Let’s go and check it out."

Rowena immediately proposed.

Leaving Ethan and Lindong alone in a cave was too dangerous; she had to do something.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Northern Territory.

The Knight Order, ready to charge, heard the disturbance coming from ahead. Abaddon stood at the forefront of the formation, sword in hand, issuing standby orders to the knights, everyone was prepared for combat.

They were determined to obtain the Holy Sword in the ruins; it had been decades since the last relic of a true god had been discovered.

The commotion was getting closer.

Soon, a staggering figure appeared in Abaddon’s sight, clutching his arm, covered in blood, face full of panic, and mentally on the verge of collapse.

It was a hunter from the guild.

Since the news of the ruins spread, many hunters and adventurers had formed exploration teams, planning to try their luck at the ruins.

However, Abaddon hadn’t considered these fanciful people as competitors—they weren’t even qualified to be his rivals at all—that was a Knight Lord’s ruin, only the knights of Neseriel Sanctuary could possibly pass the trial and reach the ultimate treasure.

The hunter saw the approaching Knight Order like a drowning man catching a lifeline.

His eyes glistened with the joy of surviving calamity; he was already out of breath but quickened his pace.

The distance between the two sides was getting closer, but before the hunter could explain the situation to Abaddon, a boulder fell from the sky, hitting him. The hunter didn’t even have time to scream before turning into a splatter of blood.

The knights simultaneously drew their swords, and the accompanying priests chanted protective spells.

A silver-white brilliance emanated from Abaddon; he stood at the forefront of the formation, holding the knight’s sword, not retreating a single step due to this sudden incident.

It was giant-foot monsters.

Veterans from the Imperial Capital had almost all experienced battles against the invasion of giant-foot monsters. These humanoid monsters of tremendous strength had, at that time, broken a breach in the city walls through boulder hurling.

Three adult giant-foot monsters over four meters tall, with horns and white fur, roared wildly at the sight of the Knight Order.

The situation was already clear; this ragtag group encountered an attack by the giant-foot monsters and was wiped out without offering effective resistance. The only survivor was quickly caught up and killed by the monsters.

A giant-foot monster, wielding a massive club, rushed towards Abaddon.

Abaddon did not retreat but charged forward, facing the gigantic creature head-on, his long sword emitted a blinding white light, and the giant-foot monster howled, closing its eyes as its fur ignited.

The smell of burning filled the air, and its charge was halted.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Abaddon swept his gaze over the monster’s left leg, several sword lights flashed, brown blood splattered, and having lost the support of its left leg, the massive body leaned to one side until it fell with a crash.

Then it was its arm; under the screams, the falling giant club pressed down on the monster. Abaddon gazed indifferently at the grotesque monster while the sword, blessed by the priest, pierced its chest effortlessly, the blade cutting downwards, gutting the giant-foot monster in an instant.

The two giant-foot monsters following closely behind abruptly stopped, witnessing their companion’s miserable death. They shrieked and fled in the direction they came, disappearing into the blizzard in an instant.

Abaddon glanced towards the direction where the giant-foot monsters disappeared, frowning deeply.

A sense of foreboding welled up in his heart.

This was truly unusual, based on his knowledge, giant-foot monsters were brutal and fearless, and he had personally experienced the invasion battle, never having seen these monsters flee in all directions.

Moreover, their range of activity was rather unusual.

This place was far from the giant-foot monsters’ territory, and since the end of the invasion battle, their presence was almost never seen around the Imperial Capital.

The blizzard grew stronger, and in the distance, faint howls and intermittent human screams could still be heard.

It was the guild’s hunters, and this was not the only team that encountered an attack.

Abaddon drew his sword, brown blood splattering the snow, and he ordered, "Prepare for battle, advance with me!"
