Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam Chapter 400

Ethan’s words had a remarkable effect.

He saw Wilson’s whole body emitting black energy, clenching his fists, his features twisted with anger, veins extending from his neck to his face. After hearing about the state of Aisoke’s death, Wilson’s breathing became heavy, and he couldn’t stop trembling.

"Although I would like to comfort you, Mr. Wilson."

Ethan continued, "But that was by no means an easy death. He was transformed into a monster by the ’Red Death,’ and you probably could barely recognize him. This basically aligns with my thoughts."

Under normal circumstances, Ethan did not enjoy poking others’ backs, but from the way Wilson had just sharply critiqued the agents of the Reception Bureau and the staff of Fireplace Bay, using corpses as a topic for discussion, he felt maybe the other was a fan of hell jokes. However, Wilson’s current reaction corrected this view.

Maybe Mr. Wilson was half, or a third a fan of hell jokes.

This was mainly reflected in his unabashed enjoyment of using hell jokes at others’ expense, but when it came to himself, he would immediately get riled up with a look of desperation.

These words once again provoked Wilson, rendering him temporarily speechless.

Ethan had to speculate about the purpose behind Wilson summoning him here.

The array at his feet had some unknown function, and Wilson specifically emphasized that this was the bottomless abyss, a world created by the power of the Old Gods. The Old Gods’ great hands could cross planes and project here at any time, suggesting they intended to ambush him here in cooperation with Sincaro.

Perhaps he also had to repent, prostrate before Aisoke’s shrine.

"If it happens again..."

Facing those blood-red eyes, since Wilson was too angered to speak, Ethan continued speaking to himself, "I would still do the same."

Wilson couldn’t listen anymore, the black energy turned into burning black fire, and countless arms woven from shadows surged from the array, reaching toward Ethan trapped inside.

He wanted to watch Ethan being torn to pieces.

This was an ancient sealing array; whether it was an Elemental Shaper, Great Mage, or another path of Transcendents, in front of the Old Gods, their powers would not function. He had summoned the servants of the Master of Demons, Sincaro, willing to sign a pact with those ancient demons and offer them sacrifices.

However, Ethan’s expression displeased Wilson.

In his conception, at this moment, Ethan should be desperately pleading with him, prostrate before Aisoke’s shrine, begging for Aisoke’s forgiveness.

And the cause of Ethan’s death would be his arrogance, treating this world created by the Old Gods as the Empire, the world belonging to humans.

But in reality, Ethan just calmly looked at him, then raised his hand, pointing at Wilson’s face. Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on novel(ꜰ)ire.net

Instinctively, Wilson looked where Ethan’s finger pointed. He vaguely felt a breeze brushing past his ear, but there was nothing there.

Yet Ethan saw a girl with green hair, raising her left hand high.

A crisp slap landed on Wilson’s left cheek, leaving the man in a daze.

The wind element was small, usually weak in personality. The slap didn’t even leave a red mark on Wilson’s face but left something else.

It looked like a crack, starting from the slapped left cheek, quickly running through his entire face.

The crack didn’t stop there; it rapidly spread across, forming a grid-like pattern.

Another breeze passed by, delivering the final blow to this precarious "pattern." Wilson stood silently in place, while the grid fell to the ground like blocks scattered by the wind.

The eager to move shadow arms stopped, they seemed to notice the presence of the green-haired girl.

The green-haired girl turned around, golden eyes meeting the entity about to manifest from the array. All the arms retreated as if fleeing. When the last arm disappeared, the black flames burning on the array dissipated.

Meanwhile, a shadow descended outside the manor, meeting the rattlesnake waiting outside.

The shadow brought news.

It marked a complete death.

Wilson did not awaken again from the resurrection pool. If the other high-level members of the Lofic Consortium found out about this, it would undoubtedly cause panic.

For a long time, the resurrection pool had been their greatest trump card, both a reward from the master and the reason they could act with impunity in the outside world.

All recorded in the resurrection pool were extremely important managers for the consortium. Now, the position of the leader of the Imperial Military Industry was vacant.

This result was not unexpected. The moment Wilson decided to act against Ethan, the result was sealed. Yet, the rattlesnake perceived some unusual aspects in Wilson’s death.

The relationship between Ethan and the Old Gods was even more intimate than she imagined.

It seemed more like...

The master personally reclaimed Wilson’s quota.

The rattlesnake had no doubt that after she uttered those words at the inn, her quota was also reclaimed. Her life now had only one last chance; the next death would be her end.

And on the other side, Ethan released the man who was bound.
