Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree Chapter 70

Vivian didn’t spend money on this book either, but took it directly from Grace’s shelf to borrow it for some time.

Grace owns a library of her own, with a vast collection of books in various fields, it can be considered a treasure trove.

As her student, Vivian naturally can borrow some basic books.

After Duke got this book, he found it to be a sky-blue book, much thinner than expected, even thinner than "Magic Basic Theory".

He opened the book to discover that it contained a universe within.

This is a book that needs to be read with Spiritual Power, all the information is carried by Spiritual Power, without using words.

But this also indicates that the book contains a large amount of information.

Not using words is mostly because if it were recorded in words, the content would be extremely long.

When Duke first started reading this book, he felt an overwhelming amount of information.

Luckily, he had already mastered the basic theoretical knowledge of Magic, so understanding it wasn’t that difficult.

...

Three days later.

Duke extended his hand, Magic Power surged within him, and droplets of water began to gradually condense in his palm.

These droplets merged together, gradually forming a water mass as large as a fist.

This is the most basic application of Water Element, using Magic Power to absorb the Water Elemental Particles around and condense them into visible water.

This method can’t be called Magic, it’s just a basic application of Water Element, and the water condensed has no use beyond quenching thirst.

But most of the Water Magic is based on this fundamental, extending into many advanced Water Magic.

Duke didn’t rush, but slowly familiarized himself with the control and utilization of Water Element.

After mastering these basics, he started to try and learn some actual Water Magic.

Water Arrow Technique and Water Shield Technique are the two most basic Water Magic.

The complexity of the Magic Models for these two Magics is both N2, which is considered quite simple.

Duke’s High-level Water Element Affinity Talent came into play here, and he easily mastered these two Magics, successfully constructing their Magic Models.

[Water Arrow Technique: Level 1 (1/100)]

[Water Shield Technique: Level 1 (1/100)]

With a thought, Duke condensed a water-formed arrow in front of him, ready to be launched.

The indoor environment is not suitable for releasing Magic; if things are broken, the loss would be his own.

He went outside and aimed at a distant rock, releasing a Water Arrow Technique. The arrow shot out swiftly, hitting the rock directly and exploding on the spot.

Simple water naturally wouldn’t achieve such an effect; the arrow contained Duke’s Magic Power within, creating such lethality when combined with Water Element.

The power of Magic is generally measured in degrees.

Duke, having no corresponding testing equipment, could only estimate that this Water Arrow Technique’s intensity was around 0.1 degree, not very lethal to a Wizard.

He wasn’t familiar with this Magic yet, and the infused Magic Power wasn’t much, just trying it out.

Duke also found out that he could control the range of the water arrow up to about twenty meters.

Within this range, he could control the water arrow with Spiritual Power, directing it precisely, even making it turn and rotate.

Duke recalled when they encountered the Two-headed ogre, and Vivian dodged the ogre’s Thunderball, but the Thunderball still turned and hit Vivian.

The Two-headed ogre’s Magic control range must not have been too large, and Vivian happened to be within that range, so the Thunderball could turn.

Duke tried it, but beyond his effective control range, the water arrow could only fly out along the trajectory like an ordinary arrow, without precise control.

His proficiency in Water Arrow Technique also gradually increased during his control practice.

After familiarizing himself with Water Arrow Technique, Duke tried Water Shield Technique.

A shield formed of water appeared in front of him, with the area and thickness of the water shield controlled by Duke; the thicker it is, the more time and Magic Power it consumes.

After mastering these two Magics, Duke at least gained some basic Magical means.

But relying solely on these two Magics to establish himself and walk on the Wizard Plane wouldn’t be nearly enough.

Duke learned from the book that usually some special means are adopted to make one’s Water Magic more effective.

For example, combining with some Casting Materials to greatly enhance the effect of Water Magic.

In the "Basic Theory of Water Element," Duke saw many introductions to related Casting Materials, like Mithril, Dragon Blood, venom, etc.

Many materials are currently difficult to obtain, but there is one material relatively easy for Duke to acquire.

The Shadow Squid is a high-level magical beast, whose ink can be blended into a Casting Material known as Shadow Water.

A Wizard can hide the concocted Shadow Water on the surface of the body by special means.

While normally invisible, when casting Water Magic, Shadow Water can be integrated into the Magic to significantly enhance the Magic’s effect.

Duke did a simple calculation based on the book’s data. If aided by Shadow Water, his earlier Water Arrow Technique could increase in strength from 0.1 to around 0.35 degrees.

Shadow Water can also serve as a constant defensive measure, equivalent to having a membrane layer that can resist Energy Attacks at any time.

Duke’s Brass Ring is enchanted with a secondary spell named Secondary Elemental Protection Layer; its effect on defending against Elemental Energy is good, but better than Shadow Water, it has a duration limit and can’t cover the body all the time.

Moreover, Shadow Water can be continuously refined and purified; as long as there’s ample material, the strength of Shadow Water can be enhanced through ongoing refinement.

Duke went to town to inquire; although there’s no Shadow Water for sale, Shadow Squid ink is available.

But the price is very expensive; Shadow Squid ink is an extensively useful Casting Material with limited acquisition channels, hence the higher price.

Just one gram of Shadow Squid ink costs six to seven sub-magic stones, and at least a hundred grams of ink is required to blend a portion of Shadow Water.

The price is astronomical to Duke, especially since he has no means to earn money yet.

Duke thought about it, deciding to be self-sufficient. The seas near Academy Island have Shadow Squids roaming.

This high-level magical beast is not very aggressive, but because they emerge in relatively deep areas and are extremely alert, they quickly bounce away at the slightest disturbance, making them difficult to catch.

Duke plans to prepare sufficiently before diving into the sea to capture some Shadow Squids himself.

By then, not only could he gather enough materials for Shadow Water, but he might also have extra ink to sell for some magic stones.
