Hu Peng and Xun You were both holding pistols, nervously watching out the window when they heard what Weiss had said, they couldn’t help but blush.
The monsters outside had also approached by now, one of them stepping forward and tentatively scratching the car door with its claws, leaving two deep marks.
"Damn it, how dare they treat Cassandra , today I must blow your heads off!"
Weiss shouted with a pained expression on his face.
The monsters outside, perhaps knowing the car posed no threat or provoked by Weiss’s earlier remarks, immediately swung a claw violently at the door.
As a harsh, grating metal noise sounded, this Knight-class off-road vehicle, despite being reinforced with bulletproof steel plates, had a horrifying mark gouged out by this single strike—though not yet completely penetrated, it looked close to it.
The other monsters launched their attacks as well, ramming and tearing from all sides in a fierce assault on Weiss’s "beloved."
After a heavy impact, the car shook violently twice, and the door was deeply dented, making Weiss wince.
Another metallic friction noise sounded as Lord Bear’s car door was lacerated with several fissures; he quickly thrust the muzzle of his gun out and sprayed bullets at the outside.
The K-2 assault rifle, known for its powerful firepower, released a sound that could be heard from afar. The monster outside the door was hit at close range and burst into a spray of green blood.
The fight almost instantly escalated to an intense stage, and even Hu Peng and Xun You in the back seat opened fire several times.
In such a critical moment, everyone had long forgotten the fear, all that remained was the battle at hand.
"Damn, are these creatures made of iron? Why are they so tough! I’ve shot at least twenty bullets into them, but they still haven’t fallen!"
Weiss was shouting to his comrades while firing through a small gap previously left in the window glass.
But Hu Peng and the others had no time to respond as they were frantically reloading—They had run out of bullets.
Another loud noise came, this time a monster slammed headfirst into the glass on Weiss’s right side, and the overburdened bulletproof glass immediately shattered.
Seeing the opportunity, the monster quickly reached its claw in, trying to grab the prey inside.
Weiss dodged to the side to avoid its attack. He then reached into his coat, pulled out a hand grenade, pulled the pin, and hurled it directly into the mouth of the monster outside the window.
While one of the monster’s claws was still inside the car, Weiss, ignoring everything else, reached up and yanked down a black explosion-proof curtain from above the window, fastening it into a slot below.
Following Weiss’s loud shout, a violent explosion occurred outside, and everyone inside the vehicle was shaken, dizzy and disoriented, their ears ringing continuously, feeling as if the entire world seemed unreal.
Outside the car, a series of bizarre noises arose, accompanied by the monster’s cries. Weiss and the others felt everything was so distant from them, the shock from the recent explosion nearby had not yet fully dissipated.
The monster’s voice sounded again, but this time it was much clearer, as the consciousness of several people was returning.
Weiss shook his head sharply, abruptly snapping out of his somewhat groggy state and instantly shifting his focus back to the fight.
Another soft noise, this time from directly in front of him. Weiss looked up to see a purple beam shooting through the mist, instantly piercing the head of the monster on the car’s hood.
And that subtle sound was the noise made as the beam penetrated the object.
"A purple beam... this is..."
Upon seeing this, Weiss immediately thought of the move Lord Bear had used just before, his gaze instinctively turning towards him.
Lord Bear had also just recovered from the impact of the shock when he noticed the flickering purple beams around him, and he immediately understood what had happened, his face quickly showing an expression of joy.
"Reinforcements have arrived! We made it!!"
Unable to contain his emotion, Lord Bear exclaimed excitedly.
Upon hearing this, Weiss was momentarily stunned, then remembered the youngster who had run out earlier claiming he was going to call for reinforcements, which Weiss had not taken seriously at all. In his view, where would one find help in these desolate mountains?
But what he hadn’t anticipated was that at a moment when they were near to despair, someone actually did appear, and it seemed that, just like Bell and his group, they were beings who controlled some extraordinary means.
Weiss thought to himself and glanced around at the environment. The five monsters that had been surrounding them were now reduced to two. In front of them stood four tall warriors in blue and purple armor, each holding a long spear over two meters long, battling the monsters.
"What, what the hell is going on? Where did they come from?"
Stunned by the scene before him, Weiss felt as if he had been dazed, wondering how such a scenario could unfold after just waking up.
Could it be that he wasn’t fully awake yet and all this was merely an illusion?
Sitting in the back of the car, Hu Peng and Xun You were also gradually regaining their senses. When they saw the scene outside the window, they couldn’t help but get excited, knowing that they were truly saved this time.
In the eyes of everyone, a figure clad in a black robe emerged from the mist and walked up close.
With a pinch and a twist of his fingers, a thick purple ray immediately shot out, instantly penetrating the head of one of the monsters.
The monster whose head had been blown off didn’t make a sound; it simply fell straight to the ground, and it was at this moment that Weiss finally understood that those purple beams he had seen earlier were emitted by this man in the black robe.
Thinking this, he subconsciously looked towards Bell, recalling how the latter had struggled to release a skill, which was not only thin and weak but also ran out of energy after a couple of shots, truly feeble.
Then looking back at the man before him, and judging from the four monster corpses on the ground, it was clear that the power levels weren’t even comparable.
As he was lost in his thoughts, the robed man flicked his fingertips again, sending out another beam of light. It traveled seven or eight meters, killing the last monster on the spot.
