Beelu was still unaware that he was being scorned. At the moment, he was carefully holding his Long Knife, slowly making his way from the bedroom into the living room.
"I’m very sorry for the trouble," he said cautiously.
As he did, the few teammates around him also lowered their guns.
"This place has now been taken over by monsters. We need to hold this room and wait for rescue to arrive..."
Hader continued, but it was clear even to himself that he didn’t have much confidence.
"Pal, Luke, go find some more furniture to fortify the door with. Quito, you redistribute the ammunition with me. Let’s prepare ourselves for a last stand..."
As the tasks were assigned, everyone sprang into action immediately.
The monsters had just been repelled, but they could come again at any time, so they had to race against the clock.
Beelu looked around at the others, unsure of what to do.
Suddenly, his ears twitched as if he had heard something and he hurriedly addressed them:
"Hey, hey! I think it’s best if you stop right now. Those monsters seem to be nearby; I can hear them coming..."
His voice was low, but it still easily captured everyone’s attention.
At first, they paused and listened, but hearing nothing, they gave Beelu strange looks, shook their heads, and continued moving furniture.
Seeing their reaction, Beelu began to doubt himself.
He listened again with his ears perked up, and his face changed as he said in an urgent tone:
"Guys, stop right now! I really heard a monster nearby; if you keep this up, you’ll draw it here!"
This time, the others were visibly impatient.
One of them, a white man named Pal, immediately dropped what he was holding and glared at Beelu:
"Kid, don’t push your luck. If you can’t be of any help, just go hide back in your bedroom and stop interfering with us!"
He was the one who had scorned Beelu for holding his Long Knife earlier.
Today’s series of events had built up frustration in Pal, and he saw Beelu’s interruption as a chance to vent.
Beelu was stunned by his reaction, but before he could say anything, a red figure suddenly appeared in his line of sight.
His expression changed.
Two sounds rang out, one of claws cutting through the air, and the other of a heavy object falling.
The situation on the field changed in an instant, and it was only then that everyone snapped to their senses.
Hader turned his head.
He saw an utterly ugly monster standing on the windowsill, and his teammate Pal was lying on the living room floor with the black youth.
It turned out that a monster had stealthily infiltrated from outside the wall and launched a sneak attack on Pal, who was standing by the window.
Beelu, in a split-second decision, had rushed over and tackled Pal, who was completely unaware of the imminent danger.
"What are you doing!"
Pal was still oblivious to what had just happened, his first instinct was that Beelu had attacked him out of frustration and annoyance, and he erupted in anger.
Before he could say more, however, a burst of gunfire suddenly rang out beside his ear.
Hader triggered the trigger immediately, and the specially modified bullets, carrying tremendous energy, hit the monster perched on the windowsill.
The monster lost its balance and roared as it was flung out.
This incident seemed to flip a switch, and the front door began to be hammered, with hordes of monsters swarming in from all directions.
Now Pal could hardly misunderstand what had just occurred.
But he had no time for apologies; he sprang to his feet, raised his gun, and aimed in the direction of the front door.
"Careful, they’re coming! Everyone, hold your ground!"
Hader’s voice reached everyone’s ears.
Beelu was sitting on the floor, staring at his own hands blankly.
At the moment the monster appeared, he had felt his blood quicken, his body tense, and seen very clearly the creature’s movements as it struck at Pal.
Somehow, he had felt that the monsters did not seem so swift—in fact, they seemed quite slow.
As long as he took action, he could easily hit the target.
But as a twenty-something-year-old homebody, his first instinct wasn’t to attack, but rather to dodge with the unfortunate soul about to have his head sliced off.
Now, as he recalled the details of what had just happened, Beelu grew increasingly excited.
How could he not understand by now? It must have been the effects of the scroll given to him by the Mage!
Beelu remembered the Mage telling him that the scroll could enhance his own Strength or something of that sort.
Now it seemed he had become Superman!
In an instant, his heart filled with boundless hope, and the monsters attacking once again from outside didn’t seem so frightening anymore.
A loud bang resounded, and the furniture in front of the door was knocked down by the monster’s powerful force, leaving the security door severely deformed.
