"Impossible. We had made enough preparation, how could it have fallen? How are the survivors? Did they manage to escape?" Feng Xiu asked.
Shaking his head, Rong Qinyu said, "I don’t know. When we left, I saw the leaders already leaving in their cars, and the gates were opened."
When she heard this, Feng Xiu clenched her jaw tightly. "Those coward deserters," she muttered through gritted teeth.
Noticing her anger, Rong Qinyu held her wrist and pushed the dagger away from his throat. Taking the dagger, he placed it on the table and said, "Ah Xiu, you have been in a coma for half a month. I made some porridge for you. You should eat something first."
Hearing this, Feng Xiu realized the throbbing pain in her stomach was due to hunger. Although she couldn’t trust his words completely, she realized that she didn’t feel repulsed by his touch like in the past year.
As they sat on the chairs, she glanced at him and saw a scar behind his ear. This scar was light, and without close inspection, no one would notice it. This scar was the result of him protecting her back then when they were in a car accident.
She always thought that the scar had long gone since she didn’t find it on her boyfriend anymore. Turns out, she was spending the last year with an impostor.
Just thinking how she shared the intimate moment with that impostor made her stomach churn and her heart sink.
A moment later, she suddenly pushed him away and vomited on the spot. Since she hadn’t eaten anything during her coma, she vomited nothing but her stomach acid.
Seeing her vomiting like this, Rong Qinyu quickly patted her back gently and gave her a bottle of water to rinse her mouth.
With her back facing him, Feng Xiu didn’t notice the complicated emotions flashing in his eyes. Five minutes later, she finally emptied her stomach and lay weakly in Rong Qinyu’s arms.
After he cleaned her face using a wet towel, Rong Qinyu said, "Ah Xiu, eat something first before you go back to sleep."
In order to avoid making her nauseous again, he carried her to another room and placed her on the table covered with several tablecloths as cushions.
Sitting on the table, she only reached his chin when they faced each other. She hesitated for a while before she said, "Qinyu, I’m sorry."
Taken aback by her sudden apology, Rong Qinyu asked, "Why did you suddenly apologize to me?"
Lowering her head, Feng Xiu replied, "In the past few months, I... thought you were staying with me. Even though I doubted that person, I never looked for you. I even..."
Before she finished her words, Rong Qinyu covered her lips and said, "You don’t have to tell me, I know."
Hearing this, Feng Xiu’s eyes widened in surprise.
"It would be a lie to say that I’m not jealous or angry. But compared to losing you, those were nothing," he added with a smile.
While Feng Xiu didn’t understand what he was scared of, she still couldn’t bring herself to treat it as if nothing had happened. She betrayed him, and that was a fact.
Noticing his girlfriend was avoiding his gaze and touch, Rong Qinyu placed the bowl of porridge aside and reached out to hold her cheeks.
Turning her face, he looked into her eyes and said, "Feng Xiu, I know you only got together with me because you wanted to cut off your ex-boyfriend’s feelings toward you."
"For you, our relationship might be something physical. But for me, it’s more than that. So, I will never despise or look down on you just because you slept with someone who impersonated me."
"Why? Aren’t you angry? I slept with someone else, I betrayed you," she asked.
Rong Qinyu smiled and asked, "When you slept with him, who were you thinking about?"
"It’s you."
"Then, that’s enough. You didn’t betray me because in your heart and mind, the one sharing that intimate moment with you was me. You were tricked, and it’s not a reason for us to break up," Rong Qinyu said firmly.
When she heard his words, Feng Xiu let out a chuckle and said, "You really have a strange logic."
Finally seeing her smile, Rong Qinyu hugged her and replied, "I am. So, you can’t leave me. Otherwise, no one would want me anymore."
After a moment of silence, Feng Xiu returned his hug and nodded, "Okay."
While the two of them shared their heartfelt words, several survivor camps in Jiangning City had fallen under the attack of zombies.
As the sun was setting in the western horizon, sounds of explosions and gunfire mixed with the roars of zombies echoed in the Jiangning City Base.

Standing on top of the wall, Pei Yijun waved his hand, and several lightning bolts flew toward the metal needles. With the addition of the lightning, the destructive power of the metal needles increased by several folds.
