He drove on for a long time, but saw no sign of Qin Youxuan.
Dan Hanjie thought he had guessed the direction wrong. Just as he was about to turn the car around, he noticed her other shoe by a trash can on the side of the street where they’d come from.
The heel was broken off. It appeared that she had been carrying it in her hand and discarded it next to the rubbish bin.
It was only a short distance from where he had found the first shoe, confirming he was heading in the right direction.
Dan Hanjie quickly made a U-turn and drove back in the direction he had initially judged.
He drove a few more kilometers but still couldn’t see her.
This wasn’t right. Absolutely not right.
She was on foot, and considering the time, it was impossible for her to have gone that far.
Dan Hanjie punched the steering wheel hard, a defeated gesture, as he held his forehead.
Seconds from the last time she was kidnapped suddenly flared back into his memory. Dan Hanjie’s face fell, as he tightened his lips.
And he’d let her disappear from right under his nose again…
The phone suddenly rang.
Dan Hanjie was startled, then picked it up.
“Mr. Jie, we’ve found her, a passerby saw Miss Qin heading towards the corner of East Street. The last place she was seen was at the park by the intersection,” came Yao’s voice.
The sentence was barely finished before Dan Hanjie quickly spun around.
He glanced at his location.
He was currently near the corner of East Street.
The park at the intersection was the place that he had just passed…
Dan Hanjie ended the call, made a U-turn, and quickly arrived at the park at the intersection.
As soon as he stepped out of the car, he could see the bustling crowd at the entrance of the park.
The park was an open space, without an entry fee, more like a children’s playground. Most of the visitors were families or parents with their children.
Outside the park, there were numerous vendors selling various children’s toys and balloons.
There were also many snack stalls that were frequently patronized by passers-by.
Why did she come here?
Dan Hanjie, dressed in a black suit, with an imposing stature and intimidating presence, severely clashed with the park’s relaxed atmosphere.
Upon closing the car door, Dan Hanjie took out his mobile phone and got out.
He went to the park’s entrance, called up Qin Youxuan’s picture on his phone, and showed it to the park attendant. “Have you seen this girl?”
“Oh dear, sir, as you can see, there are so many people in and out of this park every day, even if I have seen her, I might not remember!” The attendant glanced at the picture on the phone, replying helplessly.
“Look carefully!” Dan Hanjie’s cold eyes narrowed as he grabbed the attendant’s neck.
Before the attendant could utter a word, the muzzle of Dan Hanjie’s gun was already pointed at his head.
“I’ll ask one more time, have you seen her?”
“I…I saw…I remember now. This young lady did enter the park… though she has been there for quite some time.”
“Are you sure?” Dan Hanjie raised an eyebrow, subtly changing the direction of the gun.
The manager broke out in a cold sweat, “I’m…absolutely certain. Usually, I wouldn’t remember because there are so many people, but this young lady came in without shoes on. She seemed a bit lackluster but still looked well-dressed, so I didn’t stop her.”
The guard was now spilling every detail.
“Which direction did she go?”
“O-over there!” The manager pointed in a direction and only let out a sigh of relief after Dan Hanjie put away his gun.
